With less employees, shouldn't the prices be lower? Airborne $8.39. At Rite Aid? $7.29. Mucinex $15.99. At Rite Aid? $14.09. And pharmacies have a pharmacist you can ask questions!
I’m ignorant about the politics of this, but CA Attorney General just sued Amazon for anticompetitive price raising practices, claiming Amazon is taking over the market and then jacking up prices. It seems to have some truth to it.
Super excited to see this and to be the first in SoCal! Big win for Whittier! It’s a 15 min walk from my house! Thanks for the video and all the info. Can’t wait to stop in for a visit! 😍
Thanks Robert, I live right down the street. I can see this being a big hit for the youngsters, but I can also see it being a tough place to get in and out of for sure. I was surprised that you can buy beer/wine as you can't at a supermarket self serve...thanks for the video!
I passed by it yesterday on my way to El Pollo Loco and Dunkin'. Agree that parking is going to be a nightmare. It was previously a car stereo place...and the elementary school is just up the street. That corner is a jammed mess.
So wish I could check it out. thank you my friend for the Look inside. I think this is the wave of the future. Cashiers are definitely going to vanish altogether.
Before you walk in you sign in using your Amazon account. Then you enter. The technology used is basically a ton of cameras scanning everything you grab or put back. It charges your Amazon account. Most people have a debt or credit card attached to their Amazon account.
Is this ripe for abuse? Can some armed gunman wait outside as the door opens for you, push you in and use your account that opened the door to essentially take everything in the store to only be charged to your account? So it becomes a free for all? or is there some sort of check out at least at the end where you supply your code for safety sake?
I really don't use Amazon I still go to get my auto parts and shopping my old way sure it's convenient that's great but if it's going to take business away from other businesses in the town I'm not really interested
Went there today too. It’s exciting to have the first SoCal store in Whittier- next closest is up in San Francisco. It’s more like a 7-Eleven convenience store. It’s quick and easy and different. Will come back to order a sandwich next time.
Huh, I’m excited to give it a try, though I’m by the foothills. 😅 Also, there is an actual Amazon store that either opened it is almost open on Colorado Blvd in east Pasadena. It’s thrust up against the 210 (south side) and Madre St.
Somebody is going to get in with a stolen account and just take everything. Or just sneak in while people are exiting and take everything. You will find the wrappers and containers under a tarp or bridge some where.
East of Hadley st. Is so much better than west of Hadley st. I wonder why City of Whittier won’t clean up the Westside of Whittier there is so much old commercial building along this route that alone I wish they get rid of all the pot shops it brings in so much rift raft on this side.
Cool video. This is the future of convenience store. No cash= possibly no more criminals stealing cash or killing employees! Cash is going to be ancient history 🙃.
@@MyWhittierTV nope, anyone can shop there. Could scan in by swiping a credit card or let an employee know you want to choose items and checkout the old fashioned way.
I got charged $21 for a $3.29 Sandwhich at an Amazon Go store in Torrance. Store employee said to call customer service. Customer Service said the store has to fix the overcharge. In the end I was out $17 dollars. This technology has a long way to go. GOT RIPPED OFF BY AMAZON. GREAT BEZOS, THE BALD CLOWN.
Kinda. The only difference is fresh food to take home and eat like the pizzas and salads. Sushi to go made daily. Stumphouse coffee on tap and kombucha. Pink berry yogurt. A deli for made you order food. Starbucks coffee. And you walk in grab what you need if you are in a hurry and leave. No waiting in lines. But yes other that that the same.

It’s just a little more than a 7-11? I’m disappointed. The way an employee at Amazon Fresh led me to believe, Amazon Go was going to be more like a department store than a grocery store, as Amazon Fresh already is for groceries.

I never liked to read as a kid until I read Tolkien, and I have loved to read ever since. Furthermore, Tolkien is practically one of the primary forefathers who invented the formula for what would become the fantasy genre. He’s not just an author; he played an impactful role in history itself. Tolkien’s literature is not only studied in universities, but it has also laid the groundwork for thousands of fantasy writers to this day. Amazon using Tolkien’s writings for their own money making agenda is extremely disrespectful to Tolkien, his millions of fans, and to an entire subculture. However, what takes this situation to an entirely new level of disrespect is how people are bringing racism into it. The fact that people, Amazon included, have insinuated that we are being racist and misogynistic for disliking Rings of Power is such a horrible insult and so off base. I find that personally insulting and enraging. How dare you insult people with such a horrible accusation without even knowing them. It’s so disgusting that Amazon has even tried to play this race card in order to avoid the real issue of how they have ruined one of history’s best writers, because they wanted to make bubble gum entertainment just to make money. They fired the Tolkien scholars when they wrote the script that’s all you need to know. Amazon…it’s shameful what you have done, and how you’re reacting to your mistake is even worse, shameful.
What a preposterous notion. I suppose you would’ve been opposed to the cotton gin. And opposed to shovels. People should be using spoons instead. It’ll create more jobs. Production and efficiency and lower costs for the consumer be damned!
I heard on the radio that store is the first one in the state.
Wow k did not know that
Not exactly true. It's the first one in southern California, but there is one in San Francisco.
Amazon go opened in San Francisco in 2018. So it’s been in CA for more than 4 years already.
It's the same as Amazon fresh which opened in La Verne over 6 mos ago....know your prices, most items not cheaper

Wrong comp. Compare to gas/service station. They carry limited items and charge far above pharmacy style chain store pricing

Good stuff ! Would you happen to know when they close ?
I try ink 10 but not positive
what happens if you just pick up something to read the packaging and then put it back? does it charge you and then refund you or? thank you.
their technology is able to recognize that you put something back so it doesn’t even charge you

Hope to see one is San Diego soon.
What are the hours of that place? Is it 24 hours like 7-Eleven? How often does the "fresh food" get changed out?

Anything is possible with a big imagination. You should work for Disney
Or just use the gun or a sledgehammer to break the glass and loot the store?
I prefer my local 711 with the Indian guy mad dogging me while I get my Nachos
I went there today. The kiosk for the sandwiches was super slow to the point I thought both froze. The sandwich was pretty good though
