    Dagger be lookin' hella dope, @zeemanknives! Now you need to stitch up an equally dope sheath for it!

      @zeemanknives  10 місяців тому

      Yeah I made a kydex sheath for this one. The client that bought this knife wears it around his neck.

    Beautiful knife. I would love to have seen a handle on it. I was a police officer and carried a boot knife for years. I lost it one night in fight with a suspect. That was 20 years ago and I’m still sick about it. It had sentimental value.

      Thank you for watching and commenting. Sorry to hear about your knife that you lost. I know the feeling about it having sentimental value. I carry a huge amount of respect for those who serve / served in Police and Military units. I have another dagger in the pipeline that needs a handle on it. Ill post a video about once finished. All the best!

    What an impressive display of artistic creativity to revive old artisan values. How much for this knife?

      @zeemanknives  3 роки тому

      Grazie per aver guardato. Ho usato l'acciaio 1070 che ha uno spessore di 3,5 mm. Le punte sono "Ruwag Industrial Drillbits". Grazie per la visione e buona fortuna con il tuo progetto di coltello.

    1:20 what was that program you used to draw the knife using a digital grid?

    • @zeemanknives
      @zeemanknives  3 роки тому +1

      I use Adobe Indesign to draw up my templates. The grid is a template I placed in the background to aid in design. Indesign is more suited for Graphic design purposes, but because I work in it everyday I implement it for my knife templates. Illustrator, Photoshop, and a bunch of free online programmes that support vector drawings will serve the purpose just as well...

    Did you just use water for hardening the blade? Does it matter what you use?

    • @zeemanknives
      @zeemanknives  3 роки тому +2

      No, i use oil to quench. It does matter what you use yes...water is a fast quenchant compared to oil, and the risk of warped and cracked blades are very high if you quench in water. Some metals do benifit from qeunching in water, but i leave that to those who have experience with it. Common high carbon steels like 5160, 1070 and 01 will do good with normal vegetable oil if you cant get hold of specialised quenching oils.

    I'm stuck making a dagger out of a file with strictly hand tools, and a dremel, its gonna take me a month
