I just bought a 2015 DL650 with only 1300 miles. A week later at 2100 miles I'm hearing the same noise your bike made. I was looking forward to a "trouble free" bike, but that's obviously not the case. I've read everything I could about "idle hammer" and was getting very discouraged. Hopefully my bike just needs the nut torqued down correctly also Thank you for posting this video. Even four years later it's continuing to help Suzuki owners.
A very clear and professional video! I need to change my clutch on my 03 SV rather soon so this video has really helped demonstrate how to take everything apart properly and also what to look and check out for when I get in there 👀 Thanks again for this video and ride safe 😉
Really good video👍 I know this is old now, but think I have a similar problem on my honda cb650f. I get bad vibrations through the footpegs, tank, seat, everywhere when the clutch lever is fully out when cruising gently, it seems better when I put the power on. Recently I discovered that if I pull the clutch lever in just a little but still got full bite the vibration goes away. Your video has given me the confidence to have a look, really hoping it's just loose 🙏
Finally found the answer to my questions :-) It's getting quite irritating while idling so at least I got something to do over winter months! Great video, many thanks!
Great video I have the same problem with a bike I'm working on very similar design it's a hyosung GT650R made by an old partner of Suzuki Inc back in the 90s
How did you use the slide hammer? I know my clutch cover (2003) is stuck so would be interested in knowing how you did that. (Hopefully the previous owner didn't use epoxy to seal it.) I noticed you removed all of the water pump fasteners and not just the top two. The bottom two just fasten to the clutch cover according to Haynes and the official manual.
I have build a L shape piece of 2mm sheet metal, attached it to my slide hammer and used it to grab on the little tabs on the case. I have not had a Haynes manual to see exactly which bolts exactly hold the clutch cover, I just took them all off, as I did not know how long they were. If you have an Haynes manual is great, just use the video and follow their steps and torque settings and you'll do a great job.
In time will wear out between basket and shaft and cause further play between the shaft and basket until something will break. never left it too much to find out exactly what will happen.
Thank you brother. I bought second hand yamaha fz v2 and same noise is coming while i downshift and release clutch in 2nd gear mostly. Like "gad gad gad" giving heavy vibration that goes away when i give acceleration. I think it's the same issue. Or please let me know if you think something else causing this noise.
*I also own Gixxer- 155 in Nepal but the problem regarding my bike is when ever i gear shift on uphills it makes cranking sound and once the bike picks up acceleration the sound disappears again. Its so annoying to hear. Is there any solution to fix it? Thanks in advance.*
when I start the my 2012 model m109r, the sound of rattling noise comes from the side of the clutch and as soon as you press the clutch lever, the sound stops what is the problem of the thing please help me

Very well done video! If I'll ever hear this noise I now know where to look and how to fix it.
Thanks for watching and hopefully you'll never hear the noise!
I thought my clutch rattled a little but having heard yours I’m not concerned 😂

How did you go?
Well, that's one way to fix that sound. I just straight piped my exhaust and never heard it again.
😉😆
Correct, less hassle :D

Is this video the sound when the clutch lever is pulled?
Your video was informative.!
When the clutch is pulled, the noise disappears
Thank you so much. Does anyone know what the risks of this going untreated?

Hola hermano podrías decirme que fue lo que le hiciste para quitarle el ruido?? Si cambiaste algo o solamente apretaste la tuerca
Hola, solo aprieto la tuerca.
Thank you. That was very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Great job, good video. Thanks 👍
Glad it helped
What did you use to seal the cover with instead of replacing the gasket? Great video 👌
I have used a new gasket, just added a very thin layer of silicon used in automotive industries.

I have the same problem...did this video fix your problem?
Is the noise coming from engine or chain?
Great video man! Did you notice any strong vibration while driving around 6k rpm when the bolt was loose?
Not much
This is a well made video!
Thank You.
What is number in mm of the center nut that holds the basket? (The one that you use 50nm torgue)
24mm
Salut George, unde mesteresti la motociclete ca am si eu aceeasi problema la un V-strom 650/2005? As vrea sa o pui si pe a mea la punct.Multumesc.

how many miles was the clutch? mine is 55000km and still sounds good
78k miles on the bike
@@GicaPhp ok thats high milleage and more thab reasonable to have some clutch work done

Did the clutch disengage properly?
Yes, was working ok, just noisy.
mine sounds just like that its a cbr500 that i abused downshifting, was thinking to replace the outer gasket
It will be very similar.
Very helpful thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
I hope mine doesn't blow up before my next bike. Though it makes that noise mostly when I lug the engine
I hope it will not blow :D
Harika video, teşekkürler kardeşim
You're welcome
Does the motorcycle make noise when it warms up?
No, not anymore.
Can a low engine oil also cause that kind of noise ?
Not really

Most likely the clutch basket, take the clucth cover off, and check it ;)

Oil pump.
