- I wanted to add back some of the chassis rigidity that we lost when we put the ETS FMIC on the car. Luckily this helps increase the strength and increases safety of the car!

It looks really nice and I like the fact that it has the tow hook. I just don’t know why it’s not one piece. I don’t think it will hold up in a crash.
That was my concern was well, the steel is pretty thick and I do think that 40 mph and under it would hold up but anything above that I'm a little unsure of
this is not a crash bar but more of a light duty tow bar. The factory crash bar has 2 important function, one is of course absorb the impact, the second is provide a strong connection between the two box rail of the car so energy can be shared to both rails. And that 14gauge steel plate is not going to do jack in an impact. 40mph is fast, take a look on IIHS's crash test of wrx, that's only 40mph on Factory setup and the car is all screwed up,

I personally think that it’s not strong enough looking. But it sure is stronger looking than the sixth gen Malibu’s that I’ve worked on (to name one car off hand, but there are plenty more that have weaker impact bars **cough cough** Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Kia) on the other hand, too many people that modify cars to have large inter coolers on the front often delete their impact bars. Which is not very smart compared to having an aftermarket one.

When you do video abut FMIC vs TMIC, why you don't mention that with FMIC you'll replace the quality factory crash bar with this flimsy POS?
Depends on thr kit you get, some have some beefy ones and others have smaller ones. The Cobb crash bar on my 05 is massive, even that one from ETS Would withstand an impact though
The splitter steals the show haha, but is that the OEM STi lip you have on there?
Yes, I love the OEM lip. The fitment of it is spot on. The price is a little hard to justify but IMO well worth it!

What size intercooler core thickness did you get 3, 3.5, 4?

Any issues with closing/opening the hood with the fmic? My capture/release lever gets caught up on the spacer where the bolt holds the front mount into place…

Able to reduce IATs because its not sitting on top of an engine heat soaking 😅 but if you wanted to trim the bumper you can

Maybe the ETS one, it's a tad smaller but not 100% sure on that

No, if you rotate them down they should clear 🙏
Does the crash bar affect handling at all?
Should help with chassis stiffness compared to not having on at all
Does the Oil cooler fit with a FMIC? 🤔 I haven’t seen a install for an oil cooler on your STI.
No 😖 I have a vudeo of trying to fit one, the oil cooler lines don't route nicely with this FMIC

Cannot confirm, fit the OEM bumper without having to trim anything though

I have debated cutting the bumper but the crasher would show if I did cut it. I have been tossing around the idea of swapping to the newer bumper style also so I might say fuck it and cut it up.
Did you have to trim the back of the bumper when you did the install of the intercooler ?

i like your videos and all but this is dumb... your defeating the purpose by blocking air while putting more weight where it wont make a difference incase of collision impact. but its your money so dont mind me.

What’s your input about 3.5” vs 4” ?
I got the 3.5 because it was on sale but if you shooting for bigger power you'll want a thicker core to displace heat better
I still got stock turbo for now. But down the road I’m gonna have a bigger turbo. Would it affect the performance if I go with 4” with a stock turbo?
No you will be fine with a 4" on stock turbo just overkill for it
