The world needs more RUSH these days. Inspirational, motivating, passionate, and badass I'm a lifetime fan, saw 6 different tours, and multiple shows each in The Bay Area during the 80s and 90s. Every time, I was watching greatness. Truly underrated. I'm amazed Gen Z doesn't appreciate RUSH and their positive depth.

Think about this.....Neil and Geddy are literally the top 3 players at their instruments. Plus supreme multitasking and singing and lyric writing. They are simply unreal. Then you have Alex. The "least talented" of the 3, yet he's a top 10 guitarist of all time IMO. There simply isn't 3 band members ever that can touch these guys.

Forgot how much I like this song - especially live. I've been a Rush fan for 41 years (my first concert was Moving Pictures, 1981), so I have endless recommendations for you. I even interviewed Alex Lifeson in '96 - which was an amazing experience for a longtime fan, but that's a story for another day. You obviously appreciate seeing them live, so you should definitely check out the version of Xanadu from the tour that I saw in 1981. You won't believe all the things these guys do on stage to create such an epic track. Geddy and Alex are both playing doubleneck guitars, Geddy is multitasking like crazy, and Neil's setup before he had electronics was already massive (tubular bells, wind chimes, wood blocks, glockenspiel, you name it). It's a must-see performance: ua-cam.com/video/VuHS-gjMiVw/v-deo.html - Enjoy!

I will also add a musical point of view. The "upbeat 80's vibe" comes from the song being played and modulating mostly in the major keys (D and E, with a Bm thrown in), like a lot of the more "pop" songs do. A lot of Heavy Metal and later, Grunge and Goth, preferred minor keys, which Rush also shifted to during those eras. If a song makes you feel good or happy, it's probably played in a major key, if it makes you feel sad or upset, most likely it's a minor key.

That outro guitar solo Alex performs gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. One of his finest recorded live moments ever! And Geddy's bass tones on this tour are also so fat and amazing. Last, I feel like this is one of the most sublime pairings of Neil's words with Ged's vocal delivery.
People today on their iPhones: "Look, I'm multi-tasking."
Geddy Lee: "Hold my beer. No wait, I'll hold it while I sing, play bass, Taurus Pedals, and keys."
Recommended: Cygnus X-1 Books I and II. Put aside a good hour if you do them back to back. 2112 too: The song/album that saved their career in 1976.

The other one you can see and feel his emotion take over is Red Sector A, it's a much different feel with much different emotion behind it, but you can't help but "feel" that solo either!

While I’m listening to this, I remember why I got my Rush tattoo. I’m sent back to why I love them.

TNT, Thank you for pointing out one of the most important things to me about Rush. Their music makes you FEEL something. Most of their songs are inspiring or at the very least.....informative. I was 13 when I found this band back in 1980. It’s been an amazing ride ever since. My high school English teacher ask me who my favorite poet was and I told him, Neil Peart. He was oblivious. Lol. You see, I was never an ace in my scholastic endeavors and like you and am first drawn in by the music then lyrics. This band had all I needed to get through high school. Ok, there may have been some Cannabis. Lol! Again, thank you for your seemingly genuine reaction to this band. If I’ve taken nothing else from decades of this Rush experience I have learned to always be......true.
I recommend reacting or just listening to the song, “Losing It” from the “Signals” album. It has a depressing elemental tone but closes with honorable mention. I’m mostly optimistic and don’t waller in drama or muck but this song may be one of my all time favorites. It has an off beat time signature and the solo is done with an electric violin. Just a little fun fact, this song was first played live 35 years after it was recorded. Side note, lyrics are very important in this song. Looking forward to your next video.
    Hope you enjoy. E-

I prefer the cd version of show of hands as far as his solo but it really doesn’t matter at the end of the day. Once if his best solos ever.

I love your reactions to Rush. Please do more with lyrical break downs. Neil wrote most of their lyrics behind the songs and was a GENIUS. Some of his lyrics often bring me to tears just on their powerful impact and Geddy's delivery of them.
A couple good songs I would recommend for this is 2112 (very long song) or Losing it.

Wow. This brings me back. I remember sitting in the audience and swaying to that song as they played it. This album was the end of their synthesizer period. They had them in later albums, but this album was the highpoint and after this, they used them less and less (Alex got tired of trying to work his guitar around them and snapped and told them "no more synthesizers!"). Some other good songs from that period worth listening to: Territories and Force Ten.

You should to do a reaction to one of Neil’s drum solos. I think you would enjoy it.
