Ist sehr leicht. Reispapier mit Reisleim fest kleben. Nach dem Trocknen das Papier fein mit Wasser einsprühen. Laß es trocknen und das Reispapier ist glatt.
I love shoji lamps.Made a couple small ones and a 2-1/2'x5' one. Learned alot from your demo,it has inspired me to do more and to try more difficult ones.Thank you, sir, for your inspiration!
Beautiful design love the simplicity. I was hoping for a few shots on the rice paper application. Did you wet it when applying? Any chance of a mini tips type video showing how you did do it?
+Brian Prusa It was pretty easy. I didn't wet it. The trickiest part was getting the glue where I wanted it with the paint brush. The paper was cut with a guillotine type slicer. I pushed the paper into the rabbets with a pencil eraser. The last sheet was the hardest to do.
Great video...I built a similar Japanese temple lamp about a year ago. When I installed the lamp socket support I did not glue it in, instead I used screws this way was easier to install the paper, then screw the support in afterwards. Thanks for the great video!
Slick, another awesome design and great work as usual. I really like your stop blocks on your router table fence. Thanks for sharing. Keep up the great work!
Beautiful lamp. About 15 years ago I went online to see about buying a pagoda lamp and was astounded at the prices. Most were in the $350-$450 range. So I built my own. I don't know hoe to send a photo or I would. Mine is much more delicate than yours. My posts and rails were only 3/8" square. It's posted on my Facebook page somewhere:) also I used green art glass because I couldn't find any mica sheets for the shades.
Very nice. I wanna build one of these for my mancave/PC room. Was wondering, I've had issues with glue in the past where it squeezes out, stains don't take to the wood well, even if I wipe the glue with a wet cloth. I always find myself having to lightly sand back and forth at that spot to try and get it to soak in. What do you do to avoid this?
Great looking lamp! I really wanted to see the process for installing the rice paper.

Thank you. This was a challenging and fun project.
A very beautiful lamp, thank you for showing it !
Very cool I like the Asian inspired look of a lot of your pieces which I love instead of straight lines all the time. Awesome video!!!
What a great lamp! I love the design. And even more I love the loose tenon joinery. I can't get enough.
Beautiful Lamp Guy, Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful lamp! I love the wood lighting projects.

“We’re all about recycling here at garage wood works” eye look. Now that shit was funny.
Ken.
Ken Moon - Moonpie Creations not sure what was meant by that comment?
When he made his comment you didn't see him look around....funny moment.
Do you sell them??
What is the name for those pointy things you use to align the top piece to the drill holes in the body? Thank you.
Dowel centers or sometimes called dowel and tenon centers.
where can I get the rice paper? those a re so beautiful lamps by the way, I really love them
I got my rice paper from a rice paper pad for calligraphy. I think it was Hobby Lobby.
Nice design and build. I would have liked to have seen paper fitting and install
Where did you buy the lamp socket

I never use stain. If I want a dark piece, I use a dark wood. ;)
Awesome lamp
Great looking lamp. How do you get rid of the snipe on your planer?
+Belarch 1 I take light passes as I approach the final thickness.
Can I please buy one of these from you? 🙏
Very nice! What do you think about Arm-R-Seal finish?
I really liked it and I'll definitely be using it again. Easy to apply and it cures relatively fast.
You should show putting the rice paper to the structure...
yep, he skipped the "Lamp" stuff
Gracias
I still want to know how you're supposed to able to tell the time with it....
+GuysWoodshop It's a good thing I wasn't drinking anything when I read that :) I need to design a lamp/clock for you :)
Was the rice paper you usedthick or thin
+montewoods It's pretty thin. Very translucent.
That came out really nice! So how did you like the new finish?
+Chem Cody I think it will quickly become a favorite of mine. Very nice!
Skilled work! Love it and nice job bro. :))
Step 1, have wood and lots of expensive equipment...
Nice....
You may not have monetized your videos but UA-cam is running ads at the beginning. Anyway great project!!!
+Andrew Scheier Are you referring to the microjig ad?
GarageWoodworks yes
The MicroJig ads are served by me, not Google. You scared me for a second :)
Good work, but you skipped the most interesting part: preparing and fixing the paper. :(
This looks like rose wood
