      I have owned Hondas for 30 years, 350s, 420 ranchers, ands now have a 500. I spend a lot of time on them at work. They are very reliable. My complaint with them is that I think Honda should redesign the chassis and steering geometry. I think they are too narrow and at the same time don't turn well. In the later models Honda has made the suspension taller, without making the bikes wider, which makes them less stable on sidelings. After watching this video which talks only about color changes, I am thinking about changing brands after a long time.

    Who else is ready for Honda to hurry up and release a Rincon 1000 with the Pioneer / Talon 1000 engine OR a Rincon 750 with the new CB750 / XL750 engine? They need to do something to bring that Rincon platform into the 21st century, so it can compete with the other big bore ATVs in the market today...
    ...and of course it needs a diff lock and EPS thrown in the mix too but that's a given.

    • @TheCaptjamestkirk

      A 1000 or 750 twin would be great! But what is SAD is that they don't even have power steering or diff lock on the Rincon. Forget about competing with Can Am or Polaris, right now they can't even compete with the Yamaha Grizzly, Suzuki King Quad or even the Kawasaki Brute Force, all three of these are way better all around machines than the Rincon.

      Honda lost it's cool factor with this model. They used to change the look every 3-4 years. Seems like 2014 is the long term look for them. Aside from the colors and the whopping 38cc increase (wow) in the 520 models, nothing really exciting has happened for the past (now) 10 model years.

    Sucks that we can no longer buy a new Rubicon in RED. A 750 Rubicon to compete with the KingQuad and Grizzly would be great. I know that it will never happen, but a new ATC Big Red for nostalgia would be the greatest comeback ever.

    I want Honda to put a big bore engine in the rubicon.for the most part people buy Polaris and can am and Yamaha because they have more power.i have a 2021 Honda rubicon and I ride with people that have the big bore machines and the only real difference is power especially going up long hills on trails or higher speeds on gravel road ways.I will always be last not because they are riding fast but because I am hilariously underpowered in every way. Me and thousands of other people including Honda would benefit if they would address the power issue.they are other things about the rubicon and rancher that would benefit if they were changed such as flat floor boards for your feet a lower seating position softer suspension stronger power steering but these are not everyone’s thoughts but the lack of power is.

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  Рік тому +10

      You hit the nail on the head bud! We've all said it for years and Honda's reputation has continued to help them sell ATVs, despite lacking in a few areas where the other guys have really stepped it up when it comes to misc features. Horsepower, being one of the biggest as we all know - despite what some of us say, power is massive when it comes to the overall fun factor. Yes, farmers and "regular" recreational riders aren't too concerned with power BUT I'd wager that the number of people that care about performance when buying a new unit, outnumber those farmers and rec riders. They've been able to skate by for decades now with low performance numbers because people know they can rely on them, day in and day out. But... what baffles me, is that Honda can make reliable engines to compete. They've done it time and time again from cars to motorcycles, sport ATVs, UTVs etc. So why continue to neuter the ATV lineup? This is Honda we're talking about, they could do it and still be reliable and profitable at the end of the day. Not every ATV model needs to be a high horsepower screamer but we need at least one or two utility ATVs to actually start stealing sales away from the other brands, not coasting by with the usual people that continue to buy Hondas because they know they're reliable etc. Those people will still buy Hondas when and if there are more high performance models available, so bringing in new buyers for high performance models is only going to increase sales instead of staying stagnant and continuing to bring the same thing to market, over and over while a HUGE segment of the market continues to buy other brands and wishing that Honda would step it up, so they could buy a Honda. But they won't, because just like you said, their friends all have faster machines and they don't want to be left behind all the time.
      I know it's a slippery slope and you can't make everyone happy but they really need to get on the ball and bring something exciting to their utility ATV lineup. Give us a Rincon 750 with the 91hp CB750 / CL750 engine or the 77hp Pioneer 1000 / 104hp Talon 1000 engine. They need to do something to bring some excitement back to this segment, otherwise they're going to continue to lose sales. And that's not even jumping into the more plush suspension and a few other things lol but I've rambled on enough to bore anyone attempting to read this so I'll shut up now.
      Appreciate ya watching and jumping in the conversation as always Hummy ;)

    • @hummyhero1484

      @@HondaProKevin yeah I agree. And for reliability from what I see all machines today are reliable for the most part. The big bore machines break more often because they are rode harder and get massive tires and wheels put on them.I’ve seen Polaris and can am atvs take a beating for years with thousands of miles and just keep going with the exception of bushings wheel bearings and blown belts lol but the engines are very reliable just as reliable as Honda from what I’ve seen. And making more power. It’s like a 4x4 truck you don’t need it until you do.just give us the option of more hp and to be honest I only have a Honda because it has a gear on gear transmission because I prefer that over a CVT if Polaris or can am had a gear on gear option that’s where my money would be at this point

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  Рік тому +3

      lol you got that right bud! The new features and updates they've made to the Rancher / Foreman / Rubicon over the last few years are nice but... they have yet to address one of, if not the largest concerns from people that are driving them to other brands and that's MO POWA BABY! I've said it for years, there's only so long they can skate by and not bring something to the table with more performance to compete against the other guys. They don't have to throw a ton more power at all of them but a nice little boost here and there with the addition of one or two more performance driven model would do wonders in bringing new buyers to the Honda brand, that would've went elsewhere just based on power alone. Yes, reliability is key and that's what Honda is known for but we all know Honda can make horsepower and be reliable. They've done it a million times over the decades, which is why it's still baffling to me that they've let their utility ATV segment slip so much on that front. Yes, they'll still sell if they continue to offer what they are but Honda needs to increase market share and the only way to do that is by bringing to the table what sooooo many people want and that's something that is competitive on the performance front.
      We're finally doing better on colors, which used to be a joke by Honda so kudos there for actually bringing some more options to the table over the last few years that aren't the same red, olive and camo recycled time and time again with maybe one or two other colors sprinkled in there - maybe lol.
      Supposedly, the existing Rincon's frame was the issue on them not adding EPS as they would've had to do a complete redesign and they weren't ready to do that, at the time that EPS started trickling into the lineup. Here's to hoping we see a new Rincon 1000 with the Pioneer / Talon 1000 engine or a Rincon 750 with the CB750 / XL750 engine as that would set the internet on fire due to the Rincon not being shown any love for so long. If they do that, it's going to be crazy expensive though so I'd like to see them offer another more performance oriented model or at least give the existing models a decent bump in hp/tq. I'll have some news that I can share on that front soon though ;)
      Thank you for the kind words and support as always, Tim. Really appreciate it all and you jumping in on the conversation too bud...

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  Рік тому +3

      100% bud! Honda NEEDS to step it up... The amount of people that are shying away from Honda due to the super low performance numbers is a problem. Yes, a LOT of people still buy Honda ATVs despite the power difference because of their reputation they've built over the decades but sales numbers from the other manufacturers have shown, people will buy performance, even if it means they may not have Honda's reliability at the end of the day. Honda knows how to build engines that are more performance oriented and reliable at the same time, so they need to start doing that to increase sales and steal some of the market share back that they've lost over the years. I couldn't tell you how many people I've dealt with over the years that wanted to buy a Honda, but went elsewhere because they couldn't settle for the performance drop when opting to go with Honda.
      They don't have to soup up every model, just give us one or two at least that'll compete with the other guys and that'll not only make existing Honda customers want to upgrade and other Honda loyalists will still continue to buy them as well but most importantly, it'll bring in new buyers that would've not bought a Honda. I know it's easier said than done but this is Honda, if they wanted to compete - they could.
      ...and why they haven't yet, baffles me to this day lol! Come on Honda, give us an updated Rincon with the Pioneer / Talon 1000 engine or the Rincon with the new CB750 / XL750 engine. That'd set the internet on fire and breathe some new lift into their utility ATV lineup for sure!
      Thanks for watching and jumping in on the conversation, appreciate ya ;)

      That is correct, they're moving ATV production into where they were building some of their Power Equipment line. Fingers crossed that means we've got an all new big bore ATV in the works and most importantly, they can INCREASE production on all of their ATV / SxS models as this whole limited availability ever since the rona mess is borderline ridiculous now that we're almost halfway through 2023 and yet, it's still a huge problem. Hopefully Honda of Canada will start bringing you guys some new variants of the Talon soon as well, as you guys are getting robbed up there lol!

    I just bought a 2024 Honda Rubicon 520 with the IRS or (Independent Rear Suspension) with power steering, high/low range DCT transmission, that has ESP, or AUTO as an option, with 4x4/2x4 with front differential locker, dark green in color. I’m not a huge fan of the color, but it was the best option for what I wanted at my local dealership, and personally I feel like the lime green, or light blue would have been a more favorable option in my opinion, but just not available. I would have even liked red as an option, but was just not available. For what we pay for these ATVs I think there should be way more color options, but aside from that, I’m extremely pleased with my purchase, and I’m very happy with the specifications of the rubicon lineup. This ATV is by far the best ATV I have ever owned.

      I like your thinking! But I think the Foreman engine size will stay where it's at for quite sometime.
      However, the Rincon 680 is BEYOND dated and is in massive need for an update so our odds are better on seeing it have a larger engine thrown in it. There's a couple different routes they could go and utilize an existing engine in the platform, whether it be the 77hp Pioneer 1000 engine / 104hp Talon 1000 engine or the new 91hp 750 engine that's being used in the CB750 Hornet and Transalp XL750. Throw one of those in the Rincon with a diff lock and EPS and we'd be set! She definitely wouldn't be cheap though...

    Only 365 days left until Honda's new color ATV's are released. We don't need 8 versions of the rancher. My '16 rancher outran my '20 rubicon 520 until I put a tuner and exhaust on the 520. They could consolidate rancher/foreman/rubicon to one engine and just change tuning like Canam did with the new 500/700 series. Then something like two straight axle options and 4 irs models could pretty much cover it for that rancher/foreman/rubicon platform. Then a new rincon with the large bore and all the goodies. If I am going to buy a bike today it would be the other out dated platform. The yamaha grizzly. It would suck because they raised their prices around $900 from last year. The other competitor would be the newly released CanAm 700. Might even be temped to buy a cfmoto if it was a secondary bike.

      Hondas machines are really made for work. Where they lack is in extreme trail riding which includes turning them into a ridiculous mudding or underwater swamping boat due to having single cylinder power They absolutely excel in farm work, plowing and are built to last. I’m still riding a 2005 rancher 350 ES with 3000 miles and 900 hours on it. Use it for plowing driveways, hauling wood, mulch and just about everything else and I do some normal fun trailmriding with it as well. I still see Rancher and Forman models from the late 90’s and early 2000’s in good running shape sell between $2 and $4500 depending on hours, miles, and features. They are also extremely easy to work on as well. I just replaced the starter on mine last week in under an hour. I’m not a mechanic but if you can read or follow a video tutorial you’re in business. If you’re okay with a work horse and don’t need to go over 45 mph then you’re going up the right path. Personally I won’t buy anything else because of their reliability track record.
