I LOVE THE ELEVATOR SCENE. I ran into Anna Wintour on an elevator, and honestly none of us were intimidated. I love her, but this is effing NYC. If we are running late, screw you we are all getting on the elevator.
That Calvin Klein deleted scene shows Miranda giving Andy some tips on who to connect and avoid to get the job done, sharing enough information to help her with the task. I think the producers decided to cut this scene because they wanted to introduce Miranda as stern and cold at the beginning. This scene showed some side mentoring from Miranda to Andy, a bit of sympathy shared since Andy was new.
I think the scene is also interesting because it shows that Miranda does know the fashion industry like the back of her hand, she has only dealt with Liz a few times but remembers that she does not work up to the Runway standard
Nah 4:50 should have been left in, “no get away from her she’s useless” it kills me 😂 I’ve always thought just that one scene should have been left in as it demonstrated Miranda well early on in the film and is hilariously catty
But it signified Miranda being a mentor and guiding Andy. Whereas in the movie others around her pushed her to figure things out, which in my opinion strengthens Andy and her growth throughout the movie
I wish they had kept the scene with Andy struggling to decide what to wear (and unhappily choosing the blue sweater). It would have shown her struggle with making style decisions and made her progress seem more like growth.
but then that contradicts the scene where Miranda lectures her about the fashion industry, because up to that point it was still implied that Andy didn't care about what she was wearing
Well the blonde bun girl in the elevator scene DID get thru in the cafeteria scene. Saunters up with her tray and gives an incredibly fake smile at the cashier. I hate her so much LOL. 👋🤭

These scenes showed Miranda as more human, Emily as more layered, Nigel as more tender and Andy as wildly likeable. Which is no mean feat as she was already very likeable. But I can see why these scenes were cut.
The thing is, in the book Miranda was much bigger bitch than her movie version, Meryl made her character likable, especially in the last scene, if they kept the 'Thank you' scene in, it would have changed her character completely
It wouldn't have ruined anything, she has a soft spot for Nigel openly complimenting him, I don't see why she wouldn't develop one for Andy at some point.
I liked the CK scene and the car driver scene where she learns they can use corporate cars and not subway. CK scene shows Mirandas personality and car scene explains how she was slowly getting used to good life and it changed her.
I'm glad these clips ended up on the cutting room floor. A lot of them are quite distracting from the main plot and posed contradictions to some of the characters. However, if we are making a TV series, all of these clips are essential.
Thank you Patrick! 😘 I’m keeping your comment pinned because it was the first and so many duplicate posts have been flooding the comments. I deleted the others, no point in mentioning this over and over again.
Totally. He's either being sarcastic, or unhappy, or sleeping. Maybe it's a good thing they cut these scenes, because that'd be too much of negativity coming from him
The interview with HR actually lends Andy some credit when it comes to being woefully under-prepared for the interview with Miranda. Also the "well it's this or auto-universe" line feels less bratty with it. Also the scene at the Gala where Andy smooths over the situation between Miranda's husband and Herb actually helps make the whole situation with her friends even more toxic.
I think the final movie did well without these clips. A lot of it felt like cheesy lines and filler footage. The clips of Andy actually enjoying the perks made the job too likable for her, instead of remaining more humble. The short phone calls, elevator ride, the "thank you" between Miranda and Andy were too much. The final cut really separates their connection and power until she brings the mockup book into her townhome.
I like a lot of htese Cut Scenes. Personally, although I liked the Movie- I saw it recently on Showtime- It basically is a Fascist Movie. Besides everybody being all White in the Movie- it glorifies treating People- the Non Elite- Badly.
I personally enjoyed two of these scenes in theory: the elevator ride and the "thank you" scene. Not how they were shot, but just their overall idea. The elevator moment added nothing to Andy and Miranda's dynamic because it cut in nearly two seconds, with Andy shutting up after attempting small talk and Miranda not even saying anything. I personally believe this scene, if it were even added, should've been a full fledged moment. My rewriting would've gone like: Let's say the elevator fails. There is a big bump, stumbling, and then little flicking of lights before darkness. Miranda and Andy are quiet for a second- before Andy jumps in and asks if Miranda is okay- before the latter interrupts with some sort of 'fix it.' or huff, or barked order idk. Instead of being entirely cliché, there IS service in this elevator and they will be let out soon enough. This window of time would allow Andy and Miranda to overcome some sort of awkward phase, not become friends, not becoming close, but probably having Miranda end up saying something extremely personal. I don't know what this would be, but it'd be fun to see just a smidge of sympatheticness. I would've personally made this scene to happen before Andy and Miranda go into the horrible showing, and connect it to before Andy finds Miranda while she's fighting with her husband. Miranda could've could've late to their dinner because of it. However, no matter how I write it, it still feels very of of character. Like i said, I like it in theory- the moment just didn't add anything worth while. The second scene I liked was the 'thank you' scene, but I would've written it like: Everyone is seated at their respective tables. Instead of Stephen embarrassing Miranda just once, it kinda happens every few minutes in very little moments. He's a bit crass and blunt, while obviously intoxicated with no real care for his wife's dedication. He feels protective of Miranda, in the way weird 'alpha' men do, which has Andy saving Miranda's ass more than once. I understand both scenes were very out of character, and my rewriting wasn't really amy better- but I still think they were pretty cool scenes. I wouldn't have minded both scenes to begin with, as they were very strong ideas in theory, but they really lacked what made the movie bask in its simplistic yet entertaining power dynamic.
I like the deleted scene with the boyfriend pretending to be Andy running off to his friend. It was cute. Also the scene where Andy saves Mr. Ravitz from embarrassment. It may have given reason as to why Ravitz wanted to replace Miranda, and also showed why Miranda chose Andy for Paris.
7:23 that scene just confirms how big of a jerk Nate was. EW that guy. His poker game with his bros is more important than Andy's carrer. UGH. She stormed off because you WERE an asshole, and YOU should have apologized to her, not the opposite....
As i read the second book, The revenge of the prada, i can't unseen emily blunt as emily. She really fits the role and so as Anne as An-dre-uh. She really struggles even in the book how to dress up despite working in a a high fashion magazine
Man, Stanley Tucci was dressed to kill in this film. Just check out his 3 piece windowpane suit at 8:58. His shoes there are also top tier, just look at how they're styled.
The only scene they should’ve kept in was the one about her having a driver (just up until she gets in the car) because that always confused me in the movie. She seems to get a ride home after missing Nate’s bday and the driver assures her that Nate will forgive her. I never understood that because they imply that she makes very little money and is of no importance to Miranda (so why would she get her own private car?)
Der Film ist einfach klasse gemacht und die zwei Hauptdarsteller genial. So viel Arroganz die Meryl Streep in die Rolle einbringt, phantastisch...kann ich mir immer wieder anschauen
I actually like two scenes in particular. The elevator scene is just downright funny, but the scene where Miranda's obviously drunk husband makes the remark to Herb and Andy distracts him was smart then to top it Miranda whispers Thank You. If you recall Andy and Nigel talking and how she felt underappreciated not even a Thank You it would of been a great scene. I think those were some good scenes for sure.
@@Maatjuhhh I am assuming when you talk about Miranda being warned from Andy about Jaquline replacing her then yes I can see how that could lessen the impact and maybe changed the entire outcome of the ride in the car when Andy says she couldn't do what she did to Nigel. I see your point now.
I can see why they left it out though. It really doesn’t seem in character for Miranda to do something like that. Maybe a head nod or something more subtle but the cliche mouthing “Thank you” is over the top and it breaks the impersonal icy veneer too much and feels off.
@@Maatjuhhh Yes that to me showed even the toughest of tough can break apart. I know her whole reason for the scene was saying how Rupert Murdoch has made a fortune off her in the tabloids and that all she really cared about were the kids and how they felt. It makes me wonder truly if she cared about anyone because in the very next breath she goes right back into the seating chart and has no intentions of cancelling her evening after Andy suggests it. Can Miranda really be that cold even though we see a moment of despair?
emily is damn good with her job. Imagine she's doing everything even before and after andy came. The only thing about andy is that she has an insight on how to do the job well.
Im glad they cut the scene with Miranda uttering thank you at Andy for stepping in with her drunk husband. It would have changed Miranda's entire tone going forward.
Wow. Liz at CK scene assumed Miranda doesn't remember her, but Miranda does. I mean, Liz would have been so happy if she knows that, though for the not so good reasons.
I still can't believe Andy stayed with Nate lol I never liked him, a man that cries and makes you choose between your career and him is a big red flag haha
lol. A job that makes you choose between career an your relationship is a red flag for a job. That is like the whole point of the movie which you appear to have missed completly.
If the scene could have been reworked, I think the one where Miranda gets out of the car in traffic would have shown another facet of her personality and an example of how she was able to become the powerhouse she is. This was an instance where not even Andy had control of the situation. The car wasn't going to move and unlike the hurricane ironically, no factor was going to change to reality of the situation. It would have made Miranda a bit more human because I feel to get where she was at that stage in life, she had to once work as hard as Andy, if not harder to get there. She was probably did once have to realize there was things that can't be changed. She's made it to a point where she can get anything she wants for the most part, practically everything. But sometimes she can't, and when she can't, she will figure out the next best possible strategy, including humbling herself and walking a few blocks to get where she's going.
I'm actually glad they didn't include the scene where the Runway interview is sprung on Andy the day of because it just makes her feel like more of a victim. The final movie cut makes it seem like Andy just didn't care enough to prepare for the interview because she thought fashion was a joke, and that's way more interesting for the character's growth.
Some of these scenes would have made some parts make sense, the movie was still great without these little bits. They did an amazing job and this movie.
7:26 - Shows Miranda's masked desperation for efficiency and time management. She keeps a stern face and sunglasses to hide a hustling brain. 8:44 - Shows her unwillingness to make conversation for the sake of saving time. She answered the question, did not make eye contact, and moved on. 14:09 - Getting close and placing heads to turn her husband's attention as a way to control the situation. 14:21 Andy picks up the play and tags in too. 3:12 - Keeping this line in would've set up an implied relationship between Andy and Nigel after Andy's "I'm not your baby" line near the end of the movie. 5:09 - They should've kept this in, in my opinion.
Wow, it's like discovering half the movie you had skipped somehow LOL. Thanks for uploading these 💜 How did you find these? Do you work in the movie industry? I've never seen those anywhere, it's like these scenes come from an alternat euniverse LOL.
Definitely see why most of them were cut, it wouldn't have added any benefit to the movie. However, I absolutely loved the scene where Nigel is giving Andy advice before the gala, it just fits in with him mentoring her throughout the movie! Love all of their scenes together. Also another user commented about keeping the first corporate car scene because it explains how Andy is able to get around in the luxury car and not by subway which we would naturally assume given her occupation, totally agree. Anyways, a classic movie I will always be happy to watch over and over and over again!
Hello, I'm the French actor in the last one minute scene at the hotel in Paris (starts at 15:00_bell boy with Anne Hathaway). I was wondering if there's any way I could get this footage. Although it's dated I'd love to have it. Thank you
I cant believe they took out the shots that had a reference later in the movie. Nigel spins Andy in the beginning, and then he does another with her in Paris. And then the scene of her picking out the lumpy blue sweater then being cleared by Miranda later that day

The deleted scenes are the best bits!
You have no idea.. how much I wished to see this video versus that entire movie.😂
I love the very last scene. I stayed at the Plaza Athenee in Paris and a double room was VERY expensive. I cannot even imagine what a suite cost.
14:49 telling me why Andy should dump her bf so much…. Like he might be successful but he doesnt on the same speed with Andy. The level is different .
10:33 Miranda Prietsley somehow does not strike me as a person who would hav ea windchime at the entrance of her Downtown townhouse LOL
It's her way of knowing if people came in
Could easily be a 2 hour film with these scenes included
Many thanks.
As it is i couldn't get enough of the movie.
Cannot believe how much money and resources were spent making all these shots that never made it.
THANK YOU💚
I needed this so much
These scenes in 4K are fantastic 🍿♥️
Fabulous ❤. Editing is quite the task. A movie in itself practically. Bravo
OMG SOOOO MANY GREAT CUT SCENES❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
One of my favorite films. Thanks for sharing!!
The worst thing about this movie is that they never have a sequel
I'm actually glad they didn't include the scene where the Runway interview is sprung on Andy the day of because it just makes her feel like more of a victim.
The final movie cut makes it seem like Andy just didn't care enough to prepare for the interview because she thought fashion was a joke, and that's way more interesting for the character's growth.
All the scenes surrounding the skirts storyline should have been kept. I liked those.
I love movie driving: they always find a parking space right where they need it. Bliss.
This is hidden treasure
The Emily and Nigel scenes were the best of this bunch and they would have been the most viable. But they weren’t crucial so I get it.
This is from the BluRay
They were on the DVD
Absolutely correct.
Girl deleted scenes are on like every dvd, chill
Thanks for showing them 😍❤👏👏
I wish a lot of the edited scenes were kept and others cut. It helps to clear up issues with the characters and shows a easier transition of scenes.
This looks great
Wish they’d keep the elevator and Miranda’s office scene
Hello, I'm the French actor in the last one minute scene at the hotel in Paris (starts at 15:00_bell boy with Anne Hathaway). I was wondering if there's any way I could get this footage. Although it's dated I'd love to have it. Thank you
I sent you a DM through instagram.
AMO esta película, estaba deseando que el video nunca termine😭
I cant believe they took out the shots that had a reference later in the movie. Nigel spins Andy in the beginning, and then he does another with her in Paris. And then the scene of her picking out the lumpy blue sweater then being cleared by Miranda later that day
Emily's comment in 2:05 was very important to the plot please 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What she said?
Thank you! This is amazing! It makes clear many moments in the film ❤
4:03 really wish they kept this scene always wondered how andy got around
WONDERFUL I LOVE IT THANKS FOR SHARE ❤❤❤
If they kept these clips in the movie , it would have had a whole different slant .
Can we get a new re release of the film with all the scenes? Just so it can be longer?
I would love to see a second part the devil wears prada but in Paris even if not exactly as in the second book but it would be nice
Anybody notice Miranda’s house is where Dan and Serena got married in gossip girl
In these scenes you can see how Andy though was above everything and certainly changes the development.
