As someone who had to be very dressed up in the corporate world, I purchased a pair CL similar to these babies many years ago when they started at $495. I was wowed at the fit. Once I understood their sizing, I was amazed that a patent leather point toe pump could be so comfortable after all day wear. While a high heel will eventually bother the ball of the foot when on them for hours, the upper felt like a leather slipper the entire time. No joke. Not one bit of pressure. I understand why they are loved. This man makes a sexy shoe as comfortable as you can get. Thank you for the review.
They run closer to French shoe sizing instead of EU/Italian sizing even though they are made in Italy. For example: EU/Italian size 37.5 is the equivalent to 7 US size which is equivalent to 38 in French sizing. The UK equivalent to 7US is 4.5 or 5 for UK brands like Paul Green and you will notice reviews will say they run big. Not so. It is they are marked with UK sizing. So when I ask for my CL size, I will usually begin with a 38 (same for Chanel) It the size that works for me most of the time. @@PharmDQueen
That's crazy you say that cause CL are the most uncomfortable shoe I've ever tried on. I could not purchase them and was really shocked. They're painful and I was trying on sizes that are 4 sizes larger than what I am. They were laughable and the guy helping me with my fit couldn't even fit me in their largest size, I'm normally a us size 8, but their largest shoe felt like I was trying on a us size 6. I asked the man helping me if this is a common issue and he says it happens to most people he helps. Any other shoe at the boutique was great compared to the CL. I'd compare the shoes to wearing shoes made of wood. I tried another boutique and the same experience. Edit: On a side note, if you bought these when they were at $495, there's actually a good chance they were made with better materials compared to now.
@MissBliss818 I was surprised at this comment as well, maybe she's one kf the fewer people that actually fit those shoes naturally by chance, buy giving that the creator himself said those shoes are meant for walking I have to believe him✔️
I understand. The time we spend in life trying on clothing and shoes to find what fits us perfectly can be so frustrating! Fortunately, there are so many luxury brands that make shoes just a beautiful (or more so) as CL's so you have many options. Yes I purchased the pumps a long time ago. I also have a pair of CL flats that I bought 2 years ago and they feel like they were custom made for my foot. But not every brand works for every shape foot (I cannot wear Chloe or Marni). Like body shapes, there are different foot and toe shapes.. Correct size is important but it is one part of the equation. Overall foot and toe shape is another factor. Different brands (luxury to cheap) will feel better on certain foot shapes depending on the overall foot patterns the designer/brand use in the construction. We spend so much time on our feet, choosing a shoe that fits us well is more important than any brand.

Shoe repairer here. Anchoring the shoe on something like a laste and peeling the sole up with the widest, most round headed pliers you have is the fastest way to remove the sole.
What CL has in terms of quality that other fancy shoe brands don’t is the heel caps - they are the strongest I’ve seen even with the stiletto heel. Others just crumble but CL ones look pristine. Nothing I paid for at the shoe repair shop can compare to them as well.
My wife bought these and actually had the bottom of the sole done with a new red gripped section at a local cobbler. He only applied this to the part that touches the ground and it looked 100% like it was meant to be there. The shoes literally lasted her a decade of use at work and they still looked amazing when she retired them because they had finally stretched a little too much.
My grandfather would applaud you in deconstructing the shoe - he used to laugh at my 'Italian' leather shoes I would bring to him for repair, he'd describe them as cardboard shoes. He certainly had a point and helped me appreciate quality leather and craftsmanship

Pigalle 85s (the ones featured in this video) are actually pretty comfortable after you’ve worn them in (assuming you are experienced in walking in anything higher than kitten heels). Even for CL patent leather, which takes much longer to stretch. Feels very similar to Calvin Klein Gayle pumps which is a useful starter pair. Pigalle 85 is my only pair of CLs. Jimmy Choo Romy 85, Gianvito Rossi Gianvito 85, and Manolo Blahnik BB 90 pumps are all similar styles that prioritize weight balance and comfort a bit more than CL. That said, nude Pigalle 85s in patent are an iconic design that go with pretty much every outfit in every season.
I got a knock off of Louboutin shoes (same design, just without the red soles) that was custom made for my foot shape (I have flat feet that are very narrow) for about 250 us dollars in Seoul. The folks there bought real Louboutins and ripped them apart and made patterns, and adjust them for every customer. It took a few weeks, as there is backup of orders. later I bought Louboutins of a similar style that was 3 times the price. It was oddly as comfy as a custom made shoe. But I did not have to wait. ..and it made me feel a bit better knowing I did not have a knock off shoe.

Same! I love my Louboutins, but I only wear them when I’ll be at a place I can mix being on my feet with some time sitting otherwise I can only last a couple hours. But I knew that going in-even Christian Louboutin himself said they aren’t made for comfort. They rival my Manolos so those are my special occasion shoes, really. They make me feel a certain way when I wear them, so that’s why I love them but I get why a lot of people wouldn’t go for that :)
Depends on the style. I have a few CL 85mm heels, patent & suede (like Pigalle style) and they are comfy. The secret is to stretch them first (walk around the house with your socks on). Wore them for a gala for 4 hours, no problem.
Thanks for this review, good to know these are not only pretty but also well done, since I bought a pair of Louboutin for my wife ;) while I agree, that there are cheaper brands, their designs are often perfect, especially the more extreme styles (like the So Kate). They even manage to create platform heels, which don’t look like they came straight from an adult movie. I just hope they won’t switch to „vegan” leather (recently Giuseppe Zanotti did a lot of these :/). Would it be possible for you to do in the feature a teardown of a Maison Ernest bag or heels?
Love your videos! Such drama from such a mundane task of tearing apart a shoe. The suspense was killing me 😃. Those red soles are what make people pay the price. Lol. But now, I would like to know what the other pumps are that are of comparable quality but much more reasonably priced? Dare you tell us? TY for sharing your knowledge!
I love CL. He makes many options and you have to find the ones that are comfortable for you (and wear them in a bit of course). I've had the classics for years, and a few other interesting pieces. I will continue to purchase them. (Edit - interesting fact and love that you refer to red nail paint look... Christian had the idea from an assistant painting her nails red! And so he just started using the polish to paint a sole. So, it's great he has kept that look. He calls the red an "accident" himself.)
I was really surprised by a pair of flat leather Isabel Marant sandals I got that I thought qould last me forever. There was a diamond cut-out pattern all over the straps, which crossed in an "x" in the front with a slingback strap in the back. The straps looked like a thick, solid piece of leather, but split after only one summer of wear almost everywhere. It was just two thin pieces of leather glued togerher, and I had to crazy-glue them back together myself. They were also not attached that well to the leather sole, and the straps were starting to split apart at the base where they attach to the sole. To top it off, they painted the leather of the footbed black to go with the black of the rest of the leather sole, but it began wearing off the footbed almost immediately. Not impressed for like $500 CAD.
I remember falling in love with Christian Louboutin’s creations about 10 years ago. Since then I have invested in over 30 pairs. I regret not one purchase. I just returned from Paris and visited his flagship store. Did you know you can creates custom shoes in just that store?? Yes, yes I did ;) 👠
They are worth it. The comfort, the company stands behind the product, the warranties, the durability. I’ve had one pair of mine for over six years. If you take good care of them and take them and send them in for replacing , etc., they last
Thank you great video. I will now consider actually buying his shoes which I always had questions about. They are quality shoes. Yes they are expensive but at 59 I don't buy alot of shoes anymore. I own hundreds of shoes and I enjoy your videos because it's about the quality for me. I appreciate your channel.
I sell this brand all the time and getting the RIGHT heel height is very important and the mistake many do is trying to go TOO high. When I assist someone who complains that they are uncomfortable once I get them to try on a 85mm heel they realize that should have been the heel height they should have purchased.
materials are one thing but the actual design of the shoe to give you proper support for the foot is a whole other problem. I am considering getting into shoe making literally just to design few shoes to show the world how heels should be done. been struggling with good heels all my life 😫 have one solid pair only and of course it’s from a dance designer.
I hope you do more shoes. Luxury shoes always seem to me to be really well made and much better than regular shoes (in comparison to bags where brands like coach make better quality than Ysl)
I'd be really interested in see your opinion on Thursday boots. I have the captain in the rugged and resilient matte black leather and I'm planning on getting their moc toe as well. They're the first boot I ever bought that when I opened the box I was hit with real leather scents and they're probably my favorite boots I've ever owned
It’s Manolo Blahnik that’s the most uncomfortable shoe I’ve ever had in my feet. It was so bad that even when I was just trying them on, I knew instantly that if I kept wearing them, I would end up in blisters within minutes. Absolute nightmare! With Louboutin shoes, their biggest issue is very high heel that can be difficult to walk on, but apart from that, wouldn’t give me any blisters
I have been working as a ladies shoes factory worker in Italy for more than 15 years. I can tell you about producing these shoes that they cost a lot. For example just assembly of all these parts into a 👠 upper to the heels and sole cost nearly 100 Euro then cutting and of leather in upper and sewing cost at least 50 Euro assembly of covering of heel with leather and attaching to sole of the shoe costs a couple of dozen all these processes take place in different specialised places by experts. Then you have costs of materials, publicity and managing everything. So don't think that these people make a lot of money on that.
Great to see the quality layers on the outside. I would like to know more about that. Red cushioning layer inside. We saw you peel it off towards the end of the disassembly. Look like some kind of closed cell foam. It was very thin that must have provided some limited comfort. Also I would like to see more how the heelshank is made. I didn't see any medal just cardboard? And how does the heel attach to that?
Tanner, would you consider cutting up and telling us about the Saint Laurent Wyatts? These have been their most popular men's shoe ever and they're loved by so many. But are they actually worth it? They're very inconsistent in sizing and usually have flaws with the different sizing of each boot etc. For their price tag, my boyfriend and I would like to know if they're worth it! Thank you! Your videos are the best on UA-cam!
The ease with which the heel cap and iconic red leather peeled off the shoe were truly astounding. The leather is good but the glue could be better...Or you know, they could be sewn like REAL shoes. Usually this channel discusses the workmanship/craftsmanship and it's sad to see that isn't the case in this video. Maybe you should collab with Rose Anvil. They could tell you way more about the construction of the shoe than just the quality of the leather.
I have a paid of Louboutins and I have to say , one of the most uncomfortable heels. I have a pair of espadrilles. too narrow and designed for very flat feet. But the quality is pretty good. I prefer Casadei ( my fav shoe brand for pumps and boots ). Are the Loubis worth it ? not really. They can look beautiful but they are meant to be looked at , not designed for wearing unless u want painful experience
My first reaction to seeing that pair of shoes was have a mental OUCH go off repeatedly in my head. Once upon a time I used to torture myself in order to be fashionable. I will admit to being surprised about the quality components. My favorite brand is Naturalizer. I can walk all day long in their three inch heels and be comfortable. As I don't do stiletto's, I don't have accidents with heels catching on things outdoors. Naturalizer probably no longer is considered a mid-range brand. If it is then it's at the lowest end of it. That said, I love that the shoes hold up well for years and are padded enough to make life pleasant.
I'm a self-professed Louboutin girl here... the quality of the materials in the Pigalle does not surprise me at all. I also know that even with the beautiful high-quality materials, luxury items are always overpriced. The price exudes understated elegance and taste and sends a statement that "I belong in an exclusive class of well-fashioned in-the-know's"; this shouldn't be a jaw-dropping surprise to anyone. If you're not hurting anyone and you enjoy this lifestyle and... a really awesome pair of shoes, then why not? I once bought a pair of Payless sandals for casual walking-around-in for a vacation and they literally fell apart on me while I was out and about. Never again... for a bit more, it is well worth the pay-per-use for a better-made shoe that will last and is comfortable, as well. One does not have to specifically buy high-end luxury; we really should stay away from fast fashion trends and products for the sake of the environment and value per dollar.
@lv293 ▪︎ is it possible for one person to decide for another person(s) whether or not an item is worth its price tag? Worth is dependent upon so many factors.
I am glad to know that at least this brand does at least use the highest quality in their shoes. I follow along with videos showing how bad quality is some high end , way overpriced handbags but at least the shoes here are backed up with quality. For now at least they are, perhaps they will end up doing what the other high fashion houses are doing and shoving out quantity over quality. Anyway, I own two pairs of CL shoes, they are gorgeous but because I can no longer wear heels, I cannot wear them. One is a pair of gorgeous Oxford style. I wish I could wear them again.
This video is awesome! I’m still not sure whether these shoes are worth the price, but that’s a personal perception as, for me, they do look a bit uncomfortable. Just curious what would be good alternatives 😊
Many thanks for sharing your opinion. So it is very good quality shoes but that should not be sold for 795 euros but 250 euros considering the cost of fabrics and the worker's salary. It means that the luxury brands make an a.. of us all ! It doesn't worth the price. I have always known it but never found such a clear demonstration.
So these shoes are cheaper but because he wants money and be rich he hyped up the price. There are so many good shoes out there you don’t need to spend stupid money. My personal opinion.
I like that you are expanding into shoes. You are so helpful in providing insight into what the shopper is paying for.

@@tanner.leathersteinI purposely call it plastic when I come across someone who euphemistically calls it "vegan."
Hope they switch to Vegan. No designer should be using leather.
Yes!! I want to know too!!
Same! Name names, Sir!
Probably the first review without any disappointment for him.
Amazing! Glad to see these are of quality 🎉🎉🎉
Wow. These shoes are more well made than I thought. And they are beautiful. I'd want to buy a thicker, shorter heel though.
He calls the red an "accident" himself.)
and you believe that story?
@@dominikmuller5021 er yes. Why would you bother lying about that. I only read it last year in an interview.. he doesn’t exactly shout about it.
If you take good care of them and take them and send them in for replacing , etc., they last
Thank you, my favourite shoe designer. I have a beautiful pair of patent heels and they haven't lost shape
Thank you great video. I will now consider actually buying his shoes which I always had questions about. They are quality shoes. Yes they are expensive but at 59
I don't buy alot of shoes anymore. I own hundreds of shoes and I enjoy your videos because it's about the quality for me. I appreciate your channel.
This was an amazing product, it even looks worth it
Can we get a Goyard piece in the future?
Beautiful, thank you! @@tanner.leatherstein
Those shoes are *the most uncomfortable* shoes I’ve ever worn! Sold mine after 1 wear, and never looked back
I sell this brand all the time and getting the RIGHT heel height is very important and the mistake many do is trying to go TOO high.
Sooo excited ur doin shoes!!!!!!!
Thanks for video! Is there a part two? I was curious about some of the layers and other components of the shoe and what you though of them.
I hope you do more shoes. Luxury shoes always seem to me to be really well made and much better than regular shoes (in comparison to bags where brands like coach make better quality than Ysl)
Finally my favourite brand❤
Well-explained, Thank you for this video!
I have mine and still have it for 3 years now. Great quality as it lasts long
The most uncomfortable shoes.
@@tanner.leathersteinnot all. Hermes makes a comfortable shoes and YSL tributoo heels I can run in. Comfortable city ❤
Man I'm wanting to buy Balenciaga Defenders and I'm not sure if they're well constructed or not, but I love the way they look
They do look so elegant
I have been working as a ladies shoes factory worker in Italy for more than 15 years. I can tell you about producing these shoes that they cost a lot. For example just assembly of all these parts into a 👠 upper to the heels and sole cost nearly 100 Euro then cutting and of leather in upper and sewing cost at least 50 Euro assembly of covering of heel with leather and attaching to sole of the shoe costs a couple of dozen all these processes take place in different specialised places by experts. Then you have costs of materials, publicity and managing everything. So don't think that these people make a lot of money on that.
You often mention that there are cheaper alternatives for the same quality. Could you maybe give some suggestions for both bags and shoes?
I have this exact shoe, but bought years ago when the prices were lower
I should have bought it back then as well. I debated back n forth since $200-ish was a huge stretch for me back then. But now it's worse 😢
Can you please do ferragamo? I ve been imprrssed with their shoes and recently bought s crossbody. Your opinion would be appreciated.
❤Wow! fantastic quality. Was hard work to get them destroyed.
Watching you rip the show apart broke my heart. Lol
Great review! Can you recommend some affordable brands that do shoes really well? Thank you!
Could you make of list of categories of leathers that are worth it vs not?
@lv293 ▪︎ is it possible for one person to decide for another person(s) whether or not an item is worth its price tag? Worth is dependent upon so many factors.
That's my shoes. Love them. I paid more than $795 with my other shoes.
It was interesting to hear what makes a quality pair.
I wish you could tell me what other alternative brands are
I can already tell you the answer is NO.
This video is awesome! I’m still not sure whether these shoes are worth the price, but that’s a personal perception as, for me, they do look a bit uncomfortable. Just curious what would be good alternatives 😊
LK Bennett are fantastic!
He‘s the JerryrigEverything of fancy leather stuff! 👠
CL has quality items!!!!!
I would love to know how you feel about their bags as well as cheaper brands, like Tory Burch or Liebesking
Oh, God. Now I want a pair 😭
They are beautiful shoes.
Can you deconstruct a men's Louboutin dress shoe?
Are they goodyear welted?
Do you think you could do a Blackstock & Weber review?
I am missing your opinion on leather parts price + craftmanship, would you say it's around 200?
Great video!
£453 (including shipping) was the price in 2015 for IRIZA PATENT
Love your videos
Would love to see a video on Gucci Horsebit 1953 loafers.
love that you are dong shoes too! can you do one for Valentino shoes as well?
Thank you! Valentino is on our list, maybe next year.
Would be great if you had shared some photos of the components. Like if there were nails or reinforcement on the leather
Is it possible to explain what is a patent leather?
At least they used good quality materials, it is not just only marketing
Would it be a little easier to walk if the heel wasn't placed that far too the edge? I know they are dinner shoes, but wondering.
You always they are other brands, but what are they? I would love to know. I care more about quality than names, but where do we start???
Thank you , that was interesting
Appreciate it. Thank you!
Please do mens Saint Laurent boots!
Yes, if you're a networker, yes.
Do you sell custom shoes?
I always heard that Louboutins are extremely uncomfortable. To me a quality shoe has to have design, materials, craftsmanship, AND comfort.
I miss the longer deconstructions
So these shoes are cheaper but because he wants money and be rich he hyped up the price. There are so many good shoes out there you don’t need to spend stupid money. My personal opinion.
You didn’t say how much it would cost with just the materials. Any idea? I know you said there’s a mark up, I’m just wondering how large of a markup.
Would be nice if you give examples of brands with the same quality, like a Spanish brand. 😊
Loewe and Strathberry are excellent examples of brands that offer high-quality leather goods.
