My 2 sons and I are planning a trip to Scotland in the spring. It’s October and we are all really excited. Am watching as many of these videos as possible just to get a lay of the land. We are going to try to NOT be tourists but to enjoy the people, the pubs, the food and the country that I know is a wonderful place to live.
My ancestors came from the north west of Scotland a hundred years ago. I grew up with the accent about me. Paintings of the highlands hung in my home. The terrain and it’s people are deep within my blood. Thank you for your lovely video.
Just returned from Scotland recently passing Loch Lomond, Glencoe, Fort William, then taking the magnificent road to Kyle of Lochalsh as you did. Then taking the Skye bridge to Portree and beyond to Staffin and The Quiraing. We loved every minute but unfortunately didn't get much of the sunny weather you seemed to. Good video Andy, thanks for posting!
This is such a blessing to pop up out of nowhere! I used to live nr Applecross & spent many summers at my aunt and uncles croft, Salachar...my cousins went to school at plockton as week boarders... thank you for this wonderful trip
I was up round the Isle of Skye and Plockton last year on my motorcycle. Simply stunning views, friendly people and the roads are fantastic for motorcycle touring. As soon as this lockdown is over I'm booking the boat.. PS.. A beautiful video
Been to Plockton. In summer it is tropical and beautiful. Journeyed from Fort William. Malaig rd is stunning. Got the ferry to Isle of Sky. Took the bridge back to Fort William
We stayed in a beautiful cottage in Ardheshlaig, just round the bend from Shieldaig, in February '20 so all these places are still fresh in my memory and very much in my heart. Little did we know such a short time ago how precious all memories of our Bonnie Scotland would become right now. Scotland is waiting for each of us to return to her magnificent beauty. Thank you for reminding me of that.
One of my best Holidays was when we stayed in a rented House in Balmacara, we had an an uninterrupted view of Skye to look at every morning and evening, just beautiful.
When I went, I was hoping for wind and rain to get the maximum effect. I wasn't disappointed! Recommed a visit here to everyone (unless you're after sun and sand).
Andy, your channel is quality mate. I`ll have a browse through when I have the time. You`re the only channel I`ve come across,( apart from my own), that narrates the videos.I think that`s a good thing to let the viewers know what`s going on.Keep on filming!
Thank you both for viewing - your comments are very much appreciated. My mother was born in Lewis and I hope that the feelings I have for the West Highlands comes out in the videos
I once cycled up the Applecross pass. On my way up a French family passed in their car, windows wound down and kids cheering in the back. I had a welcoming party ten minutes later when I reached the top!
Oh yes, I agree with everybody. This is so beautiful -just want to get up and go there. Excellent production; I guess it`s HD? and the commentary in that lovely accent....And to think all this started by me seeing Hamish Macbeth on Danish TV!!!
@chopanddilly1 Thank you for viewing - I am grateful for your comments. Although the video was recorded in HD it was only edited in SD. Roll on the better weather.
Smashing Andy! The pass of Glencoe is my favourite place in the whole country, particularly when it's a dreach day with loads of atmosphere! Eilean Donan Csstle is another firm favourite, having only visited once but totally smitten with the pace and it's wonderful scenery. Cracking shot of the train!!!! (5:31)
The naval patrol vessel (P562) seen in the Kyle of lochalsh was the danish ship HDMS Viben which was decommissioned in 2010 after only 14 years of service.
Ahh Plockton, I’ve have had a few fine meals there & got totally slaughtered into the bargain. That’s when Kyleakin was my second home just before the bridge was finished, always staying with Denis & Hazel in the first B&B on the right as you got off the ferry from Kyle. They were happy, happy days.
The opening shots are in Glencoe, then I pass the Commando Memorial near Spean Bridge, through Glen Shiel to Letterfearn at the south side of Loch Duich, Eilean Donan Castle at Dornie, Kyle of Lochalsh, Duirinish, Plockton then on across then past Strathcarron to end my trip at Shieldaig. Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for the great video Andy! We stayed in the Lochalsh area and made a point of visiting Plockton (aka "Lochdubh") on our recent Highlands and Islands adventure. Your video brings back some fantastic memories!
nice video but please ,scenic is not pronounced with short E but long E so sounds like sceenic, hate to sound nit picking but it is our native language .
Mike Fuller Eh! Wrong country! The Lake District is situated in the north of England, whilst Glen Coe is in the Highlands of Scotland! Google is your friend.
Christopher’smum I wouldn’t give this individual the satisfaction of a reply, I’m pretty positive he’s looking to wind folk up with such an idiotic question/statement.

Stunning scenery, my ancestors wouldn't have known what struck them when they were forced to migrate from Plockton to Australia in 1852.

The new Skye bridge is bloody horrible! Great video, though.
Beautiful part of the world but property is expensive and there's a very high cost of living.
Plockton: Heaven.

Mountains are my least favourite scenery.

So beautiful, shame that Ms sturgeon wants to give it to the EU,,, not going to get the chance so they say,, 🙄
Take it you prefer being ruled by that corrupt mob of right wing capitalists at Westminster that don’t give a damn about Scotland.
Bridge of Skye is horrible, ugly.
