I appreciate the return to the MAX 10K with the tweaks and optimization. No need to change your opinion, but definitely presented a more complete picture.
Don’t let companies or consumers try to persuade you to tell them what they want to hear. You guys give honest reviews and if people can’t accept it then it’s their problem.
Got fitted today, tried the Callaway, TM and Ping. Went with the Ping 10k, much more forgiving with pretty much the same ball speed as the others for me. Averaged about 158 ball speed. My toe bangers stayed playable. Can't wait to get it on the course.
Any chance to see the fitted g430 max vs the fitted g430 max 10k? A lot of us who overdraw would like to see if the toe side weight might be an advantage vs the 10k without one! Great video!
I really like the adjustable weight vs the fixed on the 10K. Toe side weight, De loft a degree and adjust to the F minus for a 3 degree flatter lie and you really un hook the 430 max. Less options on the 10K, even though it is clearly a sweet driver. I just got a clearance 425 Max because I just don't think the 430max or 10K max are worth the extra $200. Once that 430 Max goes on discount, I think it is the clear winner over the 10K for now. But all this is being said without hitting either of the 430s.
Spin rates (on thin strikes) and faster club speed (with same swing speed) show that spinsistency and turbulators are not gimmicks! I'm definitely putting the 10k in the bag this season.
This is the second serious professional review that I see where, when with all elements equal, the 430Max flies 15 yards longer than the QiMax. Interesting... However, if I am not mistaking, the 10K marketing revolves around MOI, it´d be interesting to see the same comparison with similar mishits all over the club face. Thank you for your outstanding work
Ian going back to a ping driver?! With results like that, I don’t think an extra 5 yards is worth sacrificing the ease and consistency of this one. Great spin numbers. Even thin fades under 2900. Incredible.
Really happy to see you guys revisit these - especially the G430 Max 10K. I love Ping drivers, but do benefit from the flat-minus hosel setting and a lighter weight (I have a 19g in my G430 LST). It seemed obvious in the first video that the stock set-up just wasn’t going to work for Ian, and I hoped that wouldn’t be the last time we’d see the G430 Max 10K. I agree that a PXG comparison would be useful too!
The TM not going in Ian’s bag anytime soon but the Ping looked like a good set up. The TM very spinny for a club at 7.5* with a good player attached to it. Wasn’t particularly straight either.
THANK YOU for updating and you just put an exclamation point behind your statement of “That’s why it’s so important to get fit”!!!! Not the club for Ian but might be the club for someone else.
Well done for listening to the feedback from your viewers on the Ping G430 Max 10k video. While both drivers were impressive, the Ping 10k with the weight change, loft and shaft was amazing for Ian. I would love to see a few more hits over the club face though, let’s give Mikey a go 😂
The only time I’ve ever not cared for a video that you guys (Ian) produced was the initial review of the PING MAX 10K. I am happy that you decided to go back and do it justice by attempting to make it work (like you should for all new club reviews I mean you are club “fitters” for crying out loud!). Nevertheless, in the end it might not be THE club that goes in your bag but with a couple more tweaks it’s going to be close. Especially after you get frustrated when you aren’t hitting more fairways later this season with whatever lower spinning concoction you come up with 😂 That being said, keep teeing it high but just hit down on it a little more like you do with the lower tee height. Don’t be afraid to put a couple idiot marks on the top of that thing! Once you do, you know that you’ll knock another 200-300 rpm’s off and when that happens it’s going to be real hard to not put out in your bag.
I remember buying the G430 Max when it came out, and I got sloppy with it thinking it was an auto pilot driver. It isn't. You still need to deliver the head to the ball well enough to get the most out of off centre hits. I think Ping seen the disappointment in owners that the Max didn't have the carbon crown, and rushed to get this out. When I demo'd the Qi10 against my TSi3, I couldn't believe how high it was going. Lowest was 106ft and the highest was 140ft. My first thought was that people would get done for buying straight off the shelf without a fit.
If only there were lower lofted head options. Love that you can get an 8 degree TM and turn it down to a 6. The Ping only going down to 7.5 just makes it really tough for those who need the lower loft to choose Ping even if they want to.
Were both drivers properly fitted? Maybe I missed that. Based on looks i'd lean TM, something about the hosel on the Ping that I just can't vibe with LOL but if numbers were that much better, I could probably get used to it. Great work as always boys.
GUYS… all with love MIKEY WELL DONE !! FORGET YOUR GOLF YOU LOOK SO… GOOD IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA NOW, its really a pleasure to watch!! Also mikey your swing looks good but hey it was never bad. Keep going going guys love it!!
I just struggle to find how much of a jump the Ping 10k could be versus the LST. I have hit them both, and own the LST and did not see enough in it to warrant a change. The LST is a big enough head on it's own. The 10k looked huge. It is a great club, as well as is the standard Qi10. I think that the standard Qi10 is the sweet spot there for TM.
Love this! Seems like if you are a slower swinger with a -1 to +1 swing path these would be good. If you are an I-O or O-I the 10k idea is just marketing, tough to keep the clubface square and spinney. Get fit people!!
Great review. I am thinking that the 430 Max being cheaper is the choice of the Pings. Cannot wait for the Black Ops. I am currently in the 425 max. Maybe I need to get fit into my own driver to get the max out of it. The cost to upgrade could fund a different shaft.
Great video guys! Thanks for making this as it gives me some peace of mind with this 430max 10k I just picked up. I will say that I didn't even know that Jonah Hill knew so much about golf! Awesome to have him as a guest! 😂. Jk. Love it all!
According to Ping’s website they offer a 2nd 10k model, the 430 Max 10k HL utilizing a 19 gram weight in the back with a 45 gram weight range in the shaft; intended players are those with slower swing speeds primarily. Do you think this HL version is really 10k? Just the comparison I was wanting to see, thank you guys.
Thanks - saw some reviews that said the G430Max fits in as the newer tech LST. Did you see that? The spin rates seem fairly though in your testing and I swap between a G410LST and a TSR4 to help reduce spin myself.
Great test guys and getting the New Year off to a good start. I’m going down to see Joe and Dane once they get all the new gear in and hopefully get a new driver, wedges and a putter sorted out. Loving my irons I got fit for last year and excited for the season ahead. Hopefully you got plenty more head to heads before try all the new products.
Cobra has a tour length club at 44.5" which features additional head weight. If you made the Ping G425-430 max 10k heads all being around 10k how much weight can you add to the head for swing weight without making the driver illegal? Only MOI limit I can find is 5800 with a tolerance to 6000 which refers to the horizontal axis only not combined horizontal and vertical axis which is what Ping and Taylormade are marketing.
I think that MOI as a proxy for forgiveness is more about marketing than physics. From what I understand, MOI solely refers to the resistance to the club twisting at impact. This alone may not provide the "forgiveness" needed for all golfers. There are lots of performance characteristics built into these modern drivers to help with speed, gear effect on off center hits, etc. To reduce it all down to 10k MOI is more than a gross simplification. Ian's tweaks to make the Ping more playable for him are a good example. His < 10K driver worked better for him than the full weight version. Of course there are other higher swing speed players that might benefit from the full 10K experience. I guess this fitting stuff still matters...
From your initial testing, and others, it seems like the Ping 10K is about the perfect driver for me (have not yet tested, so TBD). As forgiving, or more, than the 430 Max and lower spin. I can't wait to get a fit to see how it comes out.
I got fitted 2 weeks ago at a club champion near me and the ping was hands down the best for me. I just couldn’t get on with the TM even though I loved the look.
Could you do a comparison with older drivers? I feel like most don't switch every year or every time a new comes out. I would love to see a Sim2 Max v Qi10 Max and/or AI Smoke v Rogue ST Max.
I was fitted for my Ping G430 Max last year at Ping HQ by one of their most experienced guys. Can’t get back there this year, so not sure I can duplicate the expertise in doing a challenge to last year’s club with the new Ping 10k… Hmmm. I’ll still do a fitting somewhere and put them head to head.
Two Q. 1 Did Foresight tweak their software in terms of Smash? Seems like a lot more 1.47 vs previously 1.45 was realistic max. 2. Your strikes are overall low and you are getting 1.46-1.47 smash. Is that MOI? if so both did great at keeping ball speed high. TM smash was on average 1.46 and Ping was 1.46 To me at the end of the day high MOI is high smash from a bad strike
Honest video! My conclusion which validates my longtime overall thinking is that purchasing a driver without going through a proper fitting is a complete gamble. Unfortunately, there aren’t many qualified fitters around. And while I expect pushback on what I just stated, that’s the reality I’ve encountered over the last 15 years. I either go down to 2nd swing in Columbia to see Kevin Kraft or would have to fly up to Toronto and see Ian. Every other fitter I’ve interacted with can apply a methodology to get you to optimal numbers if you turn out to be a run of the mill Subject. If you are a special case, you are screwed. They won’t be able to figure it out. A perfect example was Ian’s 10 hdc fitting a couple day’s ago where very early on in the fitting Ian went from T150 to T100 and went to a much heavier shaft completely against what the methodology would call for. Now that’s art!! And most filters are no artists!!
So it's longer and straighter than this year's callaway lineup based off of your reviews. Wow. If yiu changed the weight and shaft in the LST would it be longer than this?
Would be interesting to see which technology is more forgiving, the AI face or the 10K MOI. They both aim for better results on off-center hits but in completely different ways. So a test comparing one of the 10K's to the Paradym AI Smoke would be very interesting.
Tested these both. I have a negative 4-5 aoa. These both spin in the perfect window for me (2700ish spin. My ball speed and efficiency and distance (slightly) was better w tm. But dispersion was a bit better with ping.
Why can't Ian hit the middle/middle high part of the club face? These were all thin on the leading edge of the face. The one PING he middled was 330 yards. See 6:28 and note the red impact mark was finally near the center = 330 yards and his longest and straightest shot. But then he went back to hitting the leading edge (17mm low of center impact)
@@clubchampionmedia is that an Ian thing or is that a function of this driver having a unique cog/high MOI/tail weight? Because that tendency of yours seems unique to these high MOI heads. Thank you.
How many golfers are looking at the 10k drivers lofted at 7.5? And with the 22g weight in the Ping. Didn’t really feel relevant to most people’s use of the product.
When you guys review the PXG driver can you also hit a few shots with an extra 5g of weight in the head, to get up to the 10k on that head (the standard version, not the tour model). I would also love to see a comparison of Black Ops hybrid vs. last years Gen6 (reg and XF), if you have those kicking around still. I really wonder if the the Black Ops hybrid launches as high as the Gen6 XF. Thanks for the review today!
Show us more of that Callaway Ai Smoke Max D please lads. Every reviewer is saying how well it works at what it’s meant to do. There’s a hell of a lot of us out here who would LOVE to eliminate the right side of the golf course and hit draws!
If you've seen a bunch of reviewers saying the same thing about the product, and it's what you want, seems like you should test it for yourself! These two do not have a right miss, and nothing they show you in a test will be helpful, apart from hearing them say what you've heard elsewhere.
What they showed me in the initial test of it was very helpful actually. And id love to see them go into more detail about the club, as they cover a lot more than any reviewer on UA-cam. Thanks for the advice tho 👍🏻
Love the content as always! One suggestion: I would really like to have a person with 100mph swing speed (with a similar skill level) testing alongside Ian. Mikey used to be great for this, but he got too fast 😯
couldn't agree more - 100 mph is where so many of us are +/- 5 so would be good to see a relatively consistent 4 - 8 ish hcp hitting these. (Only saying 4 - 8 ish because some level of consistency needed).
I personally just bought the ping max 10k club head speed usually anywhere from 101 to 106 in getting ball speeds consistently 150-155 avg easy easy to turn over sometimes almost wants to do it too much. I'm at 10.5 loft 60x shaft. 15 launch 2000 to 2200 spin. Hope this helps answer your question.
Question on the Ping would a little higher Tee get the Ball more in the Center? Just a Thought. With all these Crazy Driver Coming Out and you being a Club Fitting Shop. How about Mike take Each Driver and set each one to his Swing and get the Perfect Loft ,Perfect Launch and last Perfect Spin . Then Do a Head To Head to find the Right Best Driver? Maybe use only Two Shaft for these Driver Heads to be Number One? Thanks. Sorry Ian I miss the lefty
I like a lot these videos, the are honest and really try to be as precise as needs to be. Just wondering. I am not sure (but I don't understand it, so I can be mistaken) that single handicap should test max drivers, because they dispersion of shots are really small, their club speed is enormous and they are probably not primal customers to these. At least I did not met anyone with HCP 9< who use max driver of any company. Yes they are pros, who used them, but isn't exception of the rule? At least Mike should be the one who testing it, because it will be closer to reality, who are the drivers for.
This was the review I wanted to see, awesome video! Edit: I did a fitting for the Ping 10k and it out performed my G430 Max in control, forgiveness and slightly longer (it had more roll out overall and like 2 yards of carry more on average). I ordered one and really looking forward to getting my hands on it on the course!
I would like to see you bring in a subscriber or friend of the program. With a slower swing speed and a little less consistent strike pattern to test the Maxx versions. I feel it would be more relatable to an average golfer such as myself.
Not a great example considering the strikes were so low on the face. With the higher spin heads, you are going to need to strike the ball on the top side of the club!
With all do respect, glad you revisited these drivers but I am certain that neither driver was meant to fit Ian. I think these drivers would shine with an individual hunting for strike and slower in swing speed(90-105 mph range). I think that is a more definitive fitting, 430max vs max10k with the described individual, perfect world though. Enjoyed it.
Good review, the QI10 max is super spinny. The ping max 10k has been averaging 300-400 rpm less spin in the vast majority of reviews, which was what TM was trying to do but couldn't. Well done ping. I'm a TM sim max player and disappointed with the carbon and that's why I haven't switched to their newer stuff. I hope they go away from carbon. If i switched, TSR probably.
it seems like a counter balanced shaft is a must with the Ping. Especially with Ian’s history with Tensei Orange that would be an interesting shaft to allow you to put the 28g weight back in to keep the intended MOI. 🤷♂️
I appreciate the return to the MAX 10K with the tweaks and optimization. No need to change your opinion, but definitely presented a more complete picture.
Really impressed with the spin at 2700 on thin strikes on the Ping. That’s pretty incredible.

And while you are at it, toe side weight for Ian and heel side for Mikey!
Please do a clip using the TSR line vs. the new models that just came out. 🙏🏻
TSR line is the gold standard
Spin rates (on thin strikes) and faster club speed (with same swing speed) show that spinsistency and turbulators are not gimmicks! I'm definitely putting the 10k in the bag this season.

I play Titleist because it's easy to avoid temptation with that in the bag for me. Never thought ping would be the brand to make me consider switching
Omg, everyone of these comparison videos between these to the Ping is always coming out on top
Really happy to see you guys revisit these - especially the G430 Max 10K. I love Ping drivers, but do benefit from the flat-minus hosel setting and a lighter weight (I have a 19g in my G430 LST). I wonder what the MOI was with the 22g? Assuming it's 10k at 28g, would 22g drop it to 9800, 9700, 9600? Great video as always...
The TM not going in Ian’s bag anytime soon but the Ping looked like a good set up. The TM very spinny for a club at 7.5* with a good player attached to it. Wasn’t particularly straight either.
Thanks for revisiting the topic of the max forgiveness drivers. Definitely a better showing with the fitted drivers at more appropriate lofts.
THANK YOU for updating and you just put an exclamation point behind your statement of “That’s why it’s so important to get fit”!!!! Not the club for Ian but might be the club for someone else.

Does the leftsided adapter trick not work with ping?
@@Warp33no the Ping adapter is symmetrical. It has equal amount of adjustability on either side of the sleeve.
Doesn’t Ping still digitally loft at your request for a small cost? That’s an option if getting fit for a Ping driver.
6 degree having a 🦒
This was a great vid - seeing 10K vs 10K in a fitted head/shaft combo shows where the gains may arise. Nice one lads
What did you do to reduce the weight of the driver weight? did you replace it with another Ping option or did you have it machined? Thanks.
Great comeback guys, this was awesome!

I play the Epic Max from 4 years ago. Seems a fitting could improve my distance and most importantly, the dispersion.
So out of all the new release re- views, which one would be best for a high handicapper, slow swing speed, golfer?
Hi Ian can we do a comparison between G430 max 10k vs G400 max which is said to be the first 10k driver ever launched. Love your content

Great review. I am thinking that the 430 Max being cheaper is the choice of the Pings. Cannot wait for the Black Ops. I am currently in the 425 max. Maybe I need to get fit into my own driver to get the max out of it. The cost to upgrade could fund a different shaft.
Head to heads already! Love it!
I also wish you did my lateral strike locations to see which one is better. The strike locations were just vertical.
Can this be fitted to a 46 in autoflex shaft and get D0 SW ?
Great video guys! Thanks for making this as it gives me some peace of mind with this 430max 10k I just picked up. I will say that I didn't even know that Jonah Hill knew so much about golf! Awesome to have him as a guest! 😂. Jk. Love it all!

Question for the 430 Max10k (I assume you were using a counterbalanced shaft) - what was the swing weight with the 28g weight?
More to do with my AoA being too high. Work to do for me on this.
Changes my opinion a bit. Seemed during initial reviews that ping was a step back and didn’t seem to compare well vs QI10.
What I’d like to know is the difference between the g430 max and the 10k. The 430 was the most forgiving driver last year, is there really much left?
Would be interesting to see which technology is more forgiving, the AI face or the 10K MOI. They both aim for better results on off-center hits but in completely different ways. So a test comparing one of the 10K's to the Paradym AI Smoke would be very interesting.
Prove it, Ian. Ping Max vs 10k!!
My Angle of Attack is currently too high
Join our Monday "Request It, We Test It" livestreams and ask the guys to test!
Sounds good, I will try and tune in!
What time does it start?
Thanks for the advice tho 👍🏻
with the 22 gram wgt. in the 430 10k ping is it still conforming.
I hear the ping's face is shorter. As a lower handicap I wonder if that actually makes it less forgiving than the previous model?
Question on the Ping would a little higher Tee get the Ball more in the Center? Just a Thought. With all these Crazy Driver Coming Out and you being a Club Fitting Shop. How about Mike take Each Driver and set each one to his Swing and get the Perfect Loft ,Perfect Launch and last Perfect Spin . Then Do a Head To Head to find the Right Best Driver? Maybe use only Two Shaft for these Driver Heads to be Number One? Thanks. Sorry Ian I miss the lefty
Would love to see a “request and test” of the 10k w/ nemesys shaft
Ian - you’re not usually so low in the head. Is there something about this type of head shaft combo that you feel influenced the low strike?
just got fitted and the Ping was significantly better for me. Handled mishits much better. Strangely, the opposite was true when i went down to 3w.
GMax 10k vs Gmax- what type of player is each designed for?
I came from a ping g425 max to the qi10 max and it’s amazing! I did try the 430 max 10k and I just wasn’t the biggest fan of it. And I love ping!
Curious how my swing speed will compare when I get fitted
Hey guys I’m game Mizuno Stz 230 limited white ed driver it’s good but I just got offered the ping g430 max 10k should I do the swap???
Wasn’t the “Max” in G400 Max denoting 10k? So, is the G430 Max 10k basically the G430 10k 10k?
All too confusing for me.
According to mygolfspy MOI report the Ping G425 Max also hit 10k while the G430 Max was 5 points lower.
next year it's the 10,001k. .01k better!!!!
Guys can you test a Krank!? The one Bryson uses
Would also like to see the new Paradigm Smoke added to this challenge
This was the review I wanted to see, awesome video!
Edit: I did a fitting for the Ping 10k and it out performed my G430 Max in control, forgiveness and slightly longer (it had more roll out overall and like 2 yards of carry more on average). I ordered one and really looking forward to getting my hands on it on the course!
i’d love to see a video comparing g400 max to the 10k max
So would I as my current driver is the g400 Max.
My G425 Max vs the 430 10K was about 12 yards more of carry and way tighter dispersion with the 10K.
@@whaleshark2625 interesting. I might have to demo it. The £600 price tag kind of puts me off too.
@@jimwocha4949 the joy of selling old clubs :)
That ping looks awesome
With all do respect, glad you revisited these drivers but I am certain that neither driver was meant to fit Ian. I think these drivers would shine with an individual hunting for strike and slower in swing speed(90-105 mph range). I think that is a more definitive fitting, 430max vs max10k with the described individual, perfect world though. Enjoyed it.
…OR as Ian stated, they are just duds.
Great video fellas
Good review, the QI10 max is super spinny. The ping max 10k has been averaging 300-400 rpm less spin in the vast majority of reviews, which was what TM was trying to do but couldn't. Well done ping. I'm a TM sim max player and disappointed with the carbon and that's why I haven't switched to their newer stuff. I hope they go away from carbon. If i switched, TSR probably.
Can’t go wrong with a Ping driver. Will be interesting to see your bags for 2024
We'll be doing the driver bracket again this year in early Feb!
Why do you think Nelly and Collin are gaming the Qi max? Maybe 10k drivers are better for players not adding 13 degrees of loft ay impact?
Could you do this same test but with Ronnie or a avg swing speed hitter? Ian is a bomber…not comparable for us slower swingers
Sorry boys too busy being nice to (FAIRWAY KID) but love the banter🤣👍
I absolutely murder the Qi10 Standard Stiff Shaft I wonder what I’d be like swinging the Ping - I’m getting 290-310 on the TM all day.
I think these drivers are for two different golfers but it’s cool to see them compared.
it seems like a counter balanced shaft is a must with the Ping. Especially with Ian’s history with Tensei Orange that would be an interesting shaft to allow you to put the 28g weight back in to keep the intended MOI. 🤷♂️
Is the 430 10k max significantly better than the 430 max?? Forgiveness wise
