Great to see the main drivers up against each other with an average handicap player. Love the knowledge displayed by the fitter, that will knock a couple or more off his next few rounds. Well done.
Everyone out here equating his driver distance, to handicap. LPGA player’s average 94 mph. Hilary Lunke won the 2003 US Open at Pumpkin Ridge. Averaged about 225 off the tee for the week.
Interesting thought, I think the stock shaft in my G400 max is counter balanced, though I trust that Jay put me in the right stuff for my swing, the guys a genius with this stuff. - Darren
True. But the kalil white is about 10 grams heavier than his old ping shaft. I get trying to get spin down but would have been interesting if an even lighter shaft would help his speed. The kalil white is a bit shorter which helps.
I’m a scratch player and I love my Ping 430 10k. Put a 46” Autoflex Dream shaft on it and now I’m +20 yards and rarely miss a fairway. When I hit it a little high on the face it just goes and goes. Dead straight.
I swing it around 95-100 but it takes a few to get there. Currently playing a TM stealth2 HD on a Kai’Li Red 60S… but the ‘fitting’ was from just shy of two years ago before I started back. Swinging it better now, however. Consistency of strike is my issue. Been tinkering with the original Callaway Rogue ST MAX LS on a Tensei White 75S and having a blast with it… Have been reading a lot about the 10K and the AI Smoke Max, and can’t decide. Fitting this week for a completely new set…
Just got a 10K. Longest drives ever for 4 of the holes on my home track on my second outing. And I'm still rusty from the winter. Unreal. I have an old Ventus Black 5X in it.
Beginner here. Just picked up the 10k. Would love to get a fitting like this. My spin rate is also high. The difference the loft settings make are interesting. Mines a 10.5 though. Will have to see what happens when I loft it down - I hope it doesn’t make my slice worse since it opens it up 😂
Similar swing speed and i average 250y, but can hit it 280. I have a titlest d152 with an inch longer than standard bassara 55gram shaft . It is reg flex with a soft butt and tip section for extra kick. The head is set up for max draw at 13.5 deg and has a 2 gram heavier than standard back weight . If i were to play a low spinning low lofted head on a short stiff, low torque shaft, i would only be hitting it as far as this guy !
It’s an amazing club, going to get it? We have a titleist gt fitting coming soon with Chad (3 hdcp) so some info about the new clubs but not directly the same for you
High spin is good for mid - high handicappers we seem to be obsessed with distance at the cost of accuracy and consistency. Out in the real world this guy might have trouble hitting fairways with a low spinning driver and distance drops off on miss hits so the average might be longer in a similar but shorter on the golf course.
Thank you for having an average swing speed guy apart of your fitting. Curious though he is fitted with a stiff shaft and I have the same swing speed and I have a regular flex shaft. Cobra LTD max 9 degree average 220-240 yd drives and pretty much in play all the time. I have never been fitted for a driver. Took my trusty Ping G400 max into 2nd swing and golf galaxy and left with my driver every time except when I tried the Cobra and I gained 20 yards and jut as accurate it’s been in my bag for 2 years now 11.6 Hc. I really need to get fitted by a professional and curious how much I would improve. Thanks again for the great video.
Well stiff shafts are still suited for golfers between 90mph & 105mph swing speeds. A regular flex would likely lose Darren some control of the club face. - Nick
what, the water logged noodle i found doens't go as well as a brand new pro v haha, all serious, finding a golf ball that fits your game is super important, i learned that in this vid too
With you swing speed I'd try 52-58 gram shaft and then mess around with shaft profile (butt, middle and tip) section. With your ball/swing speed Tensei XC 60 stiff is too stiff and not allowing the shaft to release thru impact. Just try something lighter and different bend profile and you'll pickup up 10-15 yards instantly.
Thanks for watching! New tech is great and good to see it working to help mid to high handicappers but combining that with a few lessons = big growth in a players game, especially when trying to hit it in the middle of the club face everytime
I've done 3 fittings. 2 of which were the outdoor brand fittings with taylormade and titleist, the 3rd a high dollar fitting with a well established fitter. @@lincolnprojectnemesis3253 we’ve found with the Brand fittings there’s a limit in options. shaft options, head options, weight options and obviously brand options.
