The tv series Soldier, soldier (Robson and Jerome) filmed some action in the Town Hall next to the Red Lion. Anyone remember Jack the dog, who spent his days hanging out of the top window at the Red Lion?

The history boffin returns!!!! Would love to see some more stuff like this. That shootout sounds intense, wonder how they got 29 people involved in high level thievery back then. Where does wokingham rank among areas you’ve lived?

Before moving the USA in 1965, I lived in Crowthorne and used to cycle to Wokingham a lot, taking the "Nine Mile Road". I have great memories of taking my girlfriend to the cinema there. Are there any old pictures of Wokingham, Crowthorne and surrounding areas? Thank you for your work.

I was brought up in Wokingham and went to school there. I moved away from Wokingham in 1985 and I now lived in west dorset on the jurassic coast. I went back to Wokingham last year too see some old friends and I'd not been back for 20 years. I was thinking I'd be fine finding my way easy. Gosh it had changed so much I got lost, mainly between Wokingham and Bracknell. When I grew up we had lots of green fields and country side and this had all gone. It ruined the picture in my mind, of what I still regarded as my home town. It seemed like Wokingham was like another suburb of London. I was really happy to get home to my beautiful cottage with country and sea views. Wokingham will always have a place in my ❤ tho.

My son went to school in Dorset, so I visited the area a lot. It is a very beautiful county and I still wonder what it would be like to live there -- but where? Jurassic coast, eh? Sad to learn about the dramatic changes and development of the Wokingham/Bracknell area. Crowthorne, where I lived, has not changed too much. Still basically the same.

@@egverlander I'm in little village called chideock, that's between Bridport and Charmouth, but closer to Bridport. I'm really lucky I have no houses front or back of my cottage, just rolling hills and cliffs and beautiful sea views . At night you can here the waves crash on the beach. I do remmber Crowthorne really well and alot nicer than workingham is now I bet ?

@@christinecrockford1654 Sounds like you live in a lovely area. I was borne in Kent near Margate; so, I really enjoy the sea and cliffs, the sound of waves and sea gulls. Is your area warmish in the Winter time? Regards, Edward.
