    Watching this video took me back to 1987 when I worked in a diesel shop rebuilding injectors and injection pumps for truck and agriculture applications, I was completely disassembling them cleaning and calibrating them.

    So I’m glad I found this video, cyl 4 contribution balance code comes and goes on my truck, reset learning values and it does ran better but after 200 +/- miles does it again, shut off engine, turn back on and runs better, did that 4 times on Friday 😬

    It’s fun looking at one of these engines and knowing what each part or component is and how it works, knowledge gained from watching your other videos.

    FIRST!!! For the first time too!!!I've only ever long blocked TWO 6.7s in all these years of turning wrenches on Fords. The first one, I had to transfer all fuel system components, so that was the only time I ever had to re-o-ring the injectors as you've illustrated in your video above. If I recall correctly, that copper washer was much tighter than the ones on the 6.0s (of which I've done HUNDREDS from all the head gasket jobs). The second one I long blocked was a drop-in that came with high pressure fuel system and turbo. BTW, how are coping through this COVID-19. I'm the lone technician at my store for now. All the other guys have taken off for as long as need be until this boils over. God knows when that will be at the rate we're going.

    Crazy how small the 6.7 injector is compared to say a 7.3! Whoa mama! You doin' nice work there bud!

    I love your videos,and I love the 6.7 scorpion in a pickup ... when it comes to straight frame trucks F650 and larger,I wonder why Ford uses the V8 in those big trucks when a 6.7Cummins would be much easier to work on ,is built for industrial applications, and has a better power curve for a large truck application, IMO , you wouldn’t be doing an engine right now since they will easily run alot more hours than a 6.7 V8.

    Just replaced injector to valve cover seals on my 11 6.7 and now have what I think is a injector "knock". No codes runs fine just has a knocking noise. Inj were done 1 at a time so didn't switch up and replaced all components as you did 2 times just to make sure. Ever seen 1 do something like this?

  • @krisreid6647
    @krisreid6647 2 роки тому +1

    Great video. Did you have to bleed pressure off of the fuel system somehow before you removed the injectors? I have to change a valve cover gasket and it's really the only concern I have

    If possible if the black gasket is bad, start leaking fuel from it?

    Hey arod good job with the videos as always, I got a question my truck has 168,xxx miles mainly highway miles but I was wondering what would you use as a fuel additive to clean up some of the carbine of the injectors?

    • @PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod
      @PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod  4 роки тому

      Not a whole lot. Its a natural occurring byproduct of burning diesel fuel so I don't know if necessarily putting an additive in there is going to be cleaning what you see me cleaning...

      I run Stanadyne whether or not it will clean that carbon I don't know but it's supposed to work well for IDIDs. A lot of the cleaners on the market are useless in common rail systems.

      PowerStroke Tech Talk w/ARod someone told me to pour a quart of tranny fluid in the fuel tank at every oil change. Have not done that yet, has that been recommended to you or have you heard someone doing that?

    • @zeus6.717
      @zeus6.717 4 роки тому +1

      Don Martin if i’m not wrong i’m sure that helps out the HEUI injection system not common rails. that’s what i’m guessing off of common sense and knowledge that i know at the mean time.

    Hey I’ve been watching your videos! I work on the ford diesels as well and wanted to know do those 6.7L in the F-650-750 have a DLC connector for the IDS to communicate or do you have to buy a end for it off rotunda?

      That engine shouldn’t have failed , how many hours were on the engine? We put 13-18000 hrs on GM 6.0 gas engines in 10-16 years in town municipality service tons of idling and we’ve never lost an engine just retires our 2002 due to the service body rotting out and it just being time to replace it. 168,000 miles never left the town towed a 185 compressor about 1/3 of those miles and was overloaded every day , meter said 6700 hrs it was rolled once so 16700. Original engine never had valve covers off Lq4 6.0 300HP. Was considering the new 7.3 gas Ford as the first Ford we would buy that would go the distance without engine work.

    Also, if you put the injectors back in the same location they came out of,do they need to be programmed again?

    Do you know if injectors from a 15-19 would work in a 11-14, 6.7?

    Hi, what scanner do you recommend to use for a 2017 f550 with a 6.7 powerstroke? I believe two of my injectors are leaking. Should I just change the seals? Thank you

    This is an awesome channel but it scares me to watch since I have a 6.7 lol. I know this is a very small number of failures we are seeing but its worrying nonetheless.

      ...tell ur friend, he gonna get oil in a place where oil shldnt* be. Then when you go to remove the injector, it aint gonna come out cuz that oil gets burned & locks that fucker in

      3.0 European based timing belt diesel.....not sure how that’s going to go over in the US markets, timing belts are a thing of the past for the most part,the last time a Ford pickup had a timing belt I believe was a 2.3 Ranger....and if it failed it was free floating...this diesel belt fails I bet it’s a 10-14,000 repair bill for an engine
