- SpaceX Starship, a remarkable creation from the visionary private space exploration company founded by Elon Musk, is an extraordinary feat of engineering that embodies the limitless potential of human ingenuity. The Starship represents a pioneering concept in space travel, providing an advanced, fully reusable transportation system designed to propel both crew and cargo beyond the frontiers of Earth's orbit and enable unparalleled point-to-point travel on our planet.
This awe-inspiring spacecraft comprises two distinct but interdependent components: the powerful Super Heavy booster and the sleek, futuristic Starship spacecraft. The Super Heavy booster serves as the initial thrust mechanism that catapults the Starship spacecraft into orbit, while the Starship spacecraft itself is responsible for carrying both crew and cargo to their intended extraterrestrial destinations.
Fashioned out of the ultra-durable stainless steel, the Starship spacecraft is a masterful creation of technological sophistication that can carry up to 100 people and accommodate a staggering payload capacity of up to 150 metric tons. The spacecraft boasts a bevy of cutting-edge features, including robust engines and state-of-the-art avionics systems that guarantee the utmost safety and precision in the spacecraft's landings on various extraterrestrial surfaces.
SpaceX's relentless commitment to innovation and progress is evident in their extensive testing of the Starship prototype at their launch facility in South Texas. The company envisions a future where the Starship spacecraft serves as a vital tool for humanity's exploration of the Moon and Mars, as well as facilitating commercial point-to-point travel on our planet. With the Starship, SpaceX hopes to expand the horizons of space travel, making it more accessible and affordable for everyone and ushering in a new era of human achievement and exploration.

It's an animated plan that they have for the rocket.
@@silenthunter8254 It’s an animated plan made by SpaceX or a video game…

Yeah, I was thinking "That's Bob Schieffer! Wouldn't he be 110 years old?"
Transatlantic accent and all. It's a bird, it's a plane!
Exactly lol! I was thinking “damn our cameras have gotten good” with this seeming like a 70’s rocket video
That's more like a 1940s Transatlantic accent
🤣🤣🤣
My heart dropped when I thought it already happened and I missed it
Edit : 2 or 3 weeks left before the actual launch!!! Let's go!
Edit 2 : april 17 scrubbed at 40 secs, expected next attempt at april 19
Edit 3 : april 20, starship successfully launched off the pad but did a few cartwheels before stage sep and RUD'd rip.
Edit 4 : november 18, 2023 starship's second launch, successfully did stage sep, the booster shortly after gets terminated presumably due to uncontrollable spinning, the upper stage reached 143 km before getting terminated too due to reasons unknown to me. Overall it was a very exciting launch and arguably a huge success for SpaceX. watched it live, I was so confused why there were so many chinese commenters lol
Edit 5 : march 14 2024 starship's third launch IFT 3! Successfully did stage sep, and hot staging, the 1st stage booster successfully did a boost back burn and reentry, it however did not make a soft splashdown at the sea crashing at about 1000 km/h. The second stage starship successfully reached near orbital trajectory, this was intentional so that the ship would reenter the atmosphere. It then did the first raptor engine relight in space, to then lower its speed and reenter the atmosphere, the second stage entered the atmosphere and presumably desintegrated from the heat at 65 km. From what I saw there were so many heat tiles getting blown off before and it wasn't fully facing the reentry trajectory with its shielded side so it wasn't able to protect the ship. Overall, it is the most successful starship flight so far! The reentry footage of the second stage was the most beautiful stuff I've ever seen
Edit 6 : so far out of the 3 launches, I watched every single one live from launch to end. Even before that I watched grasshopper, and the first prototype second stage flights tests starting from SN5 to the latest. and every single launch a major improvement is achieved, I am so proud of what spacex is doing for the space industry and humanity as a whole, so I thought since my comment has come this far why not go all the way? So I'll dedicate this comment to add edits on the launch milestone of every starship launch

Except NASA went to the Moon in the late ‘60s, have sent probes to Venus and Mars, have a space station currently orbiting the earth, two space telescopess currently with a third on the way, and other private contractors were returning rockets to land like this in the ‘90s. If it weren’t for NASA, Van Braun and some of the Soviets engineers, (who together wrote the book on space travel), none of these companies like SpaceX and Blue Origin would exist today. Incredibly smart people work at NASA. Why would you want to insult them like that?
NASA lands rovers on Mars and remote controls them for over a decade. They drill and analyze core samples on another planet. NASA flies probes to Jupiter and Pluto. They measure changing electric fields of Jupiter's moons with satellites to determine their composition. NASA sent Voyager out of the solar system and landed a probe on an asteroid. They regularly take IR spectrographs of stars on the edge of the known universe observing characteristics that contradict our understanding of time. SpaceX made a decent cartoon here and can't reach orbiting velocity with their flagship rocket. There's not even a valid comparison between the two organizations.
Cant believe my eyes. Glad I lived 87 years from radio to TV, to the moon and now rockets that go to space and return to and defying aerodynamics in like a miracle to me.👍💙

When the day comes, it will be the single most historical thing we've seen in this generation
When what day comes? When a big pincer grabs a rocket? Last year we had the world's largest rocket launched, it actually went to the moon, it sent a human rated capsule further than any in history has travelled and it was the first to do a double skip re-entry.
We also had the first flight of a man made craft on another planet last year, not just one but over twenty of them.
The year before that we had James Webb launched, which has given us unrivalled imagery of the cosmos.
So no catching a rocket that goes no where with a pincer is not 'the most historical thing we've seen in this generation' it barely rates above the last episode of Star Trek Discovery as 'historical'.
