I personally love cool summers. Anything between 17c - 25c is perfect. I just wish it was less rainy :)

Same perfect temperatures at the moment hate the heat and dislike the cold. Hate the bloody rain. But I appreciate it for my allotment lol.

Bring on the heat 30c plus, blue cloudless skies, it only lasts a few days maybe weeks if we’re very lucky. Then it’s back to that dreary constantly raining kind of weather for another 11 months

I agree, although rain is a bit of a treat on the East Coast generally.

You should be glad you don't live in Ireland. The rainy season here is June to April.

Last year it rained almost the whole of July & August. This year it's been freezing cold, I live in the South West. Last week we had a ground frost, it was 3 degrees! Apart from the odd day here & there (2 so far) it hasn't got above 12 degrees! ( As the Met Office is based just 30 miles from here, you'd think it'd be more accurate!)

Why do some high pressure systems stay in place for weeks and allow low pressure systems to go around them, but others like forecast for the weekend are transient and will be pushed out the way again quickly by low pressure?

A great new movie from the Met Office, it will thrill you, make you angry, and frustrate you, by never knowing what’s the weather will be be like outside The year the summer never came. Watch out for it, outside

Why is the jet stream so low, you promised it would be up in Greenland bringing us warm air.🤣🤣.

Is it possible to forecast the jet stream?

As someone else said in the comments it would be quite interesting to hear about the predicted jet stream path. Maybe in the deep dives 🤔

I am sick of this weather , here in North West Ireland we've had rain the last 10 days and only about 10 sunny days since end of May, I'd settle for daytime highs of 20c to 25c and nights 10c to 12c hopefully mid July onwards will see something warmer, none the less I may have to go abroad for 10 days or so to soak up the sun

I don’t know if anyone will see this message. But is there any risk of the Hurricane that is currently hammering the Caribbean and now Texas affecting us in the near future? When it moves across the Atlantic ( if it moves across the Atlantic). I know it won’t be a hurricane here but could still be unpleasant if it reaches here. Enquiring minds need to know!

I think the 3 hour totals approach for rainfall is a really welcome addition. Adds context to the precipation rate map you normally use, especially in showery conditions.

Many thanks Alex. Not the best of forecasts, it’s absolutely chucking it down now, then there’s the next few days forecast to be the sun and no doubt the following ones are the same, but..there’s nothing anyone can do it. Am I right in that it’s all to do with climate change??
Thanks Alex and the Met. Take great care everyone 😊

How do high and low pressure areas exist next to each other? Surely the high pressure air should flow into the low and they both equalise.

Hi Alex. I'm on the edge of Dartmoor and my wife's weather station data shows were having below average temperatures this summer. As the World climate is warming, IF the UK climate is starting to warm less, or even cooler than average, do you thinks this might be the early signs of the AMOC slow down producing an anomaly between UK temps and the rest of the World ??
