We're not religious in Sweden, but we absolutely was when this story played out, but this song sang by her hits like wrecking ball every time.Great reaction. Hugs from Sweden.
@@CeadDiscoversEurope This is composed by Björn and Benny from Abba, both atheists. The sad thing is that people still have faith in their version of a God and the song explain one of many reasons. People with faith think they are nothing without a God and ignore that most progres is made by the minority that reject fait.

This is from a musical written and scored by the two male members in ABBA, Benny and Björn. Helen Sjöholm has performed at numerous venues in London and on Broadway. By the way, the musical is called Kristina from Duvemåla. Love your reaction video! 👍🇸🇪
Those two males from 2:33 are Björn and Benny from ABBA, they write alot of music. Björn and Benny from ABBA wrote the musical together. The story is about the swedish people that emigrated to America in the late 1800. And that Kristina ended up dying in her lovers arms then that at the end see eachother at the gate in Duvemåla. The musical i turning 25 years now.
This musical is about a time(1844) in Swedens history when there was a lot of poverty and starvation. Many emigrated to the US (1.4 million). With dreams of a better life. Those dreams often was fueled by lies. Many of them faced hardships that never was told to people at home. The song is the desperate Kristina's prayer to God. For the first time in her life, she doubts the Lord's existence, after she reluctantly moves to America, miscarries and then becomes ill
The question comes again and again..how can God let this happends..God gave humans the the way to live their lives without him interfearing..we call it freedom
everytime iwatch this i just look and see what is going on and why we are here on earth crying everytime when i know what our ancestors did for us swedes and how hard it was then
The reason why Kristina finally agreed to emigrate was due to the death of one of her children. After a famine, the child came across some food and ate so much that their body couldn't handle it. After living in America for many years, Kristina suffered a miscarriage (I think it was her seventh or eight child), and the doctor delivered his findings: if Kristina becomes pregnant again, she WILL die, no matter what happens to the baby. This leads to Kristina's husband deciding to sleep in a bed separate from her and the truly devout Kristina to question the existence of God for the first time in her life.
when they all leaved sweden for maybe a better future in the new world and sadly it wasnt much better. loosing soo much ...in the end it was not much better at all!! i have relatives that emigrated to the us or the new world and did not gotten a better life over therte!! many return to sweden finally home again
There was huge poverty and hunger in Sweden during the 1800s and early 1900, I don't think people can even really imagine how bad it was for many people. Many where promised a much better life in America so many decided to emmigrate, unfortunately the life for many immigrants didn't become what they imagined and was maybe even harder and more devestating. If course many succeeded too and survived as decendants of those people live in US now. But many died too or regretted their emmigration and missed their old home land.
