What makes it so vwry powerful is Helens absolute commitment to the part. She living the role, in that very moment she IS Kristina. Every emotion is so telegraphed, so written on her face, in her eyes. Her singing is obviously phenomenal but (as I am a trained musical theater artist myself) being able to deliver such an authentic performance in the physical presentation is even harder than the singing. Absolutely amazing. One of the best performance Ive ever seen.
Thanks a lot for your professional view about Helen and her performance here. Even though time has passed quite a lot since the musical was introduced, it's amazing to see that people are still talking about this. 👏
There is a great quote from legendary enka singer Hiroshi Itsuki when he performed in the US for the first time, and asked if the American people would understand Japanese songs. He said (paraphrasing) "If you sing with your true heart, that heart will reach the hearts of others."
The last song comes from a movie and the context is important too. The singer plays a battered wife who is trying to break away from her abusing husband. The lyrics comes from a place of deep hurt and when her husband sees her on the stage singing this song he is first upset and angry but is taken aback by the response of the audience. It becomes clear how hard it is for her to break free from him.
I couldn't have a chance to watch the movie so far, but it was not that difficult to make a guess how hard and sad things were happening to her life when I watched the music videos. Also through the translation from English to Korean, I found that the lyrics contained lots of meanings which were short but powerful. As far as I know, many nordic countries including Sweden have a great achievement in enhancing the right of women and I could figure out it's because they had been through these kinds of processes. Thanks a lot for the nice and educational tips 🎈
Thank you for paying attention to these beautiful songs and the fantastic singer Helene Sjöholm. Hope you get the opportunity to see both the musical ”Kristina from Duvemåla” and the film ”As in Heaven”. Wonderful masterpieces both, that reflect life, both in joy and sorrow.🎶 Regards from Birgitta, Stockholm, Sweden 🙋♀️
So appreciate your kind mention and information about what we might miss ! I came to realize that many of Swedes love these songs and Helena as much as I do. It was a fun and honor to know them, which made my eyes wide open to another cultural shocks since ABBA. Bless you and your family. 😍
Thank you so very very much for reacting to this powerful, song!!!! It brought me into tears. I think I have heard it before somewhere? But I had forgot what a masterpiece it is! I have recently found your reaction on Youtue and you guys are presenting such amazing and beautiful music for us!!!!! If I could put thousands of "Likes" on your reactions , I would do it :-) Thank you all agaín!!! Much Love!!!
Wow ~ This comment must be the most powerful and sweet one ever had I suppose.. This kind of encouraging comment would make me, my family and some of Osaka International schoolers go for what we're doing.. Thank you so much and have a wonderful weekend !! 👌😘

Every countries, even people have their bright and dark sides, which is natural. I think Swedish music or pop has it's own special colors that shine througout time and place. 😊
@@OnohaMingdong-LifeInOsaka thank you. I feel the same for your country and all the country's really. I guess I just feel people are too egotistical and small minded, and other stuff that's probably easier to talk about when you speak to each other face to face. Treat each other as you want to be treated. That's what I believe. I'm so sorry if I derailed the videos comments... I'm just happy that my comment got an answer in the first place. Thank you, and I hope that you do well in life.
I'm sorry to find this now. You have my huge thanks for the kind remarks. Many people must be afraid of greeting this coming winter for the coldness or fears of the war. I wish everyone be relived from them just for the time when listening to nice music. God bless you and your family. 😚
Do you have a Swedish "profile" at Osaka International School or are you just reacting to this out of curiousity? Ps. We used to joke one could travel to Japan/Osaka in my home municipality. There this rural place called Åsaka (pronounced the same way) you could take the buss to :)
Wow what a coincidence !! I checked and found it near Goteborg, Right? It makes me feel to make a visit there someday after pandemic. About what you mentioned above.. Some people have asked me if I work at Osaka International School or have relationships, but I'm just one of parents who have children attending to OIS. In this former semester of Jan to June, my daughter had a culture lesson in her humanity class where they learn and compare various countries. My daughter picked Sweden because she has been feeling some kind of intimacy after the trip to Sweden in 2016. Some reactions with her friends about Helen Sjoholm came from there and I suppose it was a nice try. She and many of her friends really enjoyed and came to know more about Sweden and Swedish cultures. Thanks a lot for your concern and hope you and your family have a happy life !! ☺😄
@@OnohaMingdong-LifeInOsaka Exactly, that's the one! I'm not sure it's worth visiting though, haha, but Göteborg definitely is. Many swedes are fascinated by japanese culture, so it's fun to see when it's reciprocated. It's a bit peculiar since the two countries are so far apart and historically haven't had much to do with eachother, but I guess it's just a sign of a more global world we live in :)
Thank you for the nice comment with which I totally agree. I'm Korean and have been living in Japan for almost ten yrs. My family loves to stay here and has some respects for Japanese culture as a visitor. I was told that Sweden is another Japan in Europe, which maybe comes from some observed points that they share a lot. This was the best translation into English I've seen so far. Bravo to the translator
How nice for us to react in the proper way 👏
Amazing that you can react to a song in my language and feel the same as me. Great.
It would have been better for us to understand Swedish but enough to catch up with some supports from kind Swedes. Thanks a lot ☺
