    i just went there yesterday, if timing ngam, we would have met... hahaha this is my fav place for the past 10 years.. one of the best place with lower price to enjoy durian in Balik Pulau..

      Ohhh hope we bump into each other soon... I also think they are a good place to try different varieties at a reasonable price. That's why we go every year!

      That will be almost end of the first batch of durians. The varieties you get then may be different from what I had, but should still be good.

    mahu make Mao Shan Wang, better to go to the source in Raub, Pahang. Balik Pulau native durian are Black Thorn, Red Prawn and Hor Lor durians.

      Agree... I still prefer Ang Hae, Hor Lor and Capri in Penang

      Now is the peak of the season brother... unfortunately I have been hit by flu since Wednesday. This week was supposed to go to a durian farm in Pahang but I had to cancel it. I am sure there will still be durians during your visit!!! Make a booking if possible at a farm in Balik Pulau!

      I didn't go Poh Beng yet this year. I think the prices here are quite reasonable lah for the convenience and quality.

      @@pishedbloke Yesterday, I placed an advanced order from Poh Beng for 1 Hor Lor, 1 Musang King, 1 Red Prawn, 1 Black Thorn and 1 Siao Hong. When we've arrived there, a last minute update from our relatives and we told the seller that we'd like to buy all except Red Prawn. The seller told us that once ordered, we cannot cancel our order just like that, as there are customers in the morning who were looking for the durians that we've ordered. We told them that even if you place them back into the rest of the durians, there will be customers who'd want to buy one. The seller (especially the dark skin guy) was very rude and arrogant and he proceeded to throw all the 5 durians back into the rest of the durians. So, question here is, aren't you contradicting yourself? You placed the durians back, there will be customers who will still buy, right? Stupid as stupid does!
      We've been buying from this stall for more than 20 years, and they have seen the last of us! Period!
      They are also not the cheapest anymore, especially since last year, and when we tried their Hor Lor and Red Prawn yesterday, their quality has dropped a lot!

    Hi, saw you bought some nutmeg back. May I know what do you do with the nutmeg?

      My wife makes nutmeg syrup with it. You can use a slow cooker, fill it up 50% nutmeg, 50% rock sugar and let it cook overnight. No water! Next morning you will have a dark delicious syrup, you can mix a tablespoon with a cup of water to make a refreshing nutmeg drink. :)

      Usually I would buy the bottled syrup when i visit Malaysia but most times the bottled ones were rather diluted. Thank you and a belated Happy Father's Day!!!!

      @@emilygoh7235 Yes we only use ripe nutmegs. The seeds can also be dried, then cracked to get the spice inside, for making cakes and cooking! Can try lah, it is not difficult.

      @@Jelloc oh no, raw nutmeg is very "siap siap" you can blend and make white nutmeg juice (like ambra) also. But you can't eat the flesh without pickling it in sugar.

      Try not to get MK in penang as the best ones are still from Pahang and Kelantan.
      Among the best varieties that we should try inside Penang island are
      Hor Lor
      Green Skin 15 aka Cheh Poay
      Capri
      Ang Hae aka Red Prawn
      Khun Poh - Ang Bak
      Tien Song
      D11
      Kunyit
      Lipan
      LCY
      Lim Fong Jiao
      For D200 - Orchee aka Black Thorn, the best one is produced in mainland Penang, specifically in Sg Jawi. That's the birthplace of Orchee.

      @@perwiranegara4679 Yes I agree!!! MK from Penang is not the best, better to get from Raub area or even some Perak areas. I like eating the ones more prominent in Penang, Red Prawn, Hor Lor and Green Skin.
