To me, as a Latvian, for sure my identity, history, nature and optimistic future are the main things that give me confidence and reassurance as to why I feel comfortable living there. Though there are plenty of our own problems, but looking at other parts of the world, it seems that people all around the world have similar or even different issues of their own, like riots, terrorist attacks, weakening of the democracy, pollution etc. But I think since nineties there has been a nationalistic and western awakening in our society with a boosting economy, that has really improved our living situation. The youth in a newly restored democratic country has also obviously shown to be much more liberal and patriotic. Although I must admit that our societies aren't vivid enough in politics due to past and currently increasing propaganda. Nevertheless, I believe the development has stabilised our societies and with a more stable society comes a happier life, therefore a higher index.
In addition, I might also add that to the outside world the Baltics might seem like small, non-important countries that are usually classified by our occupation past, calling us ex-ussr states and Eastern Europe, but I really don't think we should be classified as Eastern Europe after a few decades of re-independence. The human freedom, care for nature, cold weather, our own and unique languages, IT sector, modern architecture, love for metal and much more values that we nowadays share with Northern/Western countries is what makes me believe that we as modern states should and will be classified more and more as the fellow Northern countries. After all, Finland was once a Baltic country. Finland is basically a modern Baltic country and the happiest country, therefore I believe we should look towards Nordic direction and make our own rich and known Baltic society, because I believe that's who we were supposed to become if it wasn't for the Eastern power that ruined our plans. Even though it's healthy to talk about our tragic history, but we shouldn't stick to it forever but rather move on, and that's exactly what's happening with studies showing each year more and more Western and liberal views.
And to end this, I really appreciate your input of the Baltic countries in the global world!

I have one thought about it. Since full scale Russian invasion began, countries around Baltic Sea started feeling the struggle of Ukrainian people and helped them from all their hearts and when you help somebody - Karma starts doing same for you🙂 Have a nice day!

@@andrius505 Are you for real ready to die instead of seeing Ukrainian flag? By the way, those Ukrainian flags are to show Ukrainian refugees that they are not strangers here.

I think, the answer for a unity of people within the country is to have a one nation, one set of values, one culture, one religion, almost no imigrants. And definitly a state government should not give passports (a right to vote) to foreigners. Imigrants can visit, can work and pay taxes, but should not become a citizens. Foreigners should be citizens of their own countries. Baltic states were closed for imigrants for many years. So they are preserved, untouched. We were against mixing different nations, different cultures, different values, different religions and this is why we live, we work, we feel, we think and we believe as one. We are united. We understand each other. We do not have to make compromises. We do not have to be tolerant to each other, because we agree on everything. But in these days this unity is changing. Globalization will kill the unity and national identity of Lithuania. Lithuania is becoming multinational citizen type state. Where Lithuania is not for lithuanians anymore. This is why many lithuanians leave their country for a better life, for a better weather, for more income, away from Russia. If Lithuania is becoming home to foreigners, then there is no point for lithuanian to stay in the little Lithuania. Bigger, stronger countries can become a new home for lithuanians too. We are becoming global lithuanians too.
