- Coastal Foraging - Lobsters, Brown Edible Crabs, Velvet swimming crabs and countless more species of fish, crab, starfish, edible seaweeds and even rare sea slugs. The hermit crab in the video intro is the St Pirans Crab - until recently it was thought to be extinct from UK shores. A wonderful family day rock pooling on the low tide line followed by a family beach cook on a sunset shoreline.

I know this isn't what the video is about and it's hard at the moment with schools being off and everything being closed, but have you looked into any "elicit K" speech activities for James for his K's and G's? There's a lot of stuff you can do at home (I only mention it, having found they've helped family members)

I usually don't like family channels for one reason, they're always scripted and cringe. But this channel is actually a family going out and having a good time, you guys do it for fun, the other channels do it for money. This is one of the main reasons I watch this channel so often, and also because its really entertaining.

If everyone respected sea life or the world in general like you do and taught their children to do the same, like you do, we would have oceans full of plenty of seafood for everyone, you take only what you need, and weigh the cost/benefit of doing things like eating a softshell mated pair or leaving them be to make more crabs because she wouldnt render much meat, and she needs him to protect her. It should be a law throughout the world that schools must show your videos to educate the masses on how to treat and harvest ocean life. Well done friend.

I think its awesome that you and your wife are teaching your wee one how to live off the land. I grew up in the Great Dismal Swamp in Virginia USA on a farm and lerned from an early age how to wild craft and hunt. These are useful skills that unfortunately many have fallen away from.
They are invaluable skills in my opinion. Some things you simply cannot learn in school can you. 😊

Is he almost there for eating lobster or seafood? When my little girl was small, if it wasn't a fish stick with ketchup, she didn't touch it! It took a little time, but she loves it all now. I now have a strong desire to go coastal foraging! I love yall videos; they are so informative; like why is this the first time I hear about MAGIC SEAWEED !!!! So thank you for letting me know about the color-changing seaweed and for being the sole reason why "coastal foraging in Cornwall" is now on my bucket list! Now excuse me, I may or may not be googling Cornwall to determine where it is located but using my great deduction skills, I can determine from yall accents and the contents of the videos it is somewhere on the coast of England. 😎
Haha. Magic Seaweed or Rainbow Wrack as it is also known is not a common thing in the UK. There will not be many people who do know about it around here either. 😉 Our accents are a red herring. I am from the opposite end of the UK to where we live now. 😬

you must be the best picture family ive ever seen. teaching your kid how to treat animals with respect better than any school ever does especially while being on a field trip with a cook off in the end. if only half the world would be raised like this the world would be a better place. my parents were just to busy to hunt for the almighty money to teach me anything valuable about nature
