    For the casio check that chasis is connected to the pcb via silver tab .adjust your battery pos and neg terminals as sometimes they don't make good contact and break the circuit continuity slight adjustments help greatly as I've had the same problem on many dead casio watches and have come back to life.

    I managed to get a module partially working (stripping it down and cleaning each part piece by piece) a cheap beat up Casio CA-901 that I found and bought at a local fleamaket. Problem is now only pusher for the light is working and nothing else. All pushers seem to be making a good connection to circuit board so I am baffled where problem could be.

    hey tiberiu, this may sound silly to you, but try to put some small paper sheets between the batteries and the holder of the bm-100. i had this problem a week ago with a protrek. for some reason the two batteries shorted each other. after i played around a little it worked. wish you luck!

      Hi , I know what you mean, but for this model the batteries have their own space cut out in the plastic so there is plastic separating them. The module had the original insulators that go on the top, and there are certain points on the board you can measure with the batteries installed to make sure voltage gets to the module and it did. I will however continue to try some other stuff to get it to run before deeming it as junk.

    I suppose if you can get them cheap enough then you can keep them and look for a working module in a damaged case. Hopefully at a good price!

    When I buy something "to fix" from ebay then I expect 2 of those will work together and become one. Usually this type cost 50% or less of the average other ones. With more of the same it's increasing in spare parts and knowledge about those, so 3 is up in 60-75% fixable and 4 is near 90% with 1-2 parts missing and you know from the others what the missing parts are and how they look. Since #4 is ugly and a donor anyway - there is some win - win in this.

    Enjoy seeing your process and your passion. I have a Seiko 0138-5009 in vg condition. I am trying to restore it and with some cleaning and new battery the digits are very clear and working well. I can't reset the watch either because I do not know how to do a hard reset; or the fact that the center push/pull button does not work. When I inspect it the mechanism appears to move but I can't tell what the issue is and I can't take it apart since I do not know how to remove the center button. Any suggestions?
    thanks
    Arnold

    I recently bought a used ebay digital diesel watch and after a few hours outside, the watch would glitch out and turn off :/ I think it's corrosion as well but I need to open up the module and see exactly what the problem may be

    That is a problem i have very often with cheap watches, it seems that the 1.5V battery causes more damage than the lithium ones, i've never had a CR bathery that has licked. Anyway good video and i think you could have chance with the casio.

    • @VintageDigitalWatches
      @VintageDigitalWatches  6 років тому +3

      Yes, that is definitely true, the Silver Oxide ones (1.5V) do leak, but the lithium (3V usually) don't. For the Casio I will invest some more time, maybe start changing the capacitors(more common failure) and maybe other components and see where I get.

    Hey finally find a video about watch surgeon of Casio BM 100 (not successful one tho :)). I just found my dads watch but its dead. He said that he already changing the battery but still not work. Gonna try resetting the AC and other things. Is there manual book/PDF about this watch? If you happen to know can you kindly share, much appreciated 😁

      Muhammad Wildan Hi, There is a user manual that should be online at the digitalwatchlibrary, asfor a service manual it is highly unlikely you will find one.

    I've never seen that second watch before it looks good , do you know it's make and model number?. Also I picked up a non runner before from very good seller called k-part. I put new battery in and nothing. Stuck it in the drawer. Checked it after 1 week still blank. 2 weeks later I took out and it was up and running. It was a seiko watch.

    • @VintageDigitalWatches
      @VintageDigitalWatches  6 років тому

      It is a Guarda Val watch, doesn't have a reference number. The story with the Seiko is interesting, maybe your drawer has magic powers :)

      Haha😁 it's still In drawer . My dad finds my watches all over house wanting to know what I'm doing. He reminds of watches I can't even remember buying. I need to delete ebay app 😁.... nice video once again.
