My understanding of controls is that each individual control fits into one of the three categories. So something like the Collective axis would be in the Helicopters category because only helicopters have a Collective. If you map it to one of your throttle levers, that would go into a helo profile and you could choose to use that profile for any chopper you happen to be flying and that lever would control the Collective. Camera controls are general, because you’ve always got a camera no matter what you’re flying. The problem is that if you want to use different camera bindings for choppers than for fixed wings, you need two profiles, and you can’t just put the helicopter mapping in your generic helicopter profile because it’s inherently general.

Thank you for posting this video! Regarding controller assignments, it goes like this: each controller device has separate profiles for controls tagged as general, aircraft, helicopter, and specific. You can see these tags when listing controls. You cannot choose in which category you want to place a specific control, it comes preset in the sim. Also, similarly to MSFS 2020, you don´t create one profile for your 3 peripherals like in X-Plane or DCS, you create individual profiles per peripheral. So, in MSFS 2024 you need to create, at least, 2 profiles per peripheral. If you have 3 peripherals, that's 6 profiles!!! Thank God we can share them between aircraft!

The rotor start is not accurate in that the nominal main rotor speed of the H225 is around 265 rpm and the tail rotor 1640 rpm (approx. six times faster). Here they appear to be rotating at the same speed.
IRL, you don’t want to mash the trim release the whole time. It’s smoother when you let the auto trim and stability systems do their thing. Just use the trim hat on the cyclic to drive around unless you need to swerve quickly for birds or an obstacle. When you let go of the trim button, attitude retention should hold you right where you let it go, attitude wise. Example, you’re conducting a pre landing recon, roll into a 20 degree ish bank when appropriate and you can actually let go and the aircraft will hold it there until told otherwise. It’s pretty nice.
Yes true, I tend to use trim release when I am flying in a way that I am moving the cyclic around. As soon as I want to hold an attitude then it can be released, as you say, to allow the trim to hold it. In this flight there isn’t much time when I am holding an attitude/bank angle.

When you change to the profile you want to edit, esc out and save before you do any new binds or edits. then go back in and that profile you wanted should now be selected, then go into that and create your new binding, then esc out and back out to save again.
General Controls and Airplane controls are completely seperate. Meaning you general profile will be set no matter what Aircraft profile is selected. So that you can have one profile for all of your general bindings and when you switch between aircraft profiles the general settings are maintained
Hi, to answer your question at time 20:35, you were only at 25kts and downwind, you then yawed to the left putting the wind on the other side of the tail rotor, you should expect this at slow speeds. To practice, set the wind at 15kts, hover at 10ft over a given point, initiate a tail rotor turn maintaining your position over the ground, as your tail rotor swings through the tailwind you will have to reposition your pedals to compensate for the additional push from the prevailing wind. Great vid. mate. I couldn't find any mention of the Compton Abbas upgrade on their website, but I don't own the game yet, so maybe that's a factor. Good advice to hold off buying btw, for me anyway; I have a lot of 2020 content bought over the last six months, not to mention all of the great freeware (thank you fellas) and I don't really want the hard disk space juggling headache to keep both sims going until I know that the majority of my addons will work tbh, obviously I'll buy at some point, it is the future, it's just when is right for yourself I guess. Another great video dream of wings and really nice to see the Super Puma now in the sim. Just hoping that someone would make a Royal Air Force livery as I remember seeing a super puma fly really low over chisel beach at Weymouth in Dorset. I'm thinking of buying the premium deluxe at somepoint as The Super Puma did catch my eye and the Chinook is on that version aswell I think. I was gonna get premium on the launch but I got the standard as I just wanted to try out the game and I am glad I didn't get the premium deluxe judging how the launch was so unsuccessful. I do like the idea of flying the Airbus A400M Military plane really low over countryside I'm gonna have to give that a go.

Not sure if they are in by default but must be some rigs somewhere as that will be part of the mission activity. Aerosoft did a pack for 2020 that added a lot of North Sea rigs in (although the modelling of some of them was a bit basic) so that might get converted to 2024 maybe.

Flight sims are so demanding with the increase in systems and mechanics. This particular simulator is very demanding that it was bound to have niggles everywhere. Players want new things to do in flight sims, and companies introduce them. It is impossible to fully test before release. If they did, players would lose patience waiting for final release. Personally, I am enjoying what has been implemented as in game modes, lighting changes, and performance improvements over 2020 due to multithreading to name a few. I am vey optimistic for the future of this flight simulator. Take care.

Been greatly enjoying FS2024, I understand why people are angry at the launch but there's so much negativity everywhere about it, I hope the developers do not become demotivated. I think it's an upgrade over 2020 in every single way and after testing it on Gamepass I happily dropped $200 on the Aviator edition, no regrets here. To be fair my experience is likely as smooth as it is because I live near a lot of major data centers, Day 2 still had some bandwidth issues but after that I haven't had a single problem with the streaming aspect of the sim. And it is better optimized, runs much better maxed out on my hardware than FS2020 did.
@@Dreamsofwings just to be clear I meant during the walk around section. I've seen that before in certain cases when exporting my own 3d animations that were baked per frame (not with interpolated keyframes). Anyway, the look at ceiling animation also looks a bit choppy in the video. Wonder if mfs2024 has really agressive loading/unloading of assets inside cockpit, since its actually a s*load of data and geometry to display
I'm getting all sorts of problems with this heli on xbox and a few times it's just crashed to desktop. Shame really as I was looking forward to this one the most. Few times it's loaded and it's bobbing up and down for no reason.
No I must admit I tried Tobii but it wasn’t for me. I am using Grass Monkey King Puck and it works great without having to activate anything in the sim.
Apologies for the poor advice on buying the Premium Deluxe edition. Alas my crystal ball hid from me the vision of Jorg turning round and saying, "We'll sell the Premium and Premium Deluxe aircraft separately this time round." I'm still wondering how HPG will feel if Microsoft sells the H225 for an amount that greatly undercuts their (deservedly) pricey H145 & H160.
I’m not sure if you can. You can jump straight into the cockpit but if you are in an aircraft that has things like intake covers, pitot heat head covers, then these will still be in place unless you get out again and remove. It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if they add a ‘bypass walkaround’ feature in the future.
And this is where it gets confusing, you have General, Aircraft Type and Specific aircraft but doesn’t seem to be anywhere to direct the binding you have just set up
@@Dreamsofwings Sadly, we all got screwed on this deal. I was really hoping that 24 would be the evolutionary base that would provide the platform for the next 4-5 years of simming. Instead we got a new game with a lot less simming. At the very best we are looking at the next 6 months (hopefully) but more likely the next 12 months (realistically) before we will even see the same study level aircraft we have with 2020. So we paid $100-$200, and lost our best assets (Fenix, PMDG. Black Square, etc…)only to pickup a bunch of half ass planes running in an environment with slightly better graphics that is built upon the extremely shaky foundation of streaming this type of content with a UI (especially in the area of control mapping) that is another step back from what we had in 2020. Yes, they will eventually make it right over the next year, but I could have done without the frustration. They should of held the product and delivered us a sim with more study level aircraft, that allowed us to keep our existing study level aircraft which was thoroughly vetted in terms of determining if streaming was a viable solution. At the very least, the product should have come released in a state where we did not lose are existing aircraft that we spent the last four years building. ASOBO bent us over and their partners, Fenix, PMDG, Black Square, etc…, by excluding them from the build process. To call this launch a dumpster fire is being far too kind! As for the career mode and the missions, they are cute toys but definitely not worth $200 to me. In fact, this could have come as an extension to 2020 but I doubt the dev costs to build this would have been covered by the sales. I know I would not have paid for it. What I would have been happy to pay for is a new platform that allowed me to keep my investment in Fenix, PMDG, Black Square, etc… and included a new and more detailed graphical environment.
Thanks for the video on the H225! It's quite shocking how abysmal the sounds are in this thing. There's zero aerodynamic sounds when moving the airframe or the the rotor blades and rotor head, it's all just static and has nothing to do with a helicopter.
Thanks for doing content on this i got the £130 prem deluxe spent 8 hours game time on a loading screen and waited 28 hours after release to even reach the main menu got my refund off steam the smorning out of principle. Its needing atleast 3 to 6 months longer in the oven and 100% needs the option of offline mode like 2020 even with 1 gig internet the servers were still not loading the scenery in fast enough. I did not even get to the stage of trying to setup all my gear the control setup is even worse than 2020 i did not think that was even possible who designs the ui clearly does not have alot of sim gear to setup 😂 they should maybe hire xplanes dev to show them the proper way to do it i can be up and running in xplane all controls working in probably 10 minutes it takes 1 hour plus on 2020 its really poorly thought out. Really poor release all the good they done in 2020 has been overshadowed by this alpha release very poor state i will pick it up in 6 months to a year and hopefully its where it needs to be in the meantime its back to 2020 and xp12 im not paying £130 to beta test for them.

@@FlyUSMC yes that is correct, but the issue seems to be how to select which one you are storing it under.

@@Dreamsofwings Whomever came up with this idea needs to lay off the whacky tobacky.
