I saw Iggy & The Stooges live at NXNE in 2010 and when this riff started, the entire crowd shifted unlike anything I can compare it to, I went from being in the back not able to see a thing to being right in front looking directly at James Williamson playing this riff. A powerful song from a classic album.
The lessons and taste in music are all excellent, as usual, but can we get a shoutout for how good his tones always are? He does such a good job getting the sound right.
Your channel has helped and inspired me for at least 8 years now. My favourite Stooges songs and albums and I've been dying for a proper demo for years and you finally do it. No idea how grateful I am.
Wonderful lesson as always. Friday is fun day! And yes, please work your way through the entire Raw Power album. It's such a timeless classic. Humble suggestion for the next related episode would be "Your pretty face is going..." Fantastic rhythm and solo guitar played with attitude and aggression. Oh, and while we're at it, please throw in some "I need somebody"! Thank you for being the best guitar tutor on the web!
I always find it incredible that Janes Williamson, one of rocks greatest all time innovators and stylists, quit music and became the 'chairman of the board' at Sony and nobody knew, with most thinking he was a burned out junky like Johnny Thunders or something! His story is a bit like Jon King from Gang of Four! Great lesson, cheers!
I think Williamson was using a Superfuzz pedal for the album, which would go some way towards explaining his absolutely electric tone. Anyway, the Beano booster into the Marshall sounded very close, and also sounded awesome in its own right, so well done!
Excellent 👌 Definitely one of my favourite albums. I have two original LP's , one of them is an unplayed spare ! Also have the Iggy mix on CD and the Iguana Chronicles "Rough Power" CD 👍
Venus De Milo or See no Evil by Television would be good choices if you decide to analyze one. I like the tone you're putting out here better than the record! It's got a pleasing SNAP to the intro. I do prefer the sound without the boost pedal maybe just me.
@@Mark_Williams300 yes, was listening to Adventure this week - such a great and, as you say, underrated record. And lots of interesting Tom solo stuff to choose from too. Might have to make more than one video at this rate...
Great breakdown! I bought Raw Power on vinyl back in 1979 and it quickly found a spot in the front of my album stack. Did you know Lollar makes a Raw Power humbucker?
Great stuff ..Williamson plays like Dave Davies on Steroids on a lot of Raw Power, but with some really clever little bits chucked in ...Could you do some stuff of off Kill City . Maybe Lucky Monkeys or No Sense of Crime... Really good guitar work
I've got to sit down and spend some time on this one. The album name is certainly apt, and I agree with your assessment that it's not easy to put your finger on why it's so good. That said, great lesson.
I love your lessons Adrian - from surf guitar to country to alternative and new wave stuff. But this was so far up my alley it ought to have been wearing plastic gloves! The only guitar lesson on You Tube you could call properly raucous!! Yeah!
Love it. Please Adrian can you have a go at breaking down some fingerstyle as you suggested in your New Year video? I suggest Never Going Back Again and Scarborough Fair :)
James Williamson's sister was assistant principal at my high school. She didn't like answering questions about stooges. She said Iggy and Bowie were disgusting people. Exactly as we'd hoped
Would you consider covering planet funks chasing the sun on one of your videos. I have had a look round and it's one that's not been covered. Always great videos, thank you again .
I just want to say that your song choice for lessons is immaculate, like wow
Thanks! I try not to overthink it, most of these lessons are just things I love, straight out of my record collection.
James williamsons playing on this album is outstanding. Such energy.
Hugely underrated
I can’t think of any guitar player before 1973 that attacked riffs and solos like he did. Punk owes him a lot

Can't go wrong with anything off that album!
Jesus christ that is the perfect tone for this song, it is exact to the record

Is Adrian not the coolest guitar teacher ever invented?
Bro you teach the best songs and your lessons are all to the point and yet very easy to understand. Love your channel
Great thanks. Best album of all time ... please keep going
I love your channel. Such a great selection of songs from a bunch of my favorite artists! Great teaching style too. Thank you so much.
Raw Power is FIFTY years old. Marinate on that.
Raw power is timeless. And spaceless. It created the universe.
Television will forever be on my top 3 bands.

Which part of King's later career had the big change that Williamson's had?
@@pc2nite none! Although the reformed Go4 apparently did some good live shows.
@@pc2nite hang on, wasn't Jon Kind some exec at some major record label, and williamson VP of Sony USA enginnering?
One of my favourite riffs too Adrian. Thanks for posting, I'm definitely tackling this over the weekend!
Yes! A lovely morning fix, mainlined. Thank you, Adrien!

thanks Adrian, great stuff. Thanks for mentioning TV too, my guitar hero.
That's intro was top notch man!
Well in Adrian; great tune as well!
I never really wanted a les paul until now. argh dang great video Adrian.
"It sounds completely horrible but in just the right kind of way." 🤣
Thanks as ever, the energy from this song is contagious or maybe I am just reminiscing.
Loved Tom Verlaine. Got the vinyl(red) album Adventure for my 18th birthday. Happy days….
You're AWESOME Adrian!
Impeccable taste

Already did a Venus lesson quite a while ago, but See No Evil would be definitely be a fun one to look at.
@@acpg Don't Forget Tom's solo output, Adrian. And Adventure is underrated.
@@Mark_Williams300 Indeed, and a vote for Glory off that album.

The guitar solo on "Elevation" is fantastic and I'd surely appreciate a lesson. Although i believe it is played by Richard, not Tom?

Please could you do a lesson for foxhole by television
Great stuff. Please do some Wildhearts!

Great selection! 👍 Powerful stuff!
Superb
Adrian, thanks so much for these lessons! Simply awesome! Can you maybe do one on "I Need Somebody"? One of my favorite tracks of all time :)
I love your lessons Adrian - from surf guitar to country to alternative and new wave stuff. But this was so far up my alley it ought to have been wearing plastic gloves! The only guitar lesson on You Tube you could call properly raucous!! Yeah!
If you happen to do more Stooges in the future, please consider doing “I Need Somebody.”
No one on youtube seems to know how to play it on point!
Love it. Please Adrian can you have a go at breaking down some fingerstyle as you suggested in your New Year video? I suggest Never Going Back Again and Scarborough Fair :)
Hi
A bit of a random question really but can you tell me the make of your guitar rack in the background please
Cheers
AC 30 amp issue - could be the effects loop if it has one. Put some contact cleaner in and then use a normal cable end- put in and out several times.
Awesome. Love it
Gedin one of my favourites

So sad like you Tom V. passed away 😢. … Thanks for the tribute bro
can you do Television's Days?
Thank you
Dear Adrian,
Would you please do "Tonight" by the MC5?
Best regards.
My 90s AC-30 is doing the same thing! Did you fix it yet?
@Adrian, Can you do Destroy All Monsters - November 22nd 1963? thanks!
On the rough mixes
The raw power track is a little bit Differenz than 2 4 here its on the "and" the downstrokes
Hit ‘like’ before even seeing the video! 😀😀😀
Hey, could you do death trip next?
You're the best

Can you do some Campag Velocet please?
Interesting request! Maybe - I'll need to revisit their music, not that familiar with them but like what I've heard.
Camper Van Beethoven?
😍🤟
Are you God? 🙌💥
I want some uriah heep
His neighbours hate him. Find out his amazing tone secrets!
