4:23 "I never understood what this thing is supposed to represent" It's the attack carrier (Corneria boss, routes 1 & 2). Falco mentions during the mission that he's going to destroy it, which he does, so those Cornerian robots are carrying the pieces away. That piece is its core section.
damn you're right, I never knew what that thing is :D Makes sense now! It's facing towards the bottom and you see it from the side. Thanks for telling :)
i think on corneria level, when falco says "Attack Carrier will be mine" was just a few seconds later the robots were rescuing the pieces of the attack carrier that falco did blow to pieces.
Yes! Yes!! Goddammit yes!! Finally I see Course 3 in full! Its been 20 years and as an adult I can finally see this again. I need this game and a Super. Definitely something I'm getting asap after seeing this
Super awesome. Just found my cartridge after a long hiatus. Time to beat route 3 again! I remember having Nintendo power in the 90s. The Star Fix comic just made this game that much better.
the thing being carried is the carrier ship from the corneria boss battles on routes 1 & 2, but it looks like it's missing the wings and panels; which is what the robots are carrying across the screen right beforehand at 04:05. since it's evening time on corneria when you pick route 3, perhaps the carrier boss was already destroyed by corneria forces earlier that day, and the pieces are being carried off for reassembly. EDIT- as somebody mentioned below, falco makes a comment about the attack carrier and i guess he's the one that blows it up! LOL mystery solved.
Or maybe they're actually attacking the evening before, as in a surprise strike against the enemy, and so the robots are carrying the attack.... carrier... To assemble it.
The Great Commander (all 3 forms) is literally my favorite boss in this game. You know that when his theme plays, some serious shit's about to go down.
Yeah for me too, the only form I don't like is that one in space, just such an annoying battle and the hitboxes are so weird... but the rest is awesome :D
Damn! you killed "Great Commander" in the first form without bombs, at first i though that was nearly impossible because of that hard hitboxs :O great work!
I know I used to think the exact same thing but that boss is just a test of your patience, it does take a long time because of those damn hitboxes, they also annoy the hell out of me!
This was incredible to watch, well done good sir, this playthrough managed to help me complete route 3 myself ^^ (with power ups and bombs mind, not as hardcore as you) cheers bro
Nice playtrough, also enjoyed the commentary and your single-blaster-only mode :) Sometimes the music sounds a little incomplete. Do you play at 50 or 60Hz?
@darkfury45 I also always loved this game, even though when I play it today it seems a bit slow / laggy but still very fun :) I hope the length of the video didn't "scare" you!
haha ich hatte da früher auch immer totale Schwierigkeiten mit Route 3, sogar der 2. Boss war für mich früher schwer :D heute ist das kein Problem mehr :P
Yep, I've only beaten route 3 once, but when I did all of my teammates died. It was funny and sad at the end when Fox called out for all ships to check in and there was just silence.
i just had a glitch on the snes classic system on 1st stage boss of this route 3 right now its running on its own as its in a loop im at the end of the boss and it wont let me kill it it has 1 last gun left and it just keeps shooting the missles at me which dont hit u when u are high up and none of my shots fired effect the thing when it turns around for me too lol i just want to unlock starfox 2 and this happens on 1st day
Falco: *being chased by an enemy* Bogey on my six! Fox: *shoots down the enemy* Falco: Mind your own business, Fox!! Fox: -_- you're welcome Geez Falco is such a dick in this game XD Serves him right that you didn't save him when he was getting attacked the next time, lol. Edit: I never got to see a teammate die before (even back in my childhood playing this or watching my brothers play it) so it was interesting for me to see that when a teammate dies, they stay dead until you either quit/reset or beat the game :P Makes me wonder what the game would be like if you let everyone die, haha. (if I didn't suck so bad at this game I'd try it myself.) It was weird enough seeing only 3 Arwings flying in space at the end, nuts to imagine being solo xP
+bluebird1494 wait, did one of my teammates die during this video or what? :D I can't even remember that, but I remember that everytime it happened, it felt like something really tragic, like I felt really bad for them afterwards :D
How annoying was slippy for you? almost every map "Ribbit Help me!" and for Peppy "Get Lost you fiend!" when i played this game i found those two frustrating but all in all despite not getting beyond stage 2 i enjoyed this game,it was almost like afterburner, the play style was similar; on the rails dodging and weaving from enemy attacks, try an experiment, play starfox with the afterburner theme on in the background also note that the corneria theme and the afterburner main theme have similar chords
In this game I didn't even find him that annoying yet, it all started in the next games :P unfortunately I've never played afterburner, which system is this game on?
Now i am showing my age, Afterburner came out on a couple of REALLY OLD consoles and was in the arcades, my version of afterburner was on the commadore64 and despite it being really hard i loved it, in the youtube search engine type in "Afterburner Commadore64" also search for Afterburner theme i loved that game and i also loved starfox (Starwing in the uk) despite not getting past asteroid belt
MeinSchizofriend The best part of Starwing was the permadeath. Sometimes when I was very young I would deliberately not save Falco, Peppy or Slippy. Attack Venom as a one Fox army! ;D Let me ask you, do you prefer Starwing/Starfox over Lylat Wars/Starfox64? I've always found this game to be much more darker, and it freaked me out when I was young! Especially how James McCloud "vanished" inside the black hole. D:
That is an interesting thought but did you know that there is a hidden map on starwing? guess what it is, A black hole, a hint at either Fox McCloud's future or a dark reminder of his past? Either way both games have their advantages and disadvantages, but the thing is i only played Starwing and i did play lylat wars/starfox64 but i don't remember much about it apart from the annoying requests of help me fox help me! Speaking of the game what i remember the most about starfox sorry, Starwing is the corneria intro and the corneria theme, and slightly off topic co you remember a game called Afterburner II? i ask you this because i found something interesting about these games, if you listen to the corneria theme and the main afterburner theme they sound similar sort of similar chords with a bit of variation between them, have a listen to them and see what i mean
it really stresses me out when you miss the laser upgrade
ArbitraryConstant same lol
The colours, designs and music of this game are so damn cool
This game was very revolutionary for its time. Thanks for the nostalgia.

God damn! I never realised this. Cheers bro! But...... Where the hell did the tank come from. It was never fitting on that attack carrier!!!
85flintstone Maybe the Venomian army carried it to Corneria in pieces and assembled it on the planet. It falls apart when you destroy it.
i think on corneria level, when falco says "Attack Carrier will be mine" was just a few seconds later the robots were rescuing the pieces of the attack carrier that falco did blow to pieces.
yeah I never could piece that together lol thanks for telling
Yes! Yes!! Goddammit yes!! Finally I see Course 3 in full! Its been 20 years and as an adult I can finally see this again. I need this game and a Super. Definitely something I'm getting asap after seeing this
+Apoc Alypse yeah I highly recommend playing it on the real SNES, because the emulator versions are a little different :)
The last time I plated the game I was like 10 and it was the original :)
Now the SNES Classic is out. I have one and have enjoyed playing Star Fox again. I even beat route 3 for the first time on it earlier this year!
Finally...after more than twenty years...I beat SNES Starfox's Hard Route!!!
Can't let you do that, Starfox!
Super awesome. Just found my cartridge after a long hiatus. Time to beat route 3 again! I remember having Nintendo power in the 90s. The Star Fix comic just made this game that much better.
@Julio Cune thanks :D I've played through this game hundreds of times and still love it
the thing being carried is the carrier ship from the corneria boss battles on routes 1 & 2, but it looks like it's missing the wings and panels; which is what the robots are carrying across the screen right beforehand at 04:05.

Nice video, beautiful feeling when you remind of this games
Seeing Fortuna in polygon form is really strange, especially after seeing it in Starfox Assault.
So many memories of this great game
YES I love that you use inverted Y-axis controls. don't see a lot of those people this day and age
I wish they remastered the Great Commander to be in Starfox 64 it's perfect for the hard route I just love how it makes its entrance
33:00 you dodged the energy balls by boosting at the right moment, advancing safely within their orbit to hug the enemy's energy core.
Damn! you killed "Great Commander" in the first form without bombs, at first i though that was nearly impossible because of that hard hitboxs :O great work!
I know I used to think the exact same thing but that boss is just a test of your patience, it does take a long time because of those damn hitboxes, they also annoy the hell out of me!
no problem, thanks!
Oh Nintendo. You were the best in the early 90s. The SNES still is the best console ever.
nice gameplay, I used to spend a lot of hours to this game, one of my favorites! of snes
thank you! It's the same for me, back then I sucked way more so I had to try over and over.
all those childhood memories, thanks, nice work!
best graphics of its time imo (better than a lot of this time)
I always thought it was so cool how Falco kills the attack carrier on the first level of path three.
This was incredible to watch, well done good sir, this playthrough managed to help me complete route 3 myself ^^ (with power ups and bombs mind, not as hardcore as you) cheers bro
Puhahaaha your deaths against iron balls make me...p uaaaaahahaaha!
looooool and you died again at 47:00 for iron balls! Very funny.
Masterpiece!!
No problem, hope the many deaths in the later stages weren't too painful to watch :P
i cant believe slippy is fucking dead
Nice playtrough, also enjoyed the commentary and your single-blaster-only mode :)

@darkfury45 I also always loved this game, even though when I play it today it seems a bit slow / laggy but still very fun :)
I hope the length of the video didn't "scare" you!
You really know how to fly an arwing lol
polygon graphics are s0 beautiful.. i am developing my first game (called sub scape) with star fox style polygon graphics
MIND SINK GAMES what is it about? :D sounds nice
really? :D
Lol I didn't know teammates actually die in this.
Yep, I've only beaten route 3 once, but when I did all of my teammates died. It was funny and sad at the end when Fox called out for all ships to check in and there was just silence.
the whole game used to scare me 10 years ago lol i was 7 and well im still scared to play i t cause it seemsed so hard when i was young lol
why did you avoid all the power ups???
Were you purposefully avoiding the blaster power-ups?
yes because otherwise it wouldn't be a challenge :P
MeinSchizofriend As if that route wasn’t hard enough anyway! ;)
Texy88 I always play games in a harder way than normal :D
Hope you get to see this comment, did you play this on a real SNES/SFC or emulator? Because Star Fox is runnin' mighty smooth and I like it.
+albatross990 I played it on ZSNES and I payed attention that I play the right version for this, there are others that are too fast
i just had a glitch on the snes classic system on 1st stage boss of this route 3 right now its running on its own as its in a loop im at the end of the boss and it wont let me kill it it has 1 last gun left and it just keeps shooting the missles at me which dont hit u when u are high up and none of my shots fired effect the thing when it turns around for me too lol i just want to unlock starfox 2 and this happens on 1st day
unlock starfox 2? how do you mean that? and yeah I've heard about that glitch ones unfortunately you can't do anything against that
on the new snes classic system u have to beat level 1 on starfox to play the 2nd game
On mine I just played Starfox, didn't even beat any levels, exited out and it unlocked starfox2.
holy hell!! ur so good
What is that Monster at the end of the game??? a Demon of the Universe from TEMPEST Arcade!!!!??? lol that would be cool lol
Falco: *being chased by an enemy* Bogey on my six!
Fox: *shoots down the enemy*
Falco: Mind your own business, Fox!!
Fox: -_- you're welcome
Geez Falco is such a dick in this game XD Serves him right that you didn't save him when he was getting attacked the next time, lol.

+bluebird1494 hah that annoyed me every time I played through
+bluebird1494 wait, did one of my teammates die during this video or what? :D I can't even remember that, but I remember that everytime it happened, it felt like something really tragic, like I felt really bad for them afterwards :D
OneDoomedAngelo Yep, it was towards the end when you were on Venom. (right at 48:39 )
route 3 is pretty tough
i never beat it.
enemy kamikaze into you
I could never ever get past stage one or two O_O
I swear my SNES classic has substantially more slowdowns than this one... How did you record it? Emulator?
yes on ZSNES emulator, with Hypercam2. There are different versions, some are slower some are faster
OneDoomedAngelo - Cool. Thanks for the response, and nice work!!
