he may have had a downfall on a competitive level, but it seems like Costa's the happiest and content he's ever been now. Running his own gym, being a businessman, training fighters, at peace with himself.
Paulo understands and accepts humility in a game where minor setbacks can cost guys their sanity and peace of mind.

I actually think he is doing better and is happier than ever. Also i am a bigger fan of his and always read his Tweets than any other UFC fighter. It's weird. But props to him. Happy for him.

I love how his personality is coming out now. I think he's hilarious and I'll always tune in to his fights because he's extremely talented and exciting to watch. Just because one doesn't get the belt, does not mean that one won't reach a level of greatness.

Delusional? If anything Paulo has more fans than ever right now and that’s mostly due to his social media game. He shows up in every fight, (minus adesanya) and is always entertaining and hilarious, with minimal English I might add. If anything it speaks to his star power to see him take huge missteps in the eyes of the fans, yet redeem himself so quickly. I don’t care if Paulo even comes close to a title again, I’m tuning in every time.
He was delusional about missing weight for the Vettori fight.

He shows up every fight? He was offered Whittaker and didn't want to take that fight. Blachowicz and other fighters were offered and calling him out. The guy has skills, but wasting his prime. He fought 5 times in last 5 years.
@@EugeakaEugene I think you misunderstood what I meant. He “shows up” meaning he turns in good performances. I do agree about the lack of activity, he definitely should have cashed in and fought multiple times a year, definitely wasted some potential.
The only point I’m making is that the dude has a massive fan base, regardless of any fuckups, lack of activity, or not taking specific matchups. The guy has some real star power, even if he somewhat squandered it.

Khabib and Islam are only 1x sambo champs. Aliskerov is 4x.

Can you do a direct comparison between ONE FC and UFC cards this weekend? One was a Pride esq awesome show with almost all finishes and spectacular fighting ability. The other was mostly frustrating decisions and robberies and low level fighting skills.

I always see this but I think it's unfair to compare cards, seeing as One has had crappy cards and the ufc has had bangers. It's just the nature of the sport. Not every card is going to be good and that's for both promotions.

I put a lot of it down to a lack of good English, and if you watch the full interview I think he was kind if scared Marvin wasn’t going to fight him and was kind of trying to egg him on to take a catch weight fight by calling him a puss 🐈 weird tactic but that’s the sense I got
I don’t mind Izzy’s ridiculous showboating after defeating Costa. 1) Remember Costa talked a ton of shit, including a comedy skit about Adesanya, 2) I’m glad the UFC isn’t an overly sensitive place like everywhere else- Izzy would be fired or cancelled if he did that in any other sport.

He realized that competing in the UFC isn't as good for the fighter as it is made out to be. Obviously mental and physical damage is a part of fighting but the UFC pays nothing for it. So, he stopped worrying about the 'legacy' too much, took control of the steering wheel of his life, and created an alternate income source for himself.

Honestly comparing fighter pay between professional fighters and influencers/celebs that do fighting is like comparing apples and oranges. Also I think influencer/celeb fighting helps grow martial arts. Their fans that watch the fights are almost definitely not boxing fans however they might look up a bit of boxing if their favorite influencer/celeb is doing it and get hooked.
Totally, I was always an MMA fan but influencer fights got me interested in boxing
