Except Theo Ratliff was playing just as well before he got hurt then Mutumbo got brutally assassinated in the finals 😂. Also, Iverson's only appearance in the finals wouldn't have happened if not for David Stern and the refs manipulating the series against the Bucks in the most egregious way possible. That and Vince missing that damn shot.
AI really fucked up that whole Philly team by being lazy in practice. Sure it made for a very funny "We talking 'bout practice" meme but guaranteed if AI showed up to every practice on time like every other NBA player then they would have had more success, could have even had a ring.
@@ballinboxer3676 agreed.. There are many very good and even great individual players who didn't take a necessery effort in practice. Look at Carter he is in my oppinion a guy who is happy with what he can achive whit normal effort in p. He never significaly improved his game yeah he did adjust with age but Imagine his longevety and ahletic abilities with half of mamba mentality.. You could name a few others.
I couldnt agree more. Iverson would have never got there without Mt Motumbo. He was defensive player of the year that season. I was really hoping they got a ring that year. But hey, they ran into Shaq =( I was the happiest man on the planet when my Bad Boys kicked LA ass in 04 LoL
Fair enough but as someone who was like 4 when that happened and have only watched highlights from that period, I will say it must have been a treat to watch Shaq in his prime, from what I’ve seen he was damn near unstoppable and seemed like a god on the court. Fair enough to want to see the Lakers lose tho 😂
I have to agree the sixers wouldve been on the same track either way, but regardless i love mutombo the size length and love of defence just made him great and we cant forget the finger wag
LamarMatic what are you talking about?, Jordan would never choke, he would let you win. He was being nice to the young Nuggets and granted them a W. What a nice dude he was...LOL But seriously, what a monster Mutombo was down low, and its a shame that injuries prevented that Nuggets team from reaching their full potential.
i've never seen so many travels in a single highlight reel, not even nowadays, wow. I lpove basketball history but goddamn Mutombo travels like every other possesion here.
Being a guard doesn't mean you don't try to block shots. Why we see all the other guards blocking shots or challenging shots while jordan not? He's the ONLY guard he was not blocking shots. I've never seen him one fuckin time blocking a fuckin shots straight ahead or challenging a dunk. When the other player took off, Jordan was running away like a refugee. Only once he challenged it (cause they needed the win so desparately) and he became the eternal poster. -CONTINUED-
You know a lot of history don't you? You ever discuss basketball on social networks like Facebook or twitter? I bet a lot of people would love to debate with smart guys like you!
mutombo was a good player, kind of like a poor man's olajuwon minus the offensive arsenal.. not just comparing these guys because they're african btw, they really were quite similar on the defensive end except olajuwon would come up with steals and is the all time career blocked shot leader.
@LamarMatic Jordan never challenged dunks because he avoided posterisation. Totally white-collar cocky unmanly attitude. All the blocks of his career he made by coming from behind players as a double-team help.
@LamarMatic Jordan chokes? your Funny..... 6 Rings 5 Time MVP 6 Times Finals MVP... and u gonna say Jordan Chokes.... Whats your Team BTW?... this CLowns Denver...
His full name is Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo. Damn parents!
He was such a monster in his prime.
he was also a monster
@@rimbo420 He wasn't a Monster, he was a MON"STAR"
His prime was his first year. His scoring went down ever since
Mutombo would've ate up a 🐦 🐦⬛ sandwich ❤️
Underrated, if you ask me Iversons only appearance in an NBA final wouldn't of happened if Mutombo hadn't been on the sixers.

Jordan against old rainbow-uni Denver- this just screams old school NBA!
Can't get enough of those Bulls-Nuggets showdowns in that era.
He was the best center the nuggets has ever had.
glennard coleman mutombo Or Issel
Naw jokic
@@JeremyCrescendo Joker is a great player now but his career resume doesn't compare to Muto yet
@@JeremyCrescendo LMAO you really think Jokic now is even close to Mutumbo? LOL

Iverson and mutombo were the perfec fit together.. AI shooting the ball and dikembe geting rebounds.. Should ben together more seasions..

I like how the first goal he scores is on a traveling no call, good start
R.I.P
This game just shows that every great player may face a very bad day and a humble, simple person may have his best day!

Mj missing key free throws and missing it twice and it looked like mutombo shot better ft than Jordan and Jordan is a guard, just wow
Rip 🙏🏾☝🏾

Dikembe speaks Portuguese?!? Dude might just be my favourite centre ever now!!!
Maybe the most underrated centre in the history of the game. Went to a finals and historic 8th seed playoff run.
3:48 Jordan didnt want any of that
Yep he didn’t want to be rejected

jordan's shot was extra flat that night
Mutambo mentality
-CONTINUED- I'm talking about THE DUNK by shorty Starks. Jordan always blocked from behind.
By the way, Mutombo is a beast, but did he just do a skyhook shot
Lol Bill Cartwrights shot makes me laugh Everytime then seeing mutumbo block that goofy shit

Yea on offense he never was Pat Ewing or Zo. Yet you can still those Georgetown skills down low.

The refs didn't call travel on mutumbo he walked everytime he had the ball I could score a 100 if the ref let me walk the way they allowed motumbo
