That's why I say people are idiots when they assume Jordan's Bulls would've beaten Hakeem's Rockets. The Bulls had NO ONE to guard Hakeem, but the Rockets had Vernon Maxwell, who MJ himself admitted was a pain in the ass to play against. The '97 Rockets team was a different story; they should've never traded away Horry for a Barkley that was past his prime.

As a Spurs fan - The Dream broke my ❤️. I couldn't breath. Chest pain a level 10. Well deserved rings. I went into deep depression. Duncan saved me from jumping off a bridge a few years later. Thanks a lot Mr. Robinson!
Robinson was averaging about 25 points a game, and over 11 rebounds a game despite being doubled and tripled teamed all series long. Its not his fault he was by himself where as Hakeem had an nba legend in Drexler, a playoff legend in Horry who hit game winners this series against spurs. Great players in Kenny the Jet, Sam Cassel and vernon maxwell.
Olajuwon was such a rare player. He was excellent defending the low block 1on1 against another dominant, HoF caliber center, and at the same time was also an incredible force as a help defender. He was not only the best shot blocker of his time, but also great at forcing turnovers with his quickness, length and vision/anticipation - a skillset rarely found in bigs.
You know you're in a zone when you got a great defensive player like Rodman sitting down at the end of the bench pulling off his shoes not wanting no more lol
I remember one break away Olajuwan was all alone for a spectacular dunk and he just delicately placed it in the basket one handed. Very humble, much class.
I won't be saying this often about a player, but he was damn incredible. Rebounding, on the ball defense, shot blocking at the rim on the help, the outside J, and let's not even get started on the footwork and moves in the paint. He was good enough to get Rodman to remove both shoes, which is quite a sight.
Take a closer look Robinson is inside and Olajuwon pushes him to gain position in front then hooks his elbow over Robinson’s shoulder right as they both jump. Olajuwon is the dirty player
Hakeem was the one that gripped and jumped up on Robinson. Plus knocking Robinson from back/side before Robinson could jump, and therefore prevented Robinson from being able to jump. The fact that they called that against Robinson was a horrible call.
@@mythtek1 these people see what they want to see. I mean just by looking at it you can tell that Olajawan just straight up knocks Robinson then lands on Robinson.

The spin move Hakeem put on Ewing in the 94 finals in NY was one of my favorite career highlights of Hakeem. True that. He was very underrated. No way the Rockets win the championship without Robert. Nor do the Spurs without Robert. Considering the Bulls got eliminated by this same Magic team that's pretty obvious. The Rockets saw Rodman and Grant in back to back series this postseason run and were able to neutralize both so even with the addition of either the Rockets would still be a tough matchup. The Rockets had a lot of good ball handlers like the Bulls so the full court press was less effective on them usually. The majority of the other teams at the time relied on the traditional system where the PG did most of the ball handling.
Hakeem's wingspan is crazy. He put on a masterclass in there and he schooled Robinson and the Worm. Next he then schooled Shaq. Definitely my all-time starting Center. That midrange is automatic and his defense is the absolute best.

Good spot. Robinson learned some moves from Rodman. Rodman low-key almost broke Robinson's back at least once I seen.
