about left and right ears. Metallica always mix studio and live stuff the way that you hear James' parts in the left ear and Kirk's parts in the right ear (although James records every part except for Kirk's solos). There are some exceptions to this on early albums. So when you hear a solo or a riff in the left ear it's James, when you hear it in the right ear it's Kirk
The version of the song used in the offical music video sounds so much better, it basically cuts down the song to 4 minutes and makes everything sound less shitty
Your reaction sums it up quite well, some really cool bits but overall everything is a bit long and sometimes weird. I enjoy the album, there's a time and place for it, decent for the gym.
Ya it's like there are 5 parts to every song and they just jump between them in each song for 8 minutes. The songs are missing "clean" bits... its all chunky riffage with no contrast
Should do some later megadeth too like system has failed where their first guitarist from their first 2 records came back for one album in 2004 Or united abominations 2007 , dystopia 2016 or wait a month or two and do the new record that's coming out
The "weird" singing you heard ("Ominous I'm in us") was done with a voice/synthesizer (sorta like Peter Frampton's Talkbox). So sorry you didn't like the song (which is what you REALLY meant by "too long didn't need to be 8 minutes). ... Like H3LL it didn't, but hey, there's No accounting for taste (especially not if you'd rather be *a critic* than A FAN).
It's really not that bad. I feel like when it came out a bunch people ragged on it and then everyone else thought oh they must be right I will just parrot what they're saying and rag on the trash can drums. Half the people that hated on it probably never even listened to it
So I know you are skipping S&M, but you still have missed the album before this. Garage Inc. A 2 disc tribute to songs that inspired Metallica. Disc 1 especially has some great tracks covered with a Metallica flavour, Oh and St Anger is almost not worth listening to. Good luck getting through the whole album
The song is too long and dragged out. I know they tried to get this song long like And Justice For All but it just didn't make sense. The edit radio version is alot better.
Man I still can not stand this album. Have you ever listened to homebrew mixes of Metallica?! For example.. "If Moth into the Flame were on And Justice For ALL " "If Sanitarium was on the Black Album" "If Death Magnetic was on Master of Puppets"
Give the OFFICIAL VIDEO a go
The song is cut in half and the snare is normal.
That makes it a really good song to listen to 🤟🏼
Don't think so, the video version cuts away the best part of the song in my opinion, the post chorus "ominous i'm in us"
1:58 when it goes back into the fast groove its just so heavy man.

They only did that on Load -> St. Anger, all the other albums are James on Rythm
No, this wasn't recorded live-- It's the original studio cut.
The concept of this album was to make them sound like a garage band.

Great Reaction. Well done.
Try Invisible Kid from the same album...the intro of that song is the best drum line Lars made since Black Album back then

In hindsight - barring the aweful production and lack of solos - there are some really great songs on this album.

Can you do "Where the wild things are?"
This album witching video version !!!
It is a long weird song it's pretty good 👍
When did the" Megadeth boycott "start I missed the memo
0-3-5

St Anger is fine

I don't really get peoples gripes with this. It isn't bad at all. Just a few odd parts.

Sweet amber better
I don't like any aspect of this song.
