    2mm I think is the best scale to play mammoth battles with. The lines of troops look like period lithographs or sketches of battles.

    I must be honest you have an awesome channel,but I still can't get my head round 2mm wargaming I thought 6mm was rough to see but wow,keep up the great work

      Thank you, I appreciate that. I enjoy the challenge of painting the small scales especially as I spend my days painting the larger scales on commission!

      I feel there is potential with 2mm figures but first i want to find a way to make my 6mm figures look good first. I have tried a number of different basing systems and still can't make my mind up. 2mm is even harder. My gut feel is 2mm is idea for small playing area games. I am not certain if DBN is the best rules for it, a boardgame conversion into figures gaming may be a better set of rules to try for 2mm. I do like the holist view of the armies which make it look like a real battle.

    They do truly look like armies. Beautiful paint job on such a small scale.

    Yea I'm now thinking about going into 3mm napoleonics with a 1" base frontage just to be able to play some big battles on a small table.

    These look great! I have 2mm ACW for Altar of Freedom rules.
    You could paint the rear edge of the base different colours to designate different units.
    All the best!🙂👍

    I think what small games in 3-1mm best show is the space between units as larger scales have models with less space

    Yes. Waterloo with every, single battalion present suddenly become possible. Plus it just looks like a period illustration of a battle. (Oh, and it's cheap). And DBN is a very fun rule set.

      @@legrambo Born in Lewisham too, though removed to Sussex - I'm also interested in 2mm Napoleonics, maybe 6mm? Any thoughts between the two?

      @@williamsworkshopuk Hi William and thanks for the comment. I'm in kent these days and have been for much of my adult life :) Re the thoughts on 2mm v 6mm you might care to visit my blog as I have painted plenty of both scales! The figures in the video were sold to Geoff Barker who commented above and I have since painted a couple of nice 2mm DBA armies for him. Cheers, Lee. napoleonictherapy.blogspot.com/

    In this scale we can finally play Borodino without fudging the numbers.

    This has got me interested. Does anyone sell ancient Greeks and is there a painting demo for 2 mm?

    • @legrambo
      @legrambo  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Andrew and thanks for watching the video and commenting. Yes you can get 2mm 'Ancients' from Irregular Miniatures. I painted a couple of DBA armies for a friend recently, scaled down on 20mm bases, 24 elements that fitted in a small cigar tin! You can see them here: napoleonictherapy.blogspot.com/2022/07/cigar-box-dba-armies-and-epic-dbn.html Not Greeks though :) Worth looking at another friends clever idea for making blocks of tiny hoplites, certainly impressed me: ua-cam.com/video/lL3O8SwkIZw/v-deo.html
      Hope this helps
      Lee.

    How did you create the mat you are using? It looks great👍

    I can see the beenfits for vehicles (and ships) also huge armies like the Napoleon era.
    Is it not hard to pain them without a fully lit special painting area?

    • @johnscarr70
      @johnscarr70 2 роки тому +1

      no special additional effort required. Clearly different techniques involved for a small scale, but easy to achieve the results you're looking for using the same space you'd normally use. same goes for lighting.

      Very quick to paint these bases but I try to get as much details as possible, highlights to the horses etc helps make them pop a bit as does adding tiny dots to represent French pom poms!
