    Nice to see someone review 2mm. They're quite underrated IMO

      They are lovely. A whole different mindset. If I had the space, I would be making armies with a coupla dozen of these strips mounted on bases 2 in x 4 in. Now that would look a proper army.

    I saw someone do an entire Napoleonic battle using grains of rice. At a distance you couldn’t tell that each footman was half a grain of rice. I still can’t believe that anyone can paint such small scales. Incredible.

      That is impressive. Want to see some thing oddly cool? Some day I will throw together a hair curler army:

    Many, many years ago I got into 2m Napleonics and used each block to represent a company so the French would have battalions of 6 blocks (except the guard that had 4 blocks) etc

      What size basing did you use?
      I'm going to use these for such a wide spread of years, I'm not paying strict attention to the ratios of figures to base. Just going for what looks right on the table. They might be brigades or companies,depending on the scenario.

    What what British Calvary black and stature they make up for with lack of discipline. Just love smashing into disordered Scott's Grays with Polish Lancers when the Scots Grey's are busy pursuing some hussars. Vive L' Empereur!

    You should try the 3mm ranges from magister militum (historical) or the 3mm fantasy range from microworld games.
    Also great unboxing, plan to get my first order from irregular very soon (decided to for 2mm medieval there)

    Very rarely comment on videos but nice to see IM being reviewed on UA-cam there the reason I've got back into modeling I think I brought nearly all there 2mm 20th century range lol and heck there cheap and generally paint up well even if your not the best painter lol

    Your trolls are definitely 2mm. The fantasy range is ok but limited to a small spread. I missed a trick not getting into 2mm sooner, opting for 6mm. The thing I failed to appreciate was how interchangeable your bases are. My orcs / Uruk Hai work as undead courtesy of my crude colour scheme, but are all ancients. Rohan work as wood elves, etc. The key for me is removable banners. I use a tiny, transparent piece of plastic, folded in 2 like a sandwich board. The top half gets the colour / device. Swans for Dol Amroth, an alternative and you have High elves or some form of holy order.
    A wonderful scale. IMHO it takes more imagination to convince me that 20 dwarves or 6 mounted knights are a substantial military unit than it does to apply the same to several hundred 2mm models making up the equivalent. (And I'm stingy.)

      @shannonearley3784 4 роки тому

      A 2 or 6mm re enactment of the battle of helms deep would be pretty cool of you couldget the numbers exact. Eg 10,000 vs 2000 (i think)

      @@shannonearley3784 I've thought seriously about recreating the battle of the Hornburg. I've earmarked materials to build my battlefield and orcs, wild men and Rohirrim are plentiful.
      I've wanted to do the Pelennor Fields since reading the Warhammer scenario in white dwarf in the early 80s. I think 2mm would be the only scale to do it justice. Recently discovered the Micro ancient rules and I think that would do it. The obstacles for me are 18k Haradrim cavalry and my certainty that evil will prevail, even if the Witch King and Sauron are destroyed. At this scale heroes and small contingents of elite don't dominate in the same way as 28mm.

    • @shannonearley3784

      If you thought 3mm, magister militum has a samurai range including cavalry that i was considering as easterlings and maybe more saracen style miniatures would suit the harad forces

    • @johnscarr70
      @johnscarr70 3 роки тому

      @@shannonearley3784 IM cavalry - lancers from the renaisance range - have arrived. They suit my vision of Haradrim well, as light cavalry with spears, pennants visible. I had a little tester using the One Hour Wargames rules and Dol Amroth went straight though the lighter horse. Hope for the good guys yet. It'll take me ages to get things off the ground but If I stop trying to get the numbers exact, I can get on with the game!

    Why are the packets labelled Marl/7 Years War? Are u sure they're Napoleonics? They look like Marlburian/7 Years War to me!

    • @TheJoyofWargaming
      @TheJoyofWargaming  3 роки тому +2

      The package are properly labeled as 7 years war / Marlburran. Those are the ones I bought. They are packaged to be used, each casting as a single unit, in an appropriate ratio for irregular miniatures in house rules. However, I have based them very differently, so that I can use them for a variety of black powder eras. You can do this in 2 mm because so much of the detail is lost.
