    Thanks for the video. I have learnt what things NOT to do to my fine hair. But it would be useful to know which things I can or should do for my hair. Thanks.

    I know this is old, but this is on point! Especially the tangles I dust my ends every 3-4 weeks 😩 but I’m almost to waist length. After a lot of set backs. From not realizing my hair can’t handle weave (braids) so I stopped. My hair looks amazing.

    I have the issue of fine, medium density, low porosity hair that is Type 3C in the front, 4A in the back, & 4B around the perimeter. Twist-outs & braid-outs look piece-y & horrible on me. The only thing I can do that doesn't give me that look are wash-and-gos. The fine hair struggle is real!

      My sister has the exact same issue. She's in the 4c category though but with both fine hair and low volume, she tends to prefer the shrunken styles as they look fullest. May not be the best hair growth wise but I guess its better than a scalpy twits out.

    What I learned from this is that I do not have fine hair. I think my hair must be medium. Lots of strands, but always seemed thin to me. But I guess it's just not as thick as it used to be. When I was before menopause I had super thick hair.

    Great video. Not only do I have Fine hair, but I also have a slower than average growth rate. So Length retention has always been extremely difficult for me my entire life. The longest my hair has ever grown on its own, is to soldier length. Ironically, this happened while I was still using relaxers. But, it wasn’t because I was relaxed that helped me to retain that length, it was the fact that I was wearing weaves & braids consistently at that time as a protective style. I am the type of Fine Haired natural that can only retain significant length when wearing weaves or braids. I stopped using relaxers 8 years ago which has helped with fullness/thickness, but my length has not surpassed my soldiers. So I need to begin staying consistent again with braids & weaves as protective styles for length retention, while implementing these 6 Fine Hair tips. Thank you for sharing!

      Thanks for sharing. Although I don't have very fine hair, I find that I've always retained the most length when protective styling with braids and weaves too. The great thing is that once you get to your target length as I have, you don't have to weave or braid anymore. You can remain at the same length quite easily, as long as you are conditioning often of course 😄

    Whelp, mine is fine in the top and edges in the back. Its also less defined in those tho areas. The sides and back however, oooohh wee, its course. Kinda thick and I struggle because styles and products don't match for those 2 hair types.

      Well that's a difficult one. I would err on the side of the fine hair when it comes to a regimen. No point having long thick hair in the crown when the edges and nape never seem to grow right? But coarse hair will still thrive on a fine hair regimen. Fine hair would never make it with a coarse hair regimen.

    This is so me....I'm no longer getting a relaxer because of the issues you mentioned....I would try stretching and still have the same problem..thin ends....
    I'm currently transitioning to natural hair 💕

      Good plan. Not everything is for everyone. Some people have definitely done it but it take A LOT of effort and literal 24/7 protective styling to make it work.

    I have fine hair and it does not stretch easily. In fact I have to use heat on it to get a really good and lasting stretch.

    • @Blackhairinformation
      @Blackhairinformation  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for sharing. You might have fine individual strands but high volume hair which often will still need heat to stretch. As long as you are being careful with how often, you should be fine :)

      @@Blackhairinformation This is true indeed. I've recently begun using heat to stretch my hair before installing a 3-4wk protective style. I do a full pre-poo, wash, protein (if needed), and dc treatment prior to stretching and installing. When stretching with heat should I use the tension method or the comb attachment or only the concentrator?

    Hello! Thank you for the information. In the video you mentioned that fluffy twist outs and wash-and-gos may not be the best option for styling on fine hair. What style(s) would you recommend then if not a twist out or wash-and-go for fine hair? I have 4a fine hair and prefer not to add extensions. Thank you for your help.

    • @Blackhairinformation
      @Blackhairinformation  2 роки тому +2

      In the video it says that fluffy, overly separated twist outs are not ideal, not that twist outs in general are bad. You can still use twist out, just remember that there is strength in numbers so if it's not super fluffy then it should be ok. If it's length that you are looking to achieve then without extensions your choices would be styles that super low manipulation like french braids with your own hair, buns, ponytails, puffs etc.

    Thank you. Very educational. My issue is the width of my hair and curl pattern. I think I have two different hair types on my head (front/top, back and sides). What do I measure my hair against?

    • @Blackhairinformation
      @Blackhairinformation  2 роки тому

      It's really best to measure your hair against other peoples strands to know where you lie in the spectrum. Friends/sisters etc are great resources! lol It really is the only way to know for sure. You may find that your fine strands may in fact be middle of the road medium. Or you may actually confirm your suspicion that you have a mix off fine & medium or fine and coarse. Don't worry too much about the curl pattern as it doesn't determine the thickness of the strands.

    Thanks for this, Jerry curl perm or natural dreadlocks which is best option for those of us with fine hair?

    • @Blackhairinformation
      @Blackhairinformation  2 роки тому

      Oh well, that depends. Jerry curl is not that much better for fine hair as relaxer tbh. The initial straightening chemical is gentler than relaxer but most times the way it's done in salons, its also a double processed style because a second chemical is applied which can make things much worse. Nothing wrong with locs though. Strength in numbers and all that.

    I mean, she is giving this advice but not one of her videos actually shows her own natural hair-- it's a little sus. You don't even know if the tips she's espousing have worked for her

      I actually show my hair plenty of times on my blog. I grew my natural hair to waist length in 5 years.
