I'm a drummer and usually have nothing to say about guitarists but Mick is the ace in Mötley Crue's deck. He is a great rock guitarist and deserves more credit than he gets.
I'm a drummer also and I agree with you 100%. Mick Marrs is one of the guitar greats and very few seem to know that. His name should be standing beside names like "Dimebag" Darrell, Zakk Wylde, Slash, Hendrix, etc. Yes, I know there are others but I think I make the point good enough with those. Living less than an hour from there afforded me the opportunity to see some of the best of the best! God I miss those days!
My high school soundtrack....along with quite a few others. Concerts were so much fun, just straight forward rock and roll and a good time party-festive atmosphere. No hate, no anger, just people having a good time for a few hours!
This was the G,G,G Tour and I saw them at the Summit in Houston they were Amazing !! I don't know when Vince started skipping lyrics like he does now but the show I caught they were a Tight well functioning Band . They loved Houston and our Topless Bars back then so they delivered a show , before they went to the Titty Bar . Fuck I miss the 80's and my Youth ..
Damn right this is by far Vince's best performance caught on video. He sings (most of) the lyrics, isn't absolutely hammered and works the crowd just like the good ol' Vince knows. He never was a great singer, but he's one of those "ugly but cool" voices with lots of personality. Just like Ozzy and Lemmy, nobody else sounds like them. He got enough rockstar power to compensate his vocal skills. Thank you so much for this.
He tossed a frisbee that landed on the stage and said "This is how a California boy throws a frisbee!" as it said all the way to the back of the crowd. Lol.
I was at this show Whitesnake and Anthrax opened for them. And it is also mentioned in Nikki’s Heroin Diaries book, I just passed the place yesterday going to my daughters wedding, It was the best place to go for shows, HUGE parties the night before in the parking lot the night before, which is also just a field 😂 but have seen so many awesome shows there Metallica, poison/warrant/Tesla, Bon Jovi/Cinderella.. shit I drew a blank on who else.. 🤔 must be the effects the the parties in the field 🤣 but seriously, it was a blast there Legend Valley aka Buckeye Lake Music center
U definitely right there, he sounds amazing here I can hear Home Sweet Home word for word it seems age and excess drinking was ultimately the reason why other performances later were not as good but his an amazing singer.❤😊
I was there. Who could ever forget Anthrax at 11:30am!? I worked for Z-Rock at the time and am at stage left behind the inflatable Harley. It was a great time, five days before my 24th birthday! Look at that crowd. Ohio crowds back in the day were legendary!
LOL yeah there are still the rock chicks at concerts today, only today they are just men who think they are women. Back in the 70's and 80's you could find some great looking, and feeling chicks, today though you might get a surprise when you slide your hand up "her" dress lol. I do actually feel sorry for younger people today, all they do at concerts is hold their damn phones up cause they think that's how they make their memories, by filming everything.
My thoughts exactly. Where have all the rock chicks gone? I suppose there are goths and some who are into metal ...but you hardly see any metal chicks in the street. They are too busy pouting their lips into their phones.
@@studio-flash Yeah it seems the only rock chicks think they are a new breed of dinosaurs called a lickalottapuss cause they all seem to be more interested in other chicks than they are in the guys. I notice that the girls today are more into hip hop and rap, then again there really is not the great variety of great rock groups like we had in the 70's and 80's .
@@alabamahebrew Not too mention, most people were thin and in shape and you could easily have your chick sit on your shoulders bouncing up and down for the whole show. I don't see how that would be possible with today's youngsters.
Saw this same show in Nashville in July of 87. Crue had the mighty Whitesnake opening for them and it was a fantastic show. I still have the shirts I bought including the Whitesnake shirt that said "Whip it out, Wipe it off, and slide it in again". My mom was so pissed when she saw that.....great times!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had this show on VHS from my bootleg guy. Always thought . Was a big deal when shows like this came along. Such a great performance by the band. This was my Motley Crue. Outdoor show….daytime….and they are firing on all cylinders here.
Having seen this band live more times than I can remember, I have to say that medley near the end was probably one of the most fun things I've seen them do.
The band, the road crew, the local radio hosts, the nation wide rock mags, and the bands that toured with them all say this was the best and truest Motley Crue show ever.
this is who they truly are. No background vocal tracks = no background vocals. Decent studio band (with other players involved) live..they have nothing.
Great frontman! Saw them live many times back in the day. The energy from the stage and audience was mind-blowing at the time. Nothing even remotely like it today.
thanks for posting this is actually one of the best live shows that I have seen them do. they put on a good show. I would say that they were definitely in their prime right here. KICK ASS SHOW

I was at this concert one of the best outside sites for a rock show... 40-50 miles east of Columbus Ohio right off interstate 70 .. loved the t-shirt Hollywood Bad Boys ..
This is a great post. Man between 87 and 90, they really did a raw, badass rock show. Mick and Tommy are a rare team together. Tommy always made something of Mick's fills and likewise. Incredible musicians. Vince is better in this than 90% of the live videos Ive seen. Fresh coke....
It was a simpler time which was very uncomplicated. Nothing like that exists today unfortunately, which is sad but I am forever grateful to be a product of that era, the music, the experience & the generation! Proof that loud music, smoking dope, concerts, & having fun doesn't corrupt like PMRC thought. Lol
I always liked the day concerts as bands can't rely on the lightshow to save them, either you have it or you don't. It's just them and the crowd - saw the Crue on the Strip, Santa Monica Civic, open for Kiss, the US Fest and few more shows in the 80's, and this is where Crue peaked IMHO.
I love the Crue. R.I.P Emi Canyn. I was fortunate meet Emi and help her band She Rok out at Jezabels in Anaheim. My buddy Mike did amp work for the guitarist. She was very sweet and gorgeous. Mick Mars is the most underrated player. He has such a distinct style and tone.
I remember going to Jezabels in Anaheim back in the day to see bands. On any given day, members of bands could be seen in that small club just hanging out enjoying the music at the time. Great times that will live on forever!
i searched for live motley crue. concert vids. this one the tacoma show 87 and kansas city show 89. are the best. in audio and visual . good job. thanks

Just turned 29, olayed guitar and bass for almost 15 years. As soon as i finish my motor swap and get moved in my new place, im gonna start piecing together a drum kit!!
Bro it happens .. Better late than ever .. i used to play drums when I was 17 to 19 ..then i was vocals for a metal core band ... now I’m going back drums again putting a home studio on my condo and get back on track .. don’t get me wrong to make it to the top is hard not impossible 🍻🤘🏼🦇
I'm 41 years old and I wanna put together a bruce springsteen tribute band..... I've been playing drums since I was in middle school mid 90s
This was Vince's performance of a lifetime! What if he could have done that every night?? Great show
you should have heard him during the Shout tour... his voice was super strong and he still had that young man lung power.

not one cell phone in the crowd. Everyone just living in the moment with their friends.
12/21 throughout the 80's great time to be young. The POLAR OPPOSITE of today's world. I'll àllways cherish the memories of my youth.
They didn't allow cell phones, cameras or video recorders into most concerts in the 80s
I saw this tour.... White Snake opening..... 80s rock chicks were the BEST.
I saw them that November with GNR.......I miss those days!! Lol
I was there too! I remember hot it was and Coverdale coming out, draped in his leather pants.
Remember when he started singing 'Crying In The Rain' and it all of a sudden started raining? Once he finished, the rain stopped!
I was 16 and a huge Crue fan ( Still am and always will be ).
Many memories of Legend Valley ( Buckeye Lake ).
Living less than an hour from there afforded me the opportunity to see some of the best of the best!
God I miss those days!

NINE VOLT Yep I went to the show to
NINE VOLT I was there too
Shamdy Crook no It was Whitesnake and Mötley Crüe
with Whitesnake
For one night only come one come all and hear Vince sing the songs properly in this once in a lifetime event.
They were absolutely on fire here. Killer footage man.
Terrible audio though, disappointing to listen to, barely sounds like the actual songs.
@@peterbelanger4094
I mean, it was ‘87 so it wasn’t like the quality was gonna be super high tier. It’s pretty good considering what it is.
My good, OOOD bud who stood in my wedding one month ago today is about to purchase me and my wife some GR8 tix to CRUE in CUSE '23. Keep rockin'!
My high school soundtrack....along with quite a few others. Concerts were so much fun, just straight forward rock and roll and a good time party-festive atmosphere. No hate, no anger, just people having a good time for a few hours!
...and tickets were $17.00.
@kentkearney6623 everything was cheaper. Milk bread eggs gas etc.
I will always love Motley. This epitomizes the ‘80’s and how carefree everyone was. Crue forever...
so glad I grew up in the 80s. 🤩
This is the Crue I remember
Live, they were a raw, gritty rock band at this point with some serious swag and that bluesy undertone. Great upload. Thx so much for sharing.
I saw this show my 1st Motley Crue show in Rpi field hose in Troy. NY.. the best show ever°,
Saw this tour!!! Vince and the boys sound amazing!!! He works that crowd like a fucking pro!!!
I was there. Who could ever forget Anthrax at 11:30am!? I worked for Z-Rock at the time and am at stage left behind the inflatable Harley. It was a great time, five days before my 24th birthday! Look at that crowd. Ohio crowds back in the day were legendary!
Where was this at in ohio?
@@justinbailey8392Buckeye Lake Music Center, AKA, Legend Valley in Hebron
Z-Rock was awesome. Which affiliate did you work for? I don't remember Columbus having one until '89 or '90.
@@robertdog In 1986 there was WZRC from Circleville. That was the first one. Even though it was hard to get in North Columbus.
@@norcalnerfclub3423 That's awesome. How long did you stay in the business? Radio is a tough gig in the long run.
Can't express enough how fun the 80s were. Always a party! Do we even have rock chicks at concerts anymore? Seems like another lifetime ago...
@@alabamahebrew All true, well at least we got to experience it! Cheers 🍻
I was there, it was so fun! I sure miss the 80's.
When The Crue was at their peak, those were the days ...
That’s the Mötley Crue I remember ❤️
Had this show on VHS from my bootleg guy. Always thought . Was a big deal when shows like this came along. Such a great performance by the band. This was my Motley Crue. Outdoor show….daytime….and they are firing on all cylinders here.
This is some classic Crue! I’ll never forget seeing them for the first time in 84 at the Astro hall in Houston! With axe ; Roit, and Heaven
Wow! I bet that was a badass show.
Im almost 55 , this was so great , it was sad when it just ended , I was 17 again there for a little while !
Yes...proud to say I was there!!!
Having seen this band live more times than I can remember, I have to say that medley near the end was probably one of the most fun things I've seen them do.
Agreed! They didn't hide their roots!
This is one of the best crue concerts.
Holy Crap Mick sounds amazing!! Damn legend!
The boys were rolling on all cylinders, FUCK YEAHHHH MÖTLEY CRÜE
The band, the road crew, the local radio hosts, the nation wide rock mags, and the bands that toured with them all say this was the best and truest Motley Crue show ever.
Nothing about this comment makes any sense.
. Nothing about anything anywhere makes sense.
this is who they truly are. No background vocal tracks = no background vocals. Decent studio band (with other players involved) live..they have nothing.
They're energetic and good at pumping up the crowd.. Tommy's solid (nothing fancy) but solid... without him and solid mick they truly have nothing
compare the shows these days to the 80's..we destroyed in the 80's !!!!!
i bet vince wishes he could sing like this now.
Great frontman! Saw them live many times back in the day. The energy from the stage and audience was mind-blowing at the time. Nothing even remotely like it today.
Legend Valley. Saw them there three years later on the Dr. Feelgood Tour. Man was it ever hot! This is awesome!
Why is no one talking about the amazing Aerosmith cover?? Mick Mars is crushing that! He's doing it justice while bringing his own style
thanks for posting this is actually one of the best live shows that I have seen them do. they put on a good show. I would say that they were definitely in their prime right here. KICK ASS SHOW
Vince sounds great. I miss the older shows that focused on the band and not all the visuals like we have today.
Tommy is one of the very very few drummers that rarely rushes the tempo live..... a living metronome.
He was already playing to a click since the beginning of girls girls girls tour as they relied on backing tracks and vocal choruses
@@bobmason3625 when did they start doing that
Tommy had a finesse back then as well. A heavy hitter but with a silky smoothness that was fun to watch. He stopped playing that way after Feelgood.
Tommy is a great drummer, but there are at least plenty of other metal drummers that are better than him. Phil Rudd and Niko McBain come to mind
@@allencolvin4320leavin out vinnie abbot😕😕😕😕
This is arguably the best Crue footage ever.
OMFG!!!! What a great performance. The band is on fire. Really awesome. I wish I was fuckin' there!
There were reports that many of those who attended this concert had their faces melted.
Worked backstage at 20 yrs old. My best friend Chuck Golden made the party even better. God rest his soul
This is one of the best performances by Vince Neil that I've ever seen. Usually he's intolerable.
This is pretty intolerable , he sucks.
Yes, at some point Motley Crue was the total Package.
Vince is one of the luckiest singers ever in rock.. He couldn't sing worth shit even back then.
@@dougcronkhite2113 im a crue fan and even im a little surprised at how bad he is. holy shit their producer deserves a lot more recognition because he made him sound amazing.

Back when you seen crue and guns, then a few weeks later
Whitesnake and great white, then a few weeks later priest and krokus then a few weeks later Maiden and twisted sister then a few weeks later Dio and dokken

@Joe3 agree with almost everything, I don't worry like I used to about pedophiles as I taught my daughter how to shoot and she has a ccw licence.
If we ever get that time machine working Joe, lets bring the kids with us. I would say wives too, but I am still with mine since the night we met at the Monsters of rock show in 1988 at the old Pontiac Silverdome 👍🤟
Joe3: Very true, all of it. I’m voting Republican. Only chance we got.
Amen! And Amen to the others that replied. #freedom #liberty #trump

Always good to hear a rehab hello...
Hi, my name is Clarence and I'm a Crüe fan."
HI CLARENCE!! 😎👍
I was at this concert one of the best outside sites for a rock show... 40-50 miles east of Columbus Ohio right off interstate 70 .. loved the t-shirt Hollywood Bad Boys ..
Loved how the drum tech stepped in on home sweet home and Tommy running back to the drums. They changed that to a pause later on.
Was that Clyde Duncan "Spider"?
And even back then the Bass was still playing by itself lol
Saw them in 87 same year my daughter was born!!
Lol
surprisingly good recording for these years
I always liked the day concerts as bands can't rely on the lightshow to save them, either you have it or you don't. It's just them and the crowd - saw the Crue on the Strip, Santa Monica Civic, open for Kiss, the US Fest and few more shows in the 80's, and this is where Crue peaked IMHO.
I saw these guys in February 1984 in Cincinnati. Those were the times. Great show!
I was at this show.. Was absolutely incredible!
Why was it in the day time?
1987 I was 2 yrs out of high school great times Vince in his prime here one of the greatest frontman of all time 👏👏👏😉
Im just chuckling at the way Nikki is always bouncing around the stage 😂 Great stage presence.
I love these old concert videos. Makes me wish I was there. I was only 3 here lol
Dancin' on Glass!🖤
I saw Mötley Crue two times on Monsters of Rock Festivals in Germany in 1991. It was a great time in the 80s and the Beginning of 90s🤘
Great times that will live on forever!
i searched for live motley crue. concert vids. this one the tacoma show 87 and kansas city show 89. are the best. in audio and visual . good job. thanks
I had no idea there was a video of this! This was my first concert. Anthrax and Whitesnake opened.
TheGuitardom wow, I was there too, and was racking my brain on who came out before Whitesnake. I was good with the Crüe but was mainly there for Whitesnake.
@@DonnieRockett Somehow I still have the ticket stub. Anthrax only did a few shows on the tour then pulled off. I ran into Charlie Benante (drummer Anthrax) about 10 years ago backstage at a show. I mentioned this to him and he actually got an attitude like he was upset I brought it up and then just walked off. I had met other guys in the band before and they had all been really cool.
