Couldn't agree more with Clash at Demonhead. I always felt it was kinda similar to the Monster Land/World series on the Master System and Genesis. It's a very underrated game, and a ton of fun if you can forgive it for some of the quality-of-life issues it has.

When I was a kid (I was like 6 ) I remember my aunt bought "The Krion Conquest" to my female cousin because they saw there was some sort of princess on the box of the game so they assumed it was a game for girls. Of course the game is brutally difficult and my cousin couldn't pass further than a couple of screens, so they bought her "The Little Mermaid" instead and they just gave me this game, my aunt was like "here. you can have this game". @@Rountree1985 TTA doesn't feel nearly as similar to Mario 3 as TKC does to Megaman. The physics aren't even the same as Mario, nor do the graphics closely resemble it.
You can't copyright a game concept. Think about how many baseball, basketball, football or hockey games there are. Anyone can create their own baseball game or side scroller game, even if it has the same feel as another game. But you CAN copyright the code and art it self so you can't just take someone's game, change a few sprites and sell it as something different or you can't use Mario or Mega man characters in your game regardless if you drew them your self or have them doing something completely different.
Glad to see the Vic Tokai video! It was on my radar, and can't believe I suggested it when you were already in the process of making it. I guess great minds think alike! There's still so much more to do; and I'm sure I can't suggest anything that you aren't already thinking of.....or can I? How about American Video Entertainment? I'm sure I don't need to tell you about them, but I will anyway. They released a handful of unlicensed, budget priced NES games back in the early 90's. I had a couple of them and they were total garbage lol. Id really like to see you review them.
Golgo 13 (the whole franchise) should be really popular in the states. It has everything that appeals to us Americans. It's seriously a great franchise...it's like a Japanese James Bond who is a super trained assassin.
Krion Conquest gets a lot of flack for being a Mega Man clone, but it did things that would show up in later MM games. Charge shot, crouching, and if you play the original Magical Doropie in the ending Francesca is flying back to Earth in a fighter ship talking to her friend. Is anybody working on a Mega Man Clone Maker? Where Francesca, Alt Francesca, Kagemaru, Spritia, Grolla, and Zook are the playable characters.
I wonder if _The Krion Conquest_ would be an S rank if it retained all the story elements from the Japanese release. At the least, it's a lot more than what _Tuff Enuff_ retained (namely *none* aside from the endings, something you may want to make note of for a future Ranking Every Jaleco SNES Game episode, hint hint.)
All band names in the Scott Pilgrim series are video game references. Sex Bob-omb, Kid Chameleon, Sonic & Knuckles, The Clash at Demonhead, Crash and the Boys, Shattterband, etc. The series is littered with game references in general.

Id really like to see you review them.
bought Golgo 13 when it came out. Played it. Never could figure it out. Still love it though..
....
You’re thoughts on strategy games alone earned you a sub.
Some people love them - and good for them.
clash at demonhead was simply incredible!!! myu buddy and i would stay up all nigth playing this!!!
Conflict was an awesome one of a kind nes game that I played a lot of hours as a kid.
Everytime one of these come out it gives me a new list of games to play on retro pi
Your content as much as you are awesome my friend!
Great video John! Thanks for sharing! ✌
I've never played Clash at Demonhead, and I had no idea that Yamcha had his own game!
YES!!!!! IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO!!!! Seriously though, best Saturday ever!
Golgo 13 (the whole franchise) should be really popular in the states. It has everything that appeals to us Americans. It's seriously a great franchise...it's like a Japanese James Bond who is a super trained assassin.
Another nice video John. Thank you
Great list pat the nes punk would argue about the B you gave GOLGO 13 LOL
I was one of those gamers that made it a point to beat every nintendo game I played. Golgo 13 was one I've rented and never got to beat.
Love it do Mindscape next
I love Clash at Demonhead! I have also never beat it! I really want to pick up a copy of Krion Conquest!
Top secret episode was amazing, took me FOREVER to beat it
Krion Conquest gets a lot of flack for being a Mega Man clone, but it did things that would show up in later MM games.
Secret Ties, the other Golgo game is awesome also! Available as a prototype
I loved Conflict as a kid, it's a great strategy game, I wouldn't consider it an F
You have to be anti-strategy game to give a classic like Conflict an F. Riggs is upfront about his dislike of the genre though.
Another great video! Bring on the Data East video!
Eventually.
Clash At Demonhead the Rock and Roll band or video game??
The video game was first..Then the comicbook series scott pilgram vs the world and movie with singer with Brie Larson
All band names in the Scott Pilgrim series are video game references. Sex Bob-omb, Kid Chameleon, Sonic & Knuckles, The Clash at Demonhead, Crash and the Boys, Shattterband, etc. The series is littered with game references in general.
Wait...Vic Tokai isn’t some random dude?
Ha. I thought that my entire life until this video. I figured there was a guy in Japan named Vic and he owned the company. Oh well.
When i was a kid i always thought it had something to do with george Takei
@@MiNuSThisDay
Oh my.
@@MiNuSThisDay *lol*
A lot of you tubers will do a top 10 NES games video and claim they know it all, John Riggs is the real deal, most of these games I had never heard of let alone played, and 💯 he has played them all, respect. That said rating a game a D because you weren't good at basketball at school is hilarious 😂
I'll do my top 10 eventually. No hurry, the NES isn't going anywhere.
Wow, I always though it was just a company owned by a dude named Vic Tokai
Conflict was my favorite game. spent many hrs on it. My grade : S
Love these type of videos riggs
You should do list of LJN games from bad to very bad :).
I think you’re not far off any of these rankings, I might switch Golgo 13 to A tier but that’s a nitpick, also I’ll have to check out the Mega Man clone , excited about that!
