one of the subtle things about this piece is how all the grains of the different rings still lined up, very nice.
At 2:58 you can see a small dot on each ring as he mounts them together. So it was clearly both intentional and carefully done.

Like how you adapted your lathe with buffer wheels for polishing....if it saves money, space, and does just as good of a job as the actual tool, then I'm all for it!
I've seen other wood turners use their lathes for buffing. I think the attachments are readily available.

I love everything about this! Including the wobbly carnival-ride sensation of watching that go round and round. The lineup of the grain made it perfect! Beautiful. And that little piece at the end was like watching a barnacle get knocked off. Whack!
