  • Learn how to create an easy, but very cool looking game ready sci-fi HOLOGRAM material shader setup in UE5 in this tutorial by using a few nodes such as the Generate Band, Panner and Fresnel Function nodes. Perfect if you need a science fiction animated hologram holographic effect in your game or animation. You need two textures for this, a default texture for placeholder and a perlin noise texture. Both can either be quickly downloaded from the web or can be found in the Unreal Engine starter pack.
    If you just rather download the shader instead of following this tutorial you can download my hologram shader material on my Gumroad page for FREE, you can find it here: tiedtke.gumroad.com/l/hologram

    Thanks you very much for your work; i messed up somewhere because in the end i got a dark, barely emissive but now i understood the concept of making an instance material. I'll re do this tutorial for sure.

  • @Mirhaus
    @Mirhaus 2 місяці тому

    Thank you! I'm a novice and found it easy to follow along. It works fine in 5.3, though doesn't look quite as glowy as the tutorial does. I am curious about one thing though - when I try to put a custom texture on and apply it on a mesh then the texture starts tiling, while yours wraps around relatively seamlessly. Did you avoid the tiling by using a specific Earth texture or is there some option I've forgotten to check?

    Great stuff. I grabbed your material. Working excellent and doing what I wanted. Just looking at it.. it's plugged into emission but I'm not getting any light emission from it (it's not affecting/lighting anything around it) Any ideas?

  • @dadades690
    @dadades690 8 місяців тому +2

    Interesting tutorial, but I have a small problem x) I didn't use panners and a texture image, because it'll be a still image (it's for a blade on a katana), but the thing is, the emissive seems to make it impossible for it to be transparent (the material is set to translucent). If I check in the material window, or if I double click on the mesh and check there, I always see it transparent, but not in the viewer window,... I'm a bit at a loss here x)

  • @PixelsLaboratory

    Really cool effect, I just have one suggestion for future videos: when populating the shader with node after node after node, it's useful to preview the results from time to time, in order to actually see what we're doing and understand the workflow. Otherwise, if you keep on constructing the algorithm and only reveal the result at the end, it's pretty boring and confusing. I know it's easy to do, since you've done it prior to the video and now you're just following the steps again (probably from a second monitor), but it's not very intuitive for the viewer. Cheers!

    • @tiedtkeio
      @tiedtkeio  7 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for the feedback, I agree 100%! I realised this after watching it again several times looking for improvement. I will definitely make sure my next videos are more intuitive. 😀

    Thank you, but you could have just put a screenshot and a download link. If you watch Dean Ashford's tutorial he previews every node and explains what it's doing and why. A great tutorial is one where you learn things that equip you to solve your own problems, not just to copy a solution. I do still appreciate the video, but i thought this feedback was important.
