Command & Conquer Red Alert Remastered gameplay
Command & Conquer and Red Alert defined the RTS genre 25 years ago and are now both fully remastered in 4K by the former Westwood Studios team members at Petroglyph Games. Includes all 3 expansion packs, rebuilt multiplayer, a modernized UI, Map Editor, bonus gallery of unreleased FMV footage, and over 7 hours of legendary remastered music by Frank Klepacki. I don't know if you guys agree or not, but the reason this game was so amazing back in the day was because there was no UA-cam or Guides to help you. You literally had to learn for yourself the build patterns, stratz, taktikz etc... learn from your defeats, pick things up as you go along, but now you can simply load up best build patterns/strats for C&C and you're basically just pressing buttons which results in most games playing out the same way. I love this game still, the sound tracks are the best in gaming history in my opinion :) Hope everyone supports this game and it sells well so we can get Red Alert 2 as that is the best C&C EVER :)

It's extraordinary to see another new generation blessed with this game like myself and being opened up to strategy games.
Wait until they remaster Red Alert 2. Thats when the real tactics kick in. This is just who builds the most tanks the fastest.

Well, this game is from the mid 90s and was released in a time in which barely anyone had an internet connection.
That's why it never really was optimized for multiplayer. All the add ons focused on adding new single player missions.
That's why I don't think the multiplayer of C&C Remastered will live much longer.

Of course, there is no real „deep“ strategy in CnC games.
Used to prefer Red Alert when I was younger for the skirmish and aesthetics but with the remaster I find Tiberian Dawn a lot more fun in multiplayer. Surprisingly a lot more variety than simply spamming tanks at each other.
Christ, the salt is real in these online matches at times. I guess some people never grow up.
It’s just annoying when you have greasy nerds sweating all over their keyboards like calm down you’re playing an old ass game it’s not that serious. Building 15 war factories within a minute and having 10000 tanks 30 seconds later. It’s a GAME.

It is just whoever can rush the fastest... unfortunately. The 1v1 maps are too small on quickmatch too. The game is most fun when you play against friends and you set your own rules, like me and my friend did a game where we couldn't attack each other for 30 minutes so we could build our bases etc, also another game where only rifleman infantry were allowed, that was cool :) Enjoying the game, used to play it as a kid. Hoping this sells well so they make a totally new C&C game that will be supported with balance updates etc... because I am 99.9% sure this is just a release and then ditch remaster, as in they won't support the game very much if at all, it'll be in it's vanilla state for it's whole life.
I can't wait for red alert 2 to get remastered
It's god mod support tho? Not sure how extensive/deep that modding can go but it's a niche market anyway so the modders/enthousiasts can support it if they like?

Yea. Nowdays everybody is a copycat. I was disappointed to find out that everyone.... and I mean everyone just uses the same strategies. spam medium/light tank, spam medium/light tank. Its either just a bunch of new peeps watching videos on youtube from a rank 1 or some old dudes with no new peeps around. But its like this for every game now, everyone just goes on youtube and watches the rank #1 and plays off of his playstyle. Each game now becomes a mirror match. Atleast back in the days, creativity still existed and no one posted crap on youtube.
Besdies that, the game is horrible, theres constant lag and you hear everyone saying it. The game can hardly take 20 tanks at the same time. Save your money.
Fortunately people like you and I still exist wtihin the RTS realm where its not all about APM and spamming type tactics. I can respect that type of gameplay because I have always enjoyed the C&C series since I first owned my own computer, but I find must more satisfaction in some lengthy strategical battles. 30 min cease fire is a great idea.
Brings back good memories where I ranked ranked 10 in the original RA. Heavy tanks were OP back then, but now it's light tanks that are OP. It's kind of crazy how simple this game is compared to Starcraft today.
I only remember playing Tiberian Dawn on the N64 as a kid. Hearing Jarvis in Red Alert makes me excited to play RER when I get to it lol.

yeah, one of the many reasons why i avoid any kind of (competitive) pvp for the most part.
@Ricardo Jafe yes, "words" i do not need in a video game where you are supposed to have fun. Don't worry i stand over most of it but i am just not comfortable with the whole toxic pvp environment that pathetic people like the one at 15:04 create.
And yes it is the internet and probably just a salty kid or manchild. But words have more impact than someone would think and it can be a literal weapon. Otherwise (cyber) bullying would not be a thing for example. And some people started out by using the power of words to influence a whole nation for their own goals.
I know this may go to far but for you it's just words but for someone else it creates an environment where you feel not comfortable in. Good for you that you adapted or even accepted other people's bad behaviors, i can't.

@@VentelR i think it is not in my nature to "own" someone. I rather befriend and work together as a team. And this i mainly and almost only found in pve environments.

I do wish they would add some larger maps to the pool though, so that we get some macro-style games instead of the eternal light-tank rush META

Yeah larger maps do make a difference and make rushing not the only strategy.
Wow Light tank rush....the Zerg rush of C&C xD so glad i don't play Online, doesn't look like it is fun. So many units in the game and a match lasts 3 minutes.
Light tanks are so fast that you literally can't damage them when they're moving. I've been mowed down even though I had an equal number of heavy tanks. No idea how to beat that. I've beaten every other thing ever thrown at me. For now I'm considering a base trade and just winning on eliminating all the buildings.

The game sufferes from what earlier starcraft one suffers from. The maps are just not well designed, there is no way to defend your base at all, and most are just completely open.
The meta is tanks and more tanks lol but I main Soviet and just recently started playing as allies but there is a way to beat it you just have to use the Q button that way your always moving then attacking and so on because while your moving you take 90% reduced damage.
Just. Build. Tesla. Coils.
I cant get past a defensive soviet tesla coil build no matter how many light tanks i have, and no matter how fast they are, you still cant dodge a point n click bolt of lightning...
So that's how Blitzkrieg works :)

Either fog of war or only MCV at the start with no extra units. Extra units makes the scouting phase too easy.
I would've thought this would have been standard when they got input from OpenRA. Shame that this isn't the case.

I'd disagree. While it would make it more competitive, unit balance is all over the place still, and there's other newer rts that fill the competitive role. May as well let nostalgia play it out and let the game die. Mods may deliver FOW etc though

I remember that when I was a kid, it was impossible for me to beat AI in skirmish as allies, "because they do not have heavy tanks".
I have found out that instead, I can pick naval map, rush battleships and wipe everyone out even if my base is destroyed.

I think Spain and Turkey were supposed to be some of the Allied "factions" left out of Red Alert 1. Germany=Stronger tank cannons. England=better tank armor. France=faster firing tank cannons. What do the new countries bring to the table?

I do have to admit it is pretty cool to see that you can hotkey what buildings you want to construct. I also like that the improved the toolbar to make it easier to go from buildings to infantry two vehicles and so I'm like they did in Tiberian sun and all the later command and conquer and red alert games. I just hope there is more to it than that and a graphical update and remastered music. I get that Stu is obviously quite amazing at this game, but I'm not into an RTS where battles are this quick.
Please I would just like to know as someone who actually grew up playing red alert but then started playing Starcraft and Warcraft 3 which were much more refined and had much better controls and well at least Warcraft 3 had better AI Starcraft AI but probably not by a whole lot, I would like to know especially considering Red Alert 3 is my favorite game of the command and conquer series, especially with it's much more refined and improved controls and balancing, I would really like to know what exactly they did to improve the gameplay of this remaster of command and conquer and red alert. I have found that the original Red alert has not really aged very well with really stupid AI and I honestly thought extreme and balance of power with Russia being the Soviets are more powerful than the Allies but with slightly reduced cost. Like in Starcraft and Warcraft 3 and in general and in Red Alert 3 is there Attack moving? If you don't know what that means do not answer that question.
I am intrigued by this game, but I am extremely hesitant to purchase a remaster after getting Starcraft Remastered a few years ago. Starcraft Remastered is literally just a graphical update. it's still has not the greatest ai and it still has Dragoons running around like complete morons not exactly doing what I'm telling them to do. it's still has flaws and using some abilities by making you still use the abilities of every single unit you have selected instead of only one of them like what Warcraft 3 improved upon in 2002. And don't tell me about custom hotkeys in Starcraft remastered. a year before they released Starcraft remastered and they allowed you to add a custom hotkeys on the original Starcraft so that isn't anything new.
I'm not going to purchase a remaster if all it is is a graphical update. I can tell a lot more effort was put into the remasters of command and conquer and red alert, but I really hope that includes better controls and better AI. As well as Attack moving. which house small units are in command and conquer and red alert I find it kind of hard to Target and attack on an individual unit when it's moving sometimes.
I will admit being able to battle online on this game does sound intriguing, but I'm looking at the online battles and it just looks like a race to mass the most units like Red Alert 2 was. Not much strategy at all there.
If you hate the controls in Starcraft 1, then this game probably isn't for you. The unit pathfinding isn't changed and it's not up to modern standards, to say it lightly. It's especially bad with long range units, that will frequently not use their range and instead run up to the enemy when you order them to attack. Sometimes units just do nothing when you give them an order. But you can get used to it, especially in the campaign where you can take things slower. In multiplayer you obviously have to learn to play around the quirks if you want to be competitive.
First thing I did in the options was to reduce the scroll speed of the maps...its insane!
I wish they made Red Alert mechanics into remastered Tiberian Dawn, Tiberium universe is more appealing to me but I see why people rather play Red Alert.

What made these games special for me was more the cutscenes and story getting you immersed in the battles. The actual gameplay was usually pretty repetitive. I mean it's cool for a short time for nostalgia but if we compare it as a game to something like Starcraft....

Ive played this for years on cnc net imo allied faction is underpowerd but i did notice that you get certain bonusses to armor for tanks or infantry depending on wich nation you pick maybe that bring a little more balance
Nah, Allies have the stronger early game, and in any RTS, the side with the stronger early game usually has the advantage. Can't get to a strong late game if you can't through the early game.
allies have cheap, fast tanks that build quickly. their defenses are cheap too and fire even when low power.
allies vs. soviet, you have to turtle first if you are soviet because you can't outproduce allies and allies can have early defense turrets anyway because it's cheaper than coils.
I've heard it said that Allies have a stronger early game because of their cheaper tanks. I don't know about that. I've seen RC1985 play Allies and he seems to flourish more in the late game.
Funnily enough, if that is true, it's the exact opposite of how it plays out in vanilla RA2. Soviets have better early game with Rhino tank rushes. Allies have better late game with Chrono legionnaires, Mirage and Prism tanks.
Allies have cheap units but that dont matter when tesla coils pop up in your base and yes they do that

I have this game, but it's called 8 Bit Armies...BOOM! See what I did there? I've actually played 8 Bit Armies a dozens of times more than I've ever played C&C, RA1 or RA2. In fact, the only C&C game I've ever put any significant time into is Generals. I'd always wanted to play this game from the time I was at a Game X-Change and the two guys working there had 2 PS1's hooked up and were playing against each other.
Good example to show why Light Tanks are better than Med Tanks.

This looks alot like Soviet vs Soviet in ra3. I would suggest selling command center after second warfactory to get eco boom (if you can burn through the cash quick enough)
ex rank 1 multiple months on ra2 2001-2003 here, noticed miners have weird ai, they mine gems so far away from refinery, micro manage them for better economy, i used to fill miners half way sometimes also helped abit !! suprised u were selling ur baracks as well? sending infrantry to tank for ur tanks was part of the pro level of play!!

As an avid viewer of the Starcraft proscene, it hurts me to watch this and consider this 'rank 1' play. So basic and slow, virtually no control grouping. So little display of strategy or even tactics. Attack, move, attack, move. Makes such terrible content to watch. The games themselves got boring after I saw like 3. I used to love beating up on my brother and friends in this game, but feel I must've grown out of it or something. This just made me sigh. =[
@@jacobunderwood4957 Agreed, I do love the game and has a place in my heart but there doesnt seem like many differences in games. I play mostly ra3 and kanes wrath and you get so many more option for rushes, cheesing and unit mixure but then again the game is nearly 25 years old xD

Really cool, a couple of questions. How do you move your tanks and attack at the same time to protect them? Also, did you set hot keys to build each structure and then select them to place. How do you do this? Any answer would be really appreciated. Good job 👍
Use Q, you are basically setting a waypoint.
At least that’s how it worked in the 90s
Atack enemy and fast move command somewhere u dont even need to Use q for waypoints
Also, you can use Ctrl+(number) to create groups and make flanks with the units

Looks like meta now is light tank rush. I've heard that a balancing patch will be released by the devs sometime this week. Wonder how that will affect meta? We need to see some good tech end game builds and it's not gonna happen with the current meta.

its not rly ranked imho , who knows how player matchmake i mean u might be on 1st pos and fight 150th guy.
this isnt even a good strategy mode ,i like premade games much more. also never played anythink slower then moderate speed but i would like to try my strategy skills on slowest speed, thats what so special on this game its RTS with super slow game settings in the game where u need to control almost every unit/grp and even hand control harvester to pick ore u want in that particular moment, thats bloody awesome a completly differs from SC2 super fast gameplay we used to
I have a noob question here, is building infanterie in pvp really worth it considering how fragile they are?
Cnc 3 main here : so my general feeling is the problem is the lowers can be run over, they are slow and light to kill. So you build big mass (low costs) and use them more to defend or build so much that you can run over the enemie.
@@gustavgunz1877 Even then it seems kinda pointless since your opponent can just spam light tanks to run down your army with impunity. From a macro perspective it looks like a lose lose situation.

This game really teaches you how to micromanage in rts games.
Seems like a lot of players don't know about the scatter button. Essential in tank vs tank battles, and the game never really teaches it to you during the singleplayer game,.
I hope Ww patch this game and make huge changes for a special competitive mode

Thanks again, I re-bound Q to Shift. I lost my first 2 using your help (getting used tot he hotkeys) have won 11 in a row since. Now it says there are no players in my skill level available and just doesn't load! Not sure how I get on that leaderboard though! I must have played 40 and won 30
There are players in your Skill level but no one searched at this moment so if you press to stay in the queue you can get every player from 1-to Last place

This game really is a question of who is the fastest.
i do have a question doe, how are u doing that so ur tanks keep shooting while moveing? if im giving an attack order and then send them with a move order somewhere else they stop shooting?
use the scatter command, old hotkey was 'x' not sure how it is now with remastered.
You tell the tanks to attack something, then while holding the Q key tell them to move

Command & Conquer: Tank Rush Unit Micro or 2nd Ore Refinery Tank Mass Unit & Micro. ...Starcraft: Many different builds possible. No useless units or technologies.
And you can actually micro your units.
That first map is such a biased map. Should definitely go for crystals right off the back though. I can't stand top left on this particular one :(

Are you using attack moves? Is it ctrl+alt LMB? Saw someone claim that in a comment on another video.
There is also the "Q trick" from the old days; first order tanks to attack a target, then q+click somewhere else, and they will fire on their target (if in range) while moving towards the location of the q+click.
I don't have those states information on the quickmatch tab, do you have to be on the leaderboard to see your stats?
can u still cheat by using light tanks to shoot then move shoot then move?
