I think you missed the Maximus storyline where he shows that what makes him a good person is not his combat skills, or his unquestioning loyalty, but actually having a good morality and sense of right and wrong. The difference between how Knight Titus made his squire go first, vs. Maximus protecting Thaddeus is like a 1 for 1 comparison. I think that the Cleric who keeps promoting him may be an old member of Lyons company, and that branch of the Brotherhood who tried to protect people vs. just hoarding technology, and see's in Maximus that being able to know what's right and wrong is a more valuable skill than knowing the difference between a circuit and a rotor from a wiring diagram.

I saw somewhere where the three main protagonists represent the karma system. Maximus being like a player character does some good things but isnt against lying or stealing in order to get stuff

I love Maximus. I hated him at first.
He's the epitomy of the phrase "failing upwards".
It's absurd but I've seen it happen irl.
But for me, Max is just a dude who wants to chill with the homies and go home to his girl kinda guy and he was born out of time.

The reason why the ghoul didn’t kill maximus is cause the knights armour he took had reinforced chess plate which means the weak point was fixed. Maximus even says it to the knight when he tries to spark a conversation. :)
The thing he's talking about is a lining on the inside of the armor that aids in mobility, it wouldn't protect him more.
I thought the same thing too at first but when you go back and watch the scene in the Observatory, the Ghoul loads a special bullet into his revolver. It has more of a sharpened point to it. So the weldment has a flaw to it but it needs something with more piercing power to exploit.
At 8:00 he was unable to use this power armor weakness before because he didn’t have an armor piercing bullet, I forget if it was an episode seven or eight, but he distinctly comes across an armor piercing round
I agree to an extent that Maximus was not the best character, but the theme of his character is that he was looking for a home and a family. The Brotherhood represented that for him, but after giving several years to the Brotherhood he realizes they are shallow and don't really care about him. He find his home and family with Lucy. His character shows promise by him being brave and willing to face almost certain death so Lucy can escape.
This show made me buy new Vegas 👍

You pose the question about how the Ghoul could defeat a whole gang of power armor but not Maximus earlier in the season in his power armor. The theory I've heard and is going to be my head Cannon is a throwaway line about the tempered lining. It gets mentioned twice in the series once by Maximus and once by Lucy. I believe that might be why the bullet didn't Pierce in their fight in Filly.
Its good to finally hear your thoughts on the show. I still can't believe Dune and Fallout are truly mainstream. It's fucking awesome. Oh and your maximus critique felt like commentary on the BoS as a whole. They aren't knights in shining armor. Thanks for the review!

I find it hard to believe that since the connected vaults are situated in the city formerly known as Los Angeles which is called the LA Boneyard that they weren’t invaded by The Masters Super Mutant Army
Yeah you pretty much came to the same position I did, The fun quality of the show overshadows the lore questions I have.
In regards to the fiends u do find human flesh at their camps in New vegas when u go to fight them for the ncr
the kenshi music fits fallout really well

In Fallout Shelter you can get Maximus and there he only has 4 Intelligence 😅
The Ghoul didn't use it against maximus because he didn't have the proper ammo. You see him loading prior to shooting the brotherhood.
Where did he get the ammo
Shady Sands is already referred to as the "first capitol' in Fallout New Vegas.
If you talk to the NPCs in Freeside about what's going on out west one will mention Shady Sands and you can ask them about it; they will refer to Shady Sands as "the first capitol of the New California Republic" implying that by 2281 Shady Sands is no longer the capitol.
My theory: By 2277 Shady Sands had expanded to a size that it, or outlying food production regions had been relying on water siphoned from Vault 33. That's how Lucy's mother discovered them. This siphoning might also be behind the food shortages/drought that seemed to effect both Vault 33 and Shady Sands. When Rose Mclean went to the surface she brought with her knowledge that Shady Sands was drawing attention to itself by using that water. So Shady Sands lost access to that water either voluntarily or because Hank and Bud managed to cut it off. Either way that led to famine on the surface in the late 2270s and Shady Sands couldn't expand any more making it less desirable as a capitol and starting it's decline around the time the NCR starts fighting the Legion in the Mojave. By 2282 Hank has had enough of Rose not returning with their children and escalates things by removing Shady Sands... and possible other NCR sites; Maximums says "bombs" pleural dropped when he was a kid 14 years before 2296.
Ngl i kninda play like Maximus, so i LOVED HIM. He is young clay bieng Molded into a zelot to be a strong right hand.
Most lore breaking shows, like Disney Star Wars or Rings of Power, I give up by episode 3. With Fallout, it made me feel disappointed that there wasn't more episodes.
I never played the games, but I loved the show, it was done really well and a lot of fun to watch. Since then I started playing Fallout 4 for the first time and am really enjoying it.
Honestly you’re lucky you haven’t played Fallout until now, but you really should get your hands on Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and play those before 4. And also you get to see a younger Maxson, weaker and less douchey BoS, and Liam Neeson
Love the series very interesting and enjoyable. Are you going to do a Dune series someday?

Whats wild is they apparently had to scrap certain ideas for the show so they dont end up interfering with their planned Fallout 5 story

As I understand it they were mostly raiders. Moldaver only brought a few real soldiers. The rest were expendable raiders.

It’s a different airship from the prydwyn called the Caswenyn. I still think that brotherhood ending is canon in Fallout 4 though…
In the marketing it was called the Caswennan, but in the show when the air ship arrives you can see the name on the side and it says Prydwyn. I think the other name was just to confuse viewers and hide the real name.

I think you hit the nail on the head for a LOT of this. Now I just have to get my girlfriend to watch it with me for my second watchthrough. Videogame movie/show adapatations are so notoriously terrible, that even normies know the trope.

For me Maximus is an example of someone who is deeply traumatized, and whose brain has been fried as a result. There is a lot of evidence for CPTSD making learning in young children more difficult. Ask me how I know.

You give the Brotherhood too much credit they've always been full of incompetence and shady practices.
About Cold Fusion, part of me wonder if Vault-Tec had "planned obsolence" or "weak variant" since...GECK was supposed to be issue with one but all settlements formed by opened Vaults even Shady Sands lack power plant for it (even Vault City rely on its Vault reactors, Shady Sands resembled a village than bustling town, and NCR had to seize Hoover Dam) unless Brotherhood of Steel destroyed them before Fallout New Vegas (like they did destroy NCR gold reserves and infrastructures).
Plus Enclave having spare GECKS (rest either lost from Vault collapses or already used) and scientist had to reverse engineer it (hence why the pellet has Vault Tec).
That or just be trying to make fan assumption.

A lot of your negatives are simply things you don’t pay attention to which is kinda big for reviewing a show.
Pretty much all the lore issues start happening when they began to mess around with Shady Sands.
Not sure why they did this when they easily could have just had another area like Camp Searchlight or The Divide
Fam you probably never felt the connection with Maximus story because he’s not like you.its interesting you don’t like his storyline or him and also seemingly disapprove of the relationship between them. I wonder if other black watchers or the white woman demo would agree with you. Take a look at the IGN interview and these comments and Maximus gets much love.
I agree about the Lucy and Maximus with them trying to force that diverse relationship. When in that moment they could have really hit it home for everybody if they were just strictly friends with none of the kissing and planting the seeds I would have actually got it
Can you imagine having a wife (mate) that thought ending civilization was OK. It seems the TV series was written by a team of writers that never played the game and/or knew the timeline of events.

so they just cobbled all the best parts of the games into a hot mess of a show, got it. glad i was right not to bother pirating it, because damn paying for streaming for a single show that may not even be worth it.
