I find it interesting, that a lot of these outboards come in 3's, all with the same displacement, and weigh pretty much the same. Like the 40, 50, and 60hp all seem like the same motor. I feel like they just change the ECU flash, and add or remove restrictor plates, and charge you more or less money for the otherwise exact same thing. I feel like you'd just want whatever the max horsepower for whatever displacement that weight class of motor will give you. I could be wrong though, I don't know much about boats, haha. I'm definitely a motor guy though. Going up to the 75, gets you a little more power, but a lot more weight, whereas the 90 gets you the same weight, but a whole lot more power. Interesting. I don't know why I'd want a restricted but bigger motor. Is it torque? Holeshot performance? Longevity?
Thank you for sharing your expertise with us. I'm just about to buy a new Grand G420 with a Suzuki 60 on the transom. I've always sang the praises of the Tohatsu outboards as I've found them to be bullet proof, but these new Sukies seem to be very well made and reliable. It's good to watch one being unboxed and installed on a boat, your video was extremely informative and very enjoyable to watch. Many thanks from Northern Ireland 👍🇬🇧
could you do a video of mounting an outboard from scratch? like no predrilled mounting holes, to get it in the right position (hull-anti ventilation plate)? cheers Brad (New Zealand) Loving your vids
Planning on repowering my boat, found a good deal on a Suzuki 40. Which is max for my rig so what or why Suzuki is my question pro con etc from my checking they are way cheaper than the rest curious why and what dealers say on longevity issues etc they've seen.
That would be awesome on my Tracker, It is rated for a 60hp and currently has a 1991 Johonson 40hp and the VRO works!! Amazing,,,well for now,, Just put a water pump in that I picked up from you guys, But a upgrade soon would be Awesome! I Just dont trust that old Johnson,
Finally a 50 unboxing ! This model is available with a tiller handle. Would the tiller handle delete the wiring harness and just leave you with the battery leads for the starter ? Also does the tiller handle come with the shift and throttle cables? Thanks man !
Hello, I would like to know where is the cap of the vapor separator for transport since I bought a 60hp and I see the sticker that says that the cap must be removed? thanks
I got a 2021 df 50 had some milk just around the head but not enough to milk the oil pan any ways flushed it out and hearing a tapping noise when i accelerate ever hurd of such issues
Back in the early 00's my dad went from yamaha 2 strokes to a suzuki 140 4 stroke right when thet first came out b4 the bugs were worked out guess there was to much water condensastion in our gas back then my dad didnt do maintinence like he does to his 2008-09 90 yamaha 4 stroke my dad said his old 140 was even better on gas then his 90 4 stroke with the right prop we had gone all the way from nunam iqua lower yukon to marshall on the yukon brought up a whale to my grandpa
After watching your channel i been looking to re power my 99 champion 187 elite, it currently has a merc 175 efi but i have some questions about the Suzuki motors, after reading the specs the 175 suzuki is almost 100lbs heavier than the 200hp Suzuki🤔. Do you know why that is? Also i saw that the Suzuki are inline 4, do you think the 4 inline is better option than a v6 or now the merc v8? The my champion is only 175 max hp bit seeing how the Suzuki 175 is heavier than the 200, could i go with a 200 and my bot be fine
Looking through our Suzuki dealer books the DF200A weighs 518 lbs and the DF175A weighs 511 lbs. Essentially they are the exact same motor but the 200 has a different tune. Suzuki makes horsepower with bigger holes while Merc makes power by adding more holes! At the end of the day the Inline 4 Suzuki's have 4 less potential problems compared to the Pro XS v8. If you're going to re power go with the biggest motor that your boat is rated for.
Team Marine Service thank you very much for the info. i was pretty sure the difference was cylinder size, and in reality 4 cylinders are cheaper and easier to maintain that 6 or 8

Yes!
Plug is on port side of engine. In a vent line...about a quarter inch thick tube. Turns out to be easy to see....stuck in end of tube
Great vid!
