- I got the chance to ride the coaster many consider the best in the world this past summer. In this video, I'll give my full thoughts on its pros and cons, and then give my overall opinion on it!

It opened 2000. Its a classic. Of course coasters have got more intense since then. Its called progression. You need to respect this coaster for how groundbreaking it was at the time and how it's still an imposing beast of a coaster till this day
Agreed. And it’s still one of Cedar Points top coasters. 20 years later.
Millennium force, is one of my most favorite rides. It is so scary on the lift hill, but such a smooth ride.

Everyone always has their hands up on this ride. No need to brace for intense transitions, even though the train is going 90 mph
Also there's no vantage point in the park where you can see the whole ride. The only way to experience it is to get on

It's funny that you mention the bugs because I've ridden this coaster MANY times over the years and I don't recall ever getting a bug on me. Not even once. Maybe I'm just lucky.

+Skyler Powers It also depends on the time of day you ride it. If you go on during mid day, when the sun is out, you usually don't have that many bugs. However, when the sun starts to set you do get some bugs. The park is located in Ohio and surrounded by water after all.

I am one of those people who do not think it is overrated. Also, Everytime I rode it I did not get covered in bugs, but I rode near the back row

Bugs are only a problem at night. During the day it's not an issue so ride it during the day. Btw this is based on my expirience and last time I went was 2014

Taylor, Millennium opened in 2000 so it is 16 years old. Just think how many incredible rides it has given before Intimidator 305 and Fury 325 came along. I don't count Top Thrill Dragster or Kingda Ka in this group because a 45 second ride, while unbelievably exciting does not a Hyper Coaster make. Length of ride and maintained speed are very important in my book so Millennium is the ticket for me.
I agree, if you rode Millennium Force 18 years ago, you would have come off just like you came off of Steal Vengeance, it would have knocked your socks off! There was nothing like it before it, with an amazing new ride experience. Just need to keep this in mind when you review older roller coasters & try not to compare to new rides with new technologies, just not a fair comparison. If you never rode Fury, Intimidator or Leviathan, I'm sure you would think differently of Millennium. I think that's why its so popular, many of the fans rode it back when it was new & completely fell in love after their first ride, there was no comparison to anything at that time. I rode it the first time in 2004 & loved it immediately.
and Millennium Force is still forcefully in the debate with Fury 325 on the best of all time! Technology will keep on rolling along... until someday they come out with a new astro-coaster called say ... Fury Force 605!
@@mmmclay Millennium force was my 1st time ever roller coster in USA went on front row and was like wow amazing ride rate 8/10. I came from UK August 2017. Have done roller costers before but MF was 1st one in USA.
everyone is entitled to their own opinion. in my opinion, millennium force is the best ride at cedar point. ive been going there for the past 12 years now and i can honestly say that every time i get off of this ride im wanting to get back on again and ride.

Magnum XL-200 used to be in the same boat, as did most record breaking coasters. Millennium Force is almost 20 years old and reigning supreme for as long as it has is impressive but it is time to pass the crown. Its still on the Mount Rushmore of coasters though, probably for very much longer, and hopefully Cedar Point can build another coaster to reclaim the throne.

Great video! Good, honest review about a great ride. Only one thing. You said "Not as intense as the other two Cedar Fair gigas." There are four total. Fury 325 at Carowinds, Leviathan at Canada's Wonderland, Intimidator 305 at Kings Dominion and Millennium Force at Cedar Point. Not complaining in any way as this was a great video, I just wanted to put that out there.
Thank you! I should've clarified, I was referring to the 2 cedar fair giga's that I'VE ridden. I have yet to do Leviathan, so I was comparing it to the other two.

Don't forget about Steel dragon 2000 in Nagashima Spaland in Japan. It's one of the 5 giga coasters in the world.

I never been to cedar point but this one of those rollercoaster that is one my bucket list
I sat in the front row at dusk, I got covered in bugs... but the ride was so fun that I didn't care.
I did Millennium Force back in 2003. Definitely an awesome ride. It is incredibly smooth, unlike some other coasters I've done. It certainly one of my favorites. My absolute favorite is Kingda Ka. Now that is an intense ride.

i made the mistake of riding Kumba while it is showering outside (they were still running it XD) and it felt like being shot by paintballs. Is the bug problem just as bad?

Awesome review Taylor! I've never seen an in depth review of Millennium Force before and always wondered what the air time was like, if it was intense, or if it was just plain fun. Now I know. Speaking of fun roller coasters, have you ever ridden Skull Mountain in the back row?

Yes there's 3 other giga coasters that are in the cedar fair chain. Don't forget that Steel Dragon 2000 is also a giga coaster but is not in the cedar fair chain and it's currently the longest roller coaster in the world at 8,133ft.

@Jacob LeBlanc six flags is more of a chain that wants to attract people with rides that look really good but when enthusiasts ride them they are not as good a everyone else says

The first time I rode this was in the front at night. I thought it was raining but at the end I looked at my shirt and I was covered in bugs. The next time I rode it I was in the very back and there weren’t any bugs.
I agree that the ride could definitely be more intense. My favorite Cedar Point ride is Maverick as well. But what I like most about this ride is its fear factor. From the height, the location being right next to the lake, to even the spiders surrounding the queue, this ride scares the shit out of me

Just if you don't know about this ride Millennium Force was built by Intamin of Swizterland.
Taylor, the bugs are mostly in the night when they're there, which is why I don't even go on night rides with this.

This ride was down this past Monday and Tuesday. The only days I was there. Had a great time at the park, but was very disappointed I didn't get to try this. Does anyone know what the deal was?

I live between clevland and Pittsburgh so my two home parks are kennywood and cedar point so I go there a lot. I think the phantoms revenge is very intense but I like MF better. What do you like better

I didn’t get covered with any bugs, though I did get a few on both Maverick and Steel Vengeance, particular riding both at night just before leaving the park. Both rides had spotlights everywhere, which is what likely drew the bugs.
I only went to cedar point once and this was my favorite ride there! The gatekeeper(?) Was a close second. I hope to go back sometime and ride again. Much better than six flags st louis
On a hot day, Millie runs at about 58 seconds and a cold day it runs about 64. That's from top of lift, until it hits the stationarys.
After a whole day of riding all the coasters at CP I hit millenium again for the last ride of the night.
Grayed out on the pull out after the first hill.
Never had this happen. I think it was a combination of being tired, beat up from other rides, and alcohol.

Was going to say that Steel Dragon 200 could also be called the first giga coaster, but it opened three months after.
The bugs have only been an issue for me once, most of the time I've been on it I have not encountered bugs.
I went to cedar point but I agree people were telling me it’s the best roller coaster ever but it really essential meeting my expectations.
Hopefully this lets some people know that you don't hate the ride.
Are you sure that you didn't think this ride was intense? I recently rode it twice, and both times I grayed out on the big over banked turn right after the drop. Is that just me?
I would say MF is my fave... I just love the way it feels like you are flying on this ride and the views are the best!! The only other giga I have ridden is Leviathan and its good but the view is of the parking lot...lol
I may go to Cedar Point during this summer and i think this coaster could be cooler if they had a proper theme. I mean, what is it themed to? TIME TRAVEL!

I don’t think it is overrated at all.. it’s all preference. However as far as rollercoasters go it’s the only ride at this intensity that I know of that allows everyone to experience. Steel vengeance/Maverick for example are amazing rides, but they can be disorienting. My parents cant ride them anymore because of this and I am slowly following in the footsteps. I greyed out and to me that’s not a good ride quality. Unfortunately I can’t control it. Millennium force is languid and smooth. It doesn’t try to toss and turn you out of your seat. For that reason it will always lie somewhere at the top for me. The pure speed start to finish and that drop are amazing attributes. Also nothing was more terrifying than waiting in that futurist line with a DJ and getting up to the station with that theme music. It’s just straight up the lift hill out of the station and you are teetering on the edge of the water. Maybe it’s cause I rode this early in my childhood but it will always be my favorite rollercoaster experience.
I havn't ridden Millenium Force yet, but I have ridden Leviathan at Canada's Wonderland and let me tell you. It is awesome! Hopefully I get to go on this one in the future.
I was at cedar point yesterday and rode millennium three times, one in front seat while it was raining, and it felt like needles😂

Kelvin Newkirk It is basically a half-half opinion. The enthusiasts who want a very intense and unique ride with insane transitions, Intimidator 305 is BY FAR the better ride, but because of Intimidator’s obscure intensity, not everyone is a huge fan of it, which is why lots of coaster enthusiasts actually like Millennium Force better. I have personally only ridden Millennium Force, but I believe that somebody like me would prefer a ride like Millennium Force because it is a longer ride, has a better location, it is the more iconic coaster, and it has better pacing. Maverick was definitely my favourite coaster in the park (that will definitely change when I go out to ride Steel Vengeance) because of the awesome launch, good intensity, long ride, and 2 awesome inversions, but I still loved Millennium Force. I wouldn’t say that it was forceless, I actually think that it had some very forceful moments, but I think someone like me would rather have a ride like Millennium Force. That is just my opinion though.
The intent of this ride was for it to be a futuristic modern ride for the beginning of the new millennium, as the did start building this in 1999.they took away that old fashion chain lift thing. It’s more like a quiet elevator lift. Listen I love this ride, this ride was great for the early 2000’s
I have ridden millennium countless times, cedar point is my home park. The bugs have never bothered me. Honestly, Maverick is worse when it comes to bug coverage
It’s so rough now! I rode in the back and it has like 3 good moments.
A morning ride in the front of the train gets 5 out of 10 stars, evening or night rides in the back gets 10 stars for me. It does lack the intensity of I305 but it has the same overall immensity and impact, it's just a little more gracious about it.
Does every ride have lockers? Wouldn't you have to rent a different Locker for each one
+Alexandra Chapman Only certain rides have lockers. Some have chests or bins at the station so you can toss your stuff in there as you get on and get them when you get off. Rides like Millennium and Dragster don't have bins because you get off at a different location then where you get on.
Some people rent the lockers for 8 hours so they have it all day. It's cheaper this way, BUT you have to walk all the way back to it when you need to grab something. The Millennium's lockers are not too bad (location wise) if you want to do this. They are kinda in the middle if the park.
If you want to walk around and have your stuff with you at all times, yes you do need to rent different lockers. Lockers can be found pretty much everywhere so finding one is easy!

I definitely believe that people get hit with bugs riding the coaster but I road it twice and both times I didn’t get any bugs. At night I rode in the front on rougarou and maverick and got a TON of bugs. Maybe because those rides were closer to the ground ?
TBH millennium is now kinda of under rated now cause it got so over rated haha
Cedar Point is my home park and I still agree with him to an extent. But I think saying it’s overrated is becoming overrated now to the point where people who haven’t even ridden it are saying that lol. Still one of my favorites of all time, but it absolutely does need that “oomph,” and I think the “fun” aspect of it is what draws so many coaster enthusiasts back.
I've ridden one of the last trains of the day during the summer before and the view of the sun going down into Lake Erie looks AMAZING from the lift hill. Only downside to my first night ride on it.....there were a ton of bugs on my shirt afterwards (a huge amount compared to the few that are around in the day). It would've made a good onride photo, but our train was stuck in the station for a while and I didn't get a chance to see the photo.

Exactly. Truly amazing to see the sun disappear on the horizon by the time we crested the lift hill. (Even if it was a very short period of time, due to MF's cable lift speed. LOL).
Haha! I totally agree with the bugs XD Like 5 years ago, my sister and I went on it in the front at around 9:00 and when we got off we had at least 20 bug all over our face and arms XD

The bugs are kinda funny I won’t lie specially when I’m with friends but at certain times the bugs kinda annoy me bc they keep getting in my eyes, nose, and mouth
I really experienced my first case of anticipointment with this coaster last year. It's fun...but nothing I would rave about.

ive been on both millennium and maverick. I prefer millennium because yeah its not as intense, but i can reride it many times without getting a headache
