This is hands down the best advice I've ever heard for overthinking in the aftermath of social situations. I meet a lot of new people in my job, and every night i go through hell wondering if i said or did the right/wrong thing. Thank you for this content. I'd love to buy your book, but it might raise some questions with my wife haha

It's wild how insanely similar the things you teach in this video are to what my NLP mentor teaches! I'm always fascinated by the similarities between CBT and proper NLP. I've also spent over 2 and a half years in the seduction community and 10 months in sales. I have roamed around sales, seduction, NLP, "charisma science," interrogation, negotiation, etc. Your communication advice is top-notch. There's no reinventing the wheel with good information. I'm excited to have found your channel!!!

The liking gap so far has been the most helpful. I’m very deeply out of my comfort zone but I’m trying to hold myself out there until my comfort zone grows.

i know a person with borderline personality disorder and she worries all the time that people might look at her and think bad things. as a result she only dares going outside of the house when she is in makeup and dress. i was wondering if those 4 things from the video could be used by her to soften that believe that she has to look flawless before leaving the house. i mean, it is some kind of overthinking, no?

Hi, thanks for watching and considering this! I think of these as psychological principles, so they can be applied more broadly. If you get good at doing these skills, it tends to help in a lot of different situations. So I would hope it might help your friend :)

@@DrThomasSmithyman Thank you. By the way, about a year ago, i watched several of your videos. Thanks to you describing the symptoms of social anxiety i realized, that many things i experience are social anxiety actually. So i became sensitized to detecting these symptoms in myself when they occur. Then just telling myself that these are symptoms of social anxiety i lost all social anxiety within a week or two. Now i have zero, but really zero social anxiety and my life has changed completely to the better. Now it doesnt matter if it is a board of directors, some strangers or some well known friends, it always feels good to talk with them.
Just recently i went with a few actors from a theater to a festival were we wanted to promote the theater to the guests. The actors were speculating who is the most extrovert amongst them. After a few minutes they all turned to me and said "hey man you are by far the most extrovert of us all" and i wasnt even trying to be extrovert. i was just having fun with the guests promoting the play. I can hardly believe i am the same person that used to hide in my parents cellar because i was too afraid and had no way of connecting to other people.
So thank you very much for your effort and the work you have done! it is a miracle!

Thank you, I really needed this video today!! Your videos make me feel like I don't have to navigate through things alone. I've heard before that if you could hear what people were really thinking, you'd realize how little they are thinking of you, because everyone is always thinking about themselves. My favorite people to hang out with are the ones who don't care what everyone thinks and says things like there are no rules. They seem to give me unspoken permission to be my authentic self. Maybe that's the trick to not take yourself so seriously and relax.

OK interesting. I don’t know much about competitive gaming. But if you find a link to someone describing what they’re going through in some detail, I’m happy to take a look and see if I can help

@RaZziaN1 Hey buddy, it's good that your're looking into the psychology of how your own mind works. Dr Thomas is a great psychologist, but lets not rely on him for hypotheticals out of his scope.
I personally think you're better off looking into the youtube channel HealthyGamerGG, lots of content revolving around gamers and psychology on that channel and it's more mainstream.
