I cut an old steel water tank in half around the circumference with a hammer and the side of a chisel when I had no idea. It worked OK but the first time I saw an affordable air chisel I bought it. Great tool.

You're doing exceptional work and making it up as you go, which is genius talent. A few tips to try out, use magnets on the paper or cardboard instead of tape when roughing in templates. Also grind a curve on the corners of the new sheet to prevent it blowing through and just spot each weld an inch apart. The heat from stitch welding will warp the panel and if you tried that on a door bottom or rocker panel you'll see what I mean. Love your work Scotty, always a pleasure to watch. Hope you and the family are well.

working on the floor sucks scotty ,theres 3 wheels and a door siting in the corner of the shed ill bet theres 3 more wheels to be found there somewhere why dont you make a table out of them ? love the tubs went together well . why do all utubers i watch not have a decent bench to work on ? its like they havent been invented yet

  • @tony66au

That Air chisel trick is old school Scotty, Before plasma cutters and reciprocal saws you'd have a few air chisels handy like 5 inch grinders today.
The awesome thing about the Air chisel is even good ones are cheap and if you are a TAVO like me you can use them with some basic fab to stretch panel steel or with a decent dolly create all sorts of carnage and best bit? No Sparks or grinder swarf/Plasma Slag.
BTW did you remember the Righty Loosy Lefty tighty when you dropped the back wheels off? Still gets me every time!

Hey Mate the only New steel we use when we mini tub say a Chevy Malibu wagon is the Spacer we install once we remove the inner wheel well the 3 or 4 inch center strip is usually the added width of our new miniTub we don't actually gain 4 inches more like 2 and a half but that the difference between only getting a 275 DR in the well and say a 315 ...

Great how to video on the rear tubs mate 👌🏼 its not perfect but its impressive, functional and BUILT NOT BOUGHT. 🙏🏼 love it 😍 im going to be attempting rear tubs in my 06 vz sedan soon. Will be rewatching this to use as reference during the modification 🤙🏼 then onto shaving and fabricating my engine bay to hide all the wiring, hardline etc so the blown and injected LS is front and center and not a clutted f@&k like a tradies ute tray. Will hopefully do a vlog on my vz L98 blown & injected custom build for burnouts, powercruise, summernats etc and post as i build it in the home garage myself. Should be fun

You’re a wizard with that air chisel Scotty! Good job man. I did Detroit speed mini tubs in my Firebird, they are more formed to fit so it was easier than those, but those work good for a one size fits all, I probably would have left a half inch of metal to use as a flange from the old tub on the inner quarter panel, then just used self tappers to fit it all in, but your finished product is good to go

    • @STREETMACHINETV
