I ran low 11s with a stock welded rear diff and about 500hp for years. Then I put on 10.5inch drag slicks on a prepped surface and it blew up instantly. I was running a manual box though. Might hold up better with an auto... maybe.
Great work mate, really good exposure for the Portland track, lots of volunteers down there making it happen, their facilities have really improved over the last few years. Great club that helps out others like the Casterton Street Drags for their annual event.
Scotty, Just 3 things I have to suggest . Please use that left over metal to put plates on the inside of the car. Those bolts Might pull through the floor, but some big arse plates in that gauge steel won't. As for the tyres, I think you need wider rims (8's or even 9's). The wheel can move horizontally inside the tyre, I've experienced this & it's not nice. Lastly, when folding over the wheel opening lips, your old friend the shifter is a good starting point. tighten the jaws up like you would for a bolt, then use the leverage to start folding the lip. Much kinder than the vise grips I used to use. Portland track looks a nice place to race, very casual & comfortable. The Trolvo seems to be a good car for some bracket racing, maybe that dashmat should be the first item removed in lightening the car.
Great build Scotty, however I am a little disappointed by the lack of shifter use in this film. You did make up for it with the technical adjustment of guard and tunnel. Thanks for the entertainment and inspiration.
That's very quick, I'm sure that whatever numbers you're going for No doubt, you will achieve. I am very jealous, and very happy for you guys, I have been following along since the beginning. I love it
What you need to do is get the driver rear shock slightly higher to shift the scale weight to the left front and have softer spring rate in the rear for transfer. Based on those weights IMO. Even a tab or 2 under the mount
Cracking video Scotty , been hanging to see the trolvo run. Let the boost games begin ! 40psi is a nice round number, might make a nice round hole somewhere but gotta have a go once fuel will support. Thanks again love the series !
damn should have run the old vacuum tee with the 1/8th hole hahaha adjust accordingly until 19psi she'll be plumb! You done some mighty fine driving anyway though scotty! well done man!
Mate that is an awesome build, cheap enough for most to achieve, hikes the front end with that perfect mix of sleeper and I'm going to punch out a number looks. Yeah I like. Really well driven and reaction times
You could have used the 2 bits off that loop that you cut off to pack the space between the loop arms. I also installed my loop on my chassis rail as I was afraid that in the event of a UJ failure, the floor might just rip out the bolts.
Scotty mate the floor pan is really light gauge steel compared to the tailshaft loop is so much heavier gauge steel it will need reinforcing the floor pan side if i were you?
All my cars had dash Matt’s like that We were always catching them or when you go around the corner you grab them to stop them flying out the window Trollope is going very well
Anybody got a link to the video of peter brock and the tail shaft letting loose? Cant remember it and can't find anything remotely close to it with a youtube search. Thanks guys!
I put one in my celica many moons ago.... lasted fine till I put the 1j in... 530rwhp, didn't get the 1st launch at the strip - all the teeth gone. 400ish rwhp seems to be ok.
Far out I hate those dashmats, I've owned a lot of 240s and I've never pulled a dash mat off and found anything other than a standard cracked dash underneath
I knew you were sandbagging, nice run with the 7.35 Scotty. Will the streets of Rocky be able to hold a 4800rpm launch? 🤔 Block and head are ready for building, just waiting on parts, then I gotta do this manifold. 😬
@@5533851 The very first thing I said in my very first episode was this: "What the f**k am I thinking, I'm gonna get destroyed here!" 🤣 Scotty knows what I'm bringing to the table, just enough to be competitive. 😎👍

As I'm watching Scotty "take boost out" I'm wondering does Scotty know to which way to turn that to reduce the boost? And lo and behold it seems he didn't.
The trolvo has evolved into an absolute weapon. Impressed
The dash mat made me laugh
that dashmat though 😆
to be fair, the adhesion is probably appropriate for 99.99% of volvo owners :D
Been there done that.
Scotty ends up wearing the dash mat and immediately proclaims, "Jesus Chroist!"
i feel like some liquid nails would have slovered that problem
Strewth Moite😂
She did really well for having bugger all shakedown and being light on fuel delivery.
Nice simple combo works every time!

Its probably the best 1/8th mile track in Australia. We love racing there.

30 psi trolvo coming soon 😍
Pretty promising results for its first decent run down the strip Scotty. it’s only the beginning the best is yet to come from this beast
100% we're really happy for it's first outing. It has the potential to be the quickest car in our workshop.
Impressive results with the new gearbox. Loved seeing air under that tire! Let the ECU handle the boost, please!
Yep, mac valve going in soon
@@STREETMACHINETV Scott, Please detail the install for us wannabe racers!

We put thick plates above the floor plan. It wont pull through.

Would be cool to see Kian race it.
See how he does.
That will happen
Well done Scotty, all that hard work is finally paying off. Once you get some fuel pumps it will be a Rocket.

thx scotty for the episode.

Great to see the performance after the loops this car has thrown you. Inspired to get my own 1UZ 240 up and running now👍
Nicely done boys, up the mighty trolvo
Thanks for the video today.
Great work Scotty. Now give it all the boost..
Are you using a test light for a scriber, well I suppose it sure beats using a flat head screwdriver. Keep up the good work.
What year did Brocky have the tailshaft issues? I remember when he broke one on the start line, but don't recall one breaking down Conrod.
1993 John Cleland was at the wheel at the time.
Scotty mate the floor pan is really light gauge steel compared to the tailshaft loop is so much heavier gauge steel it will need reinforcing the floor pan side if i were you?
Reinforcing plates were added topside.
Good stuff Scotty.
Wah..wah..wah...lol..love the work Scotty
'Tar sharf lube' Heck, thought he was about to rustproof the floor!
Also, for the brave ones take a sip every time he says: Tail shaft loop 🍻 👍

Haha the old bang-go diffs 😂
You could break them diffs with the stock red motor 😆
This is like watching Chip Foose build a car
Haha, exactly the same
Great job Scotty!
That Swedish Meatball is SPICY!!! 🌶️🇸🇪
What happened to just a bit of decent chain welded is that not allowed any more.
When's the trolvo getting a electronic boost controller?
It’s a bad buy mate. the v8s are killing it
LOL
Well done Scotty
That last launch was epic! Do you have a 2-step at all? I'd work on getting it set up with the transbrake just to make it easier on things.
On the future mods list
Far out I hate those dashmats, I've owned a lot of 240s and I've never pulled a dash mat off and found anything other than a standard cracked dash underneath
Is the boost tee, that reliable? Could you use a more reliable and consistent boost controller?
Yeah electronic control will be installed soon.
Let’s hope there’s nothing important up there 😂
Just close your eyes, and Brrrrttt 👌
2:54 "It's hammer time!" I can't touch this.
Hey Scotty love your content, what was the best 60 ft on the day?
Only a 1.72 but that was on the low boost setting
This will be trending soon 😋

Dana 30 diff. Check earlier episodes. 👍
Yeah, Dana 30 but we're looking at replacement options but high rpm launches are going to lower the lifespan of this diff dramatically.
are you also considering welding the chassis rails to the body? to increase the strength now you're lifting wheels?
Ohh 10s before taxi....now that's going to be controversial! Haha, plans on going electronic boost control? Keep up the cracking work Scotty!!
Electronic boost control is coming up. Already got the bits

Not yet, but again it's on the list of things to do

As I'm watching Scotty "take boost out" I'm wondering does Scotty know to which way to turn that to reduce the boost? And lo and behold it seems he didn't.
We later found a boost line had come off. So it basically had all the boost and went to 28psi
Weld stand on the piece with holes in it and you will have a plug holder
This is only an 8th mile track/event yeah?
Correct
So how many high performance dash mats have been sent to Scotty?!
Zero so far
When dash mats attack
So, the loop "kit" ended up being really expensive flat bar.... 🙄🤣
Yeah basically, but not that expensive so I'm not that worried.
It is the thought that counts.
Just like the 6 bolt holes per side.
Probably think about upgrading the coils too scotty they have a tendency of cracking.
Yeah, we're looking at that
I replaced 2 sets of coils because of misfire pretty costly i ended up using shrink rap around them lol
Wasn't it Johnny Clealand who experienced the tail shaft.
