For everyone comparing this to Dracula. It is not. The Nosferatu vampire is only driven by hunger. To essentially feed on blood. It cannot walk in the sunlight or be anywhere near it. In fact that alone will kill it. It also has no desire to change humans into vampires. Simply to kill them to satiate it's hunger. It has limited telekinetic powers compared to Dracula. Dracula on the other hand is far more suave taking on many different forms from a handsome human to an animal when need be. He also wants to expand his army by changing humans into vampires. He is far more powerful in his abilities to overcome his victims. From mind speaking to stares of persuasion. Noferatu relies on rats to spread his disease. The bite from his fangs is typically lethal and kills rather than transforms. He's a walking infection. So those are some of the main differences between the two.
Let's also put it this way. Gary Oldman's depiction of Dracula was probably THE BEST that we will ever see. It completely showed all of the various aspects of what makes Dracula so powerful. From leading armies, to changing into a monster. Where as Bill Skarsgard will probably bring forth the best depiction of Nosferatu film has ever seen.
Gary Oldman's Dracula, beyond the visual flair, was pathetic. a weepy romantic who captured none of the oppressive tyranny of the book in terms of his characterization. That film made such a major mistake in trying to humanize him in such a silly Hollywood way. Klaus Kinski's Nosferatu is humanized in a much more compelling way that never betrays the monstrousness of the character.
Gary Oldman's Dracula was romanticised. Like Frank Langella. But it was a brilliant and in my opinion superior Dracula character. However, I think Christopher Lee was most like the original character. Just because he was faithful to the animalistic presence Dracula held. He refused to speak in all but one, and didn't want to make more than two because he thought they had lost the feeling. He is definitely the scariest, he ended up making many more though so the film crew got paid. Sweet man.@@_Azagoth_
man...talk about oppressive darkness. Loved how nosferatu was seen allllll the way in the foreground simply as a silhouette and doesnt say a damn thing to welcome his 'guest'. COLD
But Coppola is probably still better by far this one looks so pretty to look at but with no substance and that’s telling by a clip alone let alone the trailers that show us everything lol
I don’t expect this movie to scare me. The only vampire story that’s ever truly scared me both in print and on screen is Stephen King’s “Salem’s Lot.” I guess what I’m really expecting from this is the character development involved in a story about evil’s origin and motivation to corrupt innocence. And what people go through when facing this evil and how it changes them for better or worse, depending on who they are. It’s a nice plus if I get scared, but I won’t be disappointed if I’m not. I’m pretty sure it will still be interesting. Looking forward to it!
Nosferatu 1922: Hutter meets/gets greeted directly by Orlok before reaching the castle doors. Nosferatu 1979: Harker meets/gets greeted by Dracula directly as the Castle Doors open. Nosferatu 2024: Hutter enters the Castle without directly encountering Orlok. 3 Versions, 3 Introductions
The original Nosferatu (1922) was an illegal bootleg of Dracula! They couldn't get the film rights so they changed the names and locations around a bit. The version became so famous it took on a whole life of its own, and here we are a century later!
Defoe is the only reason I would even remotely want to see this.. I know it's gonna be another let down and it's gonna be sht just like every movie now adays
I haven’t seen the movie yet but I can’t help but be a little disappointed that Robert Pattinson isn’t in this film and specifically in Hoults role… especially since a bunch of other people from eggers films have returned
I cant see shit, filmed in a cave at nite sure cuts down on the effects budget, throw in some weird music and shadows, you got a vampire movie in there somewhere.
I want to see this film as I’m vampire mad and love the original Nosferatu as well as Stokers book but casting Willem Defoe doesn’t do it for me. He’s too well known and takes you out of character - he is a caricature of himself. Plus can any Dracula make a girl wet like Gary Oldman?
These scenes don't evoke fear or eeriness to me. The 1922 film does it for me. Don't overdo tension, don't make scenes so long and dull. Make them look like the are happening in real life.
You can say the original is a masterpiece without lying and saying a 100 year old silent movie scares you but a movie that isn't even out yet doesn't scare you. This movie brings out the pretentious movie snobs.
If this movie is all about dark scenes with shadows and all without blood and gore, just some lazy jump scares and long talking well... this it will not be my cup of tea
Maybe I will watch this on television, but this version will not beat the real and original masterpiece from 1922 and this Orlok actor can´t even hold a candle for the real Nosferatu Max Schreck.
So Orlok doesn't greet Harker? Just turns around? Well, that obviously puts the movie in the dumb bin. Harker can't enter the castle now. Apart from being stupidly drawn out, eggers cocked up the entry badly didn't he. Every bit I've seen of these promos theres been good bits, and then what the heck was the director thinking?
skarsgard doesn't have the right facial features for a vampire nor did he have the right facial features for "IT" HE HAS wierd juvenile facial features nothing MASCULINE ABOUT HIS FACE AT ALL😕😕
Saw an early screening last week. All of the sequences in the castle are top tier and make this the best version of the Dracula tale EVER.
🦇
Nosferatu is not Dracula; it is the German re-telling
@@pugilemoltobene3708 it is essentially an adaptation of Dracula and the original was sued as such, lol.
Was there any jump scares? I know it’s not usually Eggers thing but I hate them haha
@ very good. Most ppl don’t know that - they think it’s all Dracula - this ‘telling’ of the story was considered a rip, stolen.
The tone!!! The ambiance!!The music/sound effects..... I'm in love
Ditto.

@@tomtalker2000 well said.
It is quite literally the same story as Dracula
@@1neOfN0nebuilt around a totally different character, as stated. What's your point ?
@BUKUDI totally different??? You mean slightly different, right?
Words have meaning
@@BUKUDI if the character was totally different, the Bram Stroker estate wouldn't have won the copyright infringement settlement

Thought I was the only fan of the Gary Oldman Dracula film. I haven't found or bothered to watch any other Dracula film since .
Gary Oldman’s Dracula was the real Dracula. I bet Eggers understands the story more than Coppola.
Speak for yourself
I was expecting a bloodborne boss to appear
The sound design, cinematography, and atmosphere. Holy shit.
How did this get snubbed for sound?
Awesome, I know! Even the light snowflakes coming down in front of that brown coffin, awesome ambiance.
Orlok walking off after Thomas bowed to him that's dead funny 😂💀 I 🖤 it
First Version where Harker/Hutter doesn't get directly greeted by Dracula/Orlok.
And it is much eerier and more foreboding this way.
I have a feeling they’ll keep him hidden in the shadows for 90% of the time until hutter finds him in his coffin
man...talk about oppressive darkness. Loved how nosferatu was seen allllll the way in the foreground simply as a silhouette and doesnt say a damn thing to welcome his 'guest'. COLD
“Hutter, meet count Orlok” ~ F.W Murnau in shadow of the vampire
Now i know what I'm doing Christmas day 😂
Will this movie make me keep my bedroom lights ON for a week?
I hope so.
Yes! Everything about this. Just yes!!!
Nosferatu clapping them cheeks with a vengeance
This certainly has the potential to be the film of the decade, as Coppola's version of Dracula was in the Nineties of the past century
But Coppola is probably still better by far this one looks so pretty to look at but with no substance and that’s telling by a clip alone let alone the trailers that show us everything lol
Dracula is so camp
Oldman was awesome in that role.
Eggers and his atmospheres!
The chills come to me. Maybe with sweat. And maybe with a little blood

Possibly one of the most terrifying horror movies in recent years.
Omg this looks epic!
I can't wait until this comes out in theaters tomorrow. I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Huh? He just met Orlok in the scene. He bowed politely and Orlok just walked away.
Nosferatu 2039: Hutter meets Orlok in a zoom meeting.

This dude needs to direct a live action Castlevania or Bloodborn movie
Such a Lovely Christmas movie.
ghosts & monsters have always been a part of this time of year..
Fun fact: This is NOT a Christmas Rom-Com.
Orlock looks like Stoker's Dracula. ❤❤❤❤
Two different films completely
@pugilemoltobene3708 I agree. I wish this movie was based on Stoker's novel.
@@christopherseat9871it’s based on a 1920’s rip off.
Nosferatus can be consider the Father of creating "Dracula". Nosferatus is the first Vampire of all times. Can't wait to see it.
Bravo lily rose depp your an amazing actress 🎉
EZ
From Renfield to Hutter (Harker).
It seemed very similar to Bram Stroker's Dracula. Is it new rendition of the same story?

Something to get your theet into this Christmas.
freaking epic amazing
Movie is 100% not scary at all, atmosphere is great though.
109 years ago the original film was released. This look more terrifying version than the silent film!!
I got chills
Can't wait!
Reminds me of Dracula 1992, yep let's go 👍👍🤟🤟
So good.
Uh-oh they’re already releasing clips of the movie. That’s not a good sign.
Something about this movie.
Cannot wait
Potaoes Potatos, no lawsuitatos
Not comparing it to anything. No intention of seeing it. Too much hoopla.
Yes, but is he a friend we made along the way?
Why on Christmas?
Because Hollywood is run by the devil. As such, it hates Christ.
Should’ve neen a silent scene
Looks like every other vampire movie
Christmas with the Kranks 2

Working on Batman 2?
So dark
there was so many other movies to redo, why would you keep doing the same movie over and over...
It needed to be done LIKE THIS!
Infinite, I guess i win.
The American audience won't get this. No jump scares every 2 seconds.

I think it was designed to evoke dread, which imho, it does.
Oh yeah sure the 1922 silent film does it for you but not this. Whatever
Dude the original is a masterpiece. The whole setting did not rely on any flashy effects or new techniques to create the vibe.

On Orlok's kill list.
What?
So Orlok doesn't greet Harker? Just turns around?
Well, that obviously puts the movie in the dumb bin. Harker can't enter the castle now.
Apart from being stupidly drawn out, eggers cocked up the entry badly didn't he.
Every bit I've seen of these promos theres been good bits, and then what the heck was the director thinking?
He does greet Hutter, just not directly.
this is not Orlok.
@jturner2577 but he has to greet Harker directly. Harker cannot enter Dracula's domain freely and of his own will. Dracula has to invite him in.
@Dagaz_art okay, I guess you've seen the movie. However, Harker still can't enter the Castle.
I think in this version it says it on WhatsApp
Third, I guess
Please dont dissapoint us, the world is expecting the movie of the century, and a character like Heath Ledgers Joker.
Robert Eggers hasn't disappointed us yet.
This isn't batman it's Dracula 😂hope it's better then bram stoker's it kinda feels like the same theme a women a man hmmm😅
Когда вижу в кадре лицо Лили Роуз Депп , то автоматически не воспринимаю кино всерьез. Я не знаю почему такой эффект..(
skarsgard doesn't have the right facial features for a vampire nor did he have the right facial features for "IT" HE HAS wierd juvenile facial features nothing MASCULINE ABOUT HIS FACE AT ALL😕😕

Dumb. Why would a vampire or clown have to look masculine?
