The 392 Challenger is on the top of my list. It’s what got me into cars. Camaro SS is a somewhat close second. I was straining to see forward in it. Nice raspy sound though. I really don’t like the 5.0’s sound. When I think of American V8, I think of: Pushrod, 16 valve, big displacement V8 that revs up to 6500 at most. I don’t think of DOHC, 32 valve, flat plane crank, small displacement V8 that revs to the moon. I would normally associate that with a European V8 (or the 2UR-GSE).
@@ghengisswanson3923 What kinda handling, very few owners relatively go to the track where that matters. Most people are running at drag strips, red lights or highway pulls. Pick two(Comfort, straight line speed, handling)... only 2 of those are truly important for most conditions on the road.

Yeah, Dodge is really kickin ass with this car. Def. stays true to the muscle car roots, unlike the mustang/camaro. Very cool car, I like that they're in their own little place, not the dick waving sports car competition of the other 2.
Something else worth noting that you couldn't know; it's very safe. I'm a medic & firefighter, & I've responded to a few wrecks with challengers and they resist intrusion into the passenger compartment very well. I also have personal experience- in 2011 in my wife's SE I got lightly T-bone at an intersection I was transiting when somebody jumped the light. No injury, light damage to the passenger door and the airbag deployed. October 2022 my SRT8 got T-bond and totaled. The vehicle that got me right on the beep pillar was traveling at highway speed as I was accelerating from a stop. If I had been on duty when that tune dropped I would've expected the driver of the vehicle that was struck to be dead or have severe injuries. thanks to modern engineering the driver that hit me was just shook up and had a couple of minor bruises, I had to be extricated but the lateral/transverse structural member designed to resist intrusion did its job extremely well. The driver door was shoved in about 10 cm which forced my elbow to break a few ribs, and the lateral energy transfer caused for pelvic fractures. The energy of a little over a ton of a mass traveling at highway speed also caused coup & counter coup resulting in a minor subdural haematoma. Despite the fractures and the brain bruise I was out of the hospital in a couple of days! 😁 That red one is OK, but it doesn't stand out like my yellow with the bumblebee stripe! Do you know when you come out of the store and you can't remember where you parked? *_I don't have that problem!_* 😂 and counter crew I was out of the hospital in a couple of days!

Good review Matt, I lost it when you nailed the throttle the first time and lit up the tires hahaha! These cars are so fun, I have a 2015 Scat Pack Shaker and I absolutely love it. Mine is the manual and it's so much fun to shift with that 392 HEMI roaring under the hood. Not sure if you're aware but you can get leather and perforated suede seats in the Scat Pack if you option the Scat Pack appearance group which adds a bunch of extra cool touches to the car. Cloth seats are standard. In regards to pricing, one thing to consider when comparing it to the Mustang and Camaro is that it's a larger car so it makes sense that it's more expensive. I know both of them handle better than the Challenger due to being smaller and lighter but like you said in the video, the Challenger is by far the most useable car out of all of them. Mine is pretty well loaded and cost $49k which sounds like a lot at nearly the price of the SRT, but he Shaker is a $4,500 option and I don't have the Technology group or the automatic trans. The Shaker is worth every penny haha. The size does take some getting used to but it just has such a great old school muscle car feel to it. One way to improve the handling is the put a strut tower bar in it, I did and it made a big difference in the responsiveness of the steering. It's not a canyon carver, but it definitely feels more eager around turns. Check out my videos of it!
I watched this video like 3 times before I pulled the trigger on my Scatpack, one thing I cant tell you is the car gets really good gas mileage on the highway I took mine in a 1000 miles trip and it got 29 mpg and the car is very VERY comfortable. The other thing is, Matt isn't joking about those ticket pockets. It does 0-speeding ticket in about 5 seconds so get ready to have the judge tell you he is already bored of seeing you in court tryinf to dismiss tickets.
I just bought Challenger Scat Pack exactly same color but with leather and scar pack appearance package (: and I am in freaking love!!! specially after honda fit LOL but my milage is like 11 mpg XD
Great review. Excellent audio quality. This may have been mentioned already, but just one minor correction. Yes, the Scat Pack is a low to mid 12 second 1/4 mile car, but trap speed is in the 112-116 MPH, not ~123 MPH.
I had an opportunity to drive 2015 challenger v6 for just over a month while my 16 WRX was in the shop. My conclusion was it takes time to get used to, by the end of second week I didn't mind the blind spots, automatic transmission is little rough in manual mode, v6 was very impressive as far as performance and fuel economy hwy driving was well over 34mpg. Great infotainment system, not a single time I had to manually reconnect my phone, WRX always drops my connection. Overall it's a great car, I will definitely consider this after my lease is up.

I DO love your channel. It's very interesting hearing your remarks especially being probably 25 years ahead of you. Still the best auto vlog on you tube
9:15 Those are great stats, but another one that I find surprising despite having owned 2011 SRT8, 2013 RT Blacktop and now 2017 RT scat pack is how good on gas these things are! As long as I don't graft the foot feed to the firewall, I average 22 to 23 mpg as a 55 mile daily driver. On a long highway cruise *I get 30 mpg with the eco-mode off and 35 mpg with it on!*
I been waiting for this review. The interior gets better in the Scat pack. I had the red seude and black leather. I traded in my Scat pack for Hellcat, and in all honesty I miss my Scat pack at times. Its a wild/fun car to drive. It feels like a true muscle car. The Hellcat is almost to refined. That Bilstein suspension in the scat is stiff and gives you that wild fun. Your reviews are consistent, you always bring out the best in the cars.
THE OKOI FAMILY CHANNEL so is not a huge difference between the scatpack or the hellcat as an acceleration n speed ect.. im trying to get a scatpack. Lol
Your reviews are very well done. I like how you describe the nuances that one does not get unless we test drive ourself and even then, may not pick up the details you note.
This is what a muscle car is suppose to do, it might not be the absolute fastest, or the best handling car on the streets, but when u really get into it and it makes you giddy like a little girl, that's what it's all about... Having something that is a thrill to drive...
this car is like a lion, with one rev of the accelerator the car goes bonkers its mad! its a car that enlightens ur mood and self esteem. the roar of this car when driving at high rpms keeps ur heart pumping during a long highway cruise. its just a masterpiece of a car. no other car can emulate the looks the features the sound and the sheer power it has in front of its hood! a high recommendation to buy one.. HELL YEAH!!
You know, I've watched this video several times. First time was when I first bought my scat pack shaker. Most the issues you had with the car are easily remedied with available options. Both my challengers I had/have had blind spot monitoring and the suede leather seats. I have rarely seen just the cloth seats on a Scat Pack. Most scat packs have the options I just mentioned. Yes, the size is big and is a little hard to get use too. Both my challengers had the manual transmission, so any transmissions issues you mentioned could just be fixed with the terrific Tremec transmissions. Hope you are still loving your Mustang Bullit!
Great review bro very informative & detailed also yu showed us the drive 👌😁👍👍✌this is probably the best review of a scat pack that ive seen, now i gota check out some of your other cars you've reviewed.
Great review man! I've been watching your vids for almost 2 years now and I can say you are my favorite car reviewing UA-camr. I love your acceleration reactions😂 keep up the good work Matt
Regarding the jerkiness of the transmission when coming to a stop: this is a known issue of the transmission control module. If anyone has bought a 2016+ model with the automatic (A8), you need to take it to the dealer tech, and ask for the software update (TCM reflash). This will fix the 2-1 as well as the 6-5 decel bumps leading to the jerkiness. My T/A 392 suffered from the same problem. Great review!
i am at the 0.37 second in to the video i have to pause it and write this comment perfect intro so far by any channel i follow you are killing it matt thank you buddy
Ok, if you are watching this it is probably because you are thinking of buying a used one. I upgraded to this car after owning a 2013 R/T and I absolutely love it. Let me clarify a few things he said that may concern you and give a little advice. As for the fuel mileage, it is not as bad as he says because he definitely hot dogged it the week he had it. I am 59 years old so I don't always drive as if it's my last day on earth. I average between 17.8 to 18.5 city and once you get to learn the transmission you can figure out when to let off of the gas and let the engine drop to 4 cylinders which it does automatically as long as it is not in the sport mode. He seems to have driven it a great deal in the sport mode keeping all eight running which I completely understand because it is so much fun. Driving from Charleston, S.C. to Philli., PA. twice a year I always got around 22.8 to 23. 3 miles to the gallon which I think is great for having such a powerful car. As for the size of the tires, yes they are too small and there is a lot of wheel spin and I often spin them when not even trying. With that being said it does make it a bit more fun when you want to play around. You can get a bit larger tire but my research tells me that getting a 305 on this car is highly NOT recommended. The only advice I would give is in reference to the C pillar and the very limited visibility. Make sure that you buy this car with the blind spot sensors witch alerts you with an optional ( you can turn it on or off ) audible warning as well as a yellow caution warning in your side mirror if anyone is in your blind spot. I absolutely would not want one without this option. NOT SAFE! Also, if you are 6'2 like me and you can't decide between the other muscle cars like the Mustang or the Camaro and you're torn between what to get, then I have to say that you will be much happier with all the room the larger Challengers offers. He is right about the back seat, my passengers comment on how comfortable they are with plenty of leg room. All in all, I love this car and so will you.
Been waiting a good while for this review, glad it's finally out! I can definitely echo that's a big car, but it's also one of the aspects I love about it. It's so much more roomy, I can actually fit people, and can stick tons of crap in the trunk (great for road trips). The size takes getting used to but I think it's worth it. I'd also recommend getting blind spot monitoring and the rear view camera (which is standard on the Scat Pack). Didn't want it initially but my car came with it and I'm glad I have it. The stock exhaust is also the best to ever come out of a factory, I wouldn't change a thing.
Drove an srt 392 hemi at the Bondurant Race School and oh man, that thing actually handles 10x more than you would expect. With 285 goodyear tires it was amazing. Just enough power and it actually felt better than the hellcat around the track. The automatic is also not a joke for sure...
I have the 2015 Scat.. yes I totally agree the automatic transmission can jerk you around a lot as if it was manual. I live in the SF Bay area so driving it in this traffic can be tricky. Having said that, I LOVE MY CAR! VROOOOOM!
Very cool review once again, man! I love the hell out of these cars. I noticed at 11:56, you compared the transmission to GM's 8 speed and the ZF 8 speed transmission, and said it was right up there with the ZFs. I believe the TorqueFlite IS a ZF transmission, correct me if I'm wrong though, lol.
Some others have said that too. I think it is a ZF transmission but I think Dodge did some tweaks to it to rename it TorqueFlite. Either they improved the downshifts or the other ZF equipped cars I've driven didn't have the latest version.
I would like to add to my previous comment. This car has more than 485 hp. While coming back from a Darlington race one night I found myself on a newly paved straight as an arrow country road around 1 in the morning and wanted to see what it really had. I told my friend to watch the telemetry and tell me when it shows 500hp and I will let off the gas if and when it did. It did hit the 500 and I backed off. Does it have more than 500hp? I don't know, but one day when I get a chance I will find out.
The other negative I see is the gas cap only needs an 1/8 of a turn to lock/unlock. I've had twice a check engine light on due to the gas cap coming off loose. Agree with the Blind Spot Monitoring is a must. I learned to live without it though by leaning forward while checking the right side mirror, accelerating also helps eliminate what you missed checking on your side. I also position the passenger seat so it does not block the small window. Left side is no problem.
Great review Matt! I came from a wrx last car and love my bigger sized charger scat pack. I've had all different sized cars and I kind of like the room of a big sedan/truck more myself. It can be a little daunting in tight drive through but aside from that its wonderful. These do have the ZF 8 speed auto trans. You can also adjust the steering feel in sport mode if you prefer the lighter normal feel, theres 3 settings. Great vid again! If you are ever in Southern CA and want to drive the charger scat on the streets, hit me up. :) Keep up the great vids!
Revisiting this video in 2021. Still a fair review of the car after all this time. Just paid off my 16 with75,000 fun and reliable miles on it. Also the car is much more stable with wider rear tires…..
Absolute best of muscle car options. Camaro is great but ugly as sin, and Mustang is absolutely the most boring sports car I've ever driven in my life with a terrible interior. Challenger is just so much fun I'm glad I got one over the other two. Plum crazy, six speed manual with scat appearance group. So many looks and just a blast to drive. The sound it makes alone was enough to make it way more enjoyable than the others.
Our 2015 Scat-Pack has the leather/suede seats, sun roof, premium sound, ect.... Even fully loaded it was still about 9,000 dollars less than then the SRT
7:44 *Rear visibility is only good if you have x-ray vision. For things that are directly behind you, it's OK but the blind spots off your left and right shoulders are reminiscent of tanks. The porthole quarter window is too small for decent visibility while the B & C pillars are in the way.*
5:58 🤣 *The backseat is a shelf for small children and groceries and luggage only! It's like flying sardine in the airline of your choice economy class. Since he is 5 foot nine he's able to pull the seat up far enough for somebody of similar size to sit in the backseat with a smidgen of legroom. At 6 foot two, this is one of the few cars I can actually put the seat just a little too far back, but it is almost all the way back and there's no room for anybody back there.*
Coming out of a pick up truck driven for the last 10 years I'm thinking that I wouldn't be missing any of the benefits of Camaro/mustang if I were to go to Challenger SRT-8?
Parker mocked you recently, however it is the finest form of flattery. Goodluck and time to call the Porker out! Lets get ready to RRRRRrrrrrruuuumble!
very nice. a real 4 adult car. I respect the rear air for passengers that is considerate. I had 10 camaro V6 and 09 stang GT. the challenger is best looking and better quality and comfort.
I have test driven and sat in more than one Scat Pack and the base seats are rather uncomfortable. You are better off springing for the upgraded suede seats which seemed more plush. Were you disappointed it wasn't a manual Matt? I have tried out both the manual and automatic and although the 8 speed seemed to shift rather quickly I found the manual more fun.
It would have been nice if it was a manual but I didn't mind. I drove the manuals at the Dodge track day last year so I already had a pretty good idea of how the manuals felt.

One of the better reviews. Some good observations others missed. Thanks
finally!!!!! haven't even made it passed the ad I'm already excited thanks for the uploads you the man !!!!!
By far, your best work on an intro! Timing the bass drop with the engine start up was awesome! Keep it up!
HELL YEAH!!
You deserve way more subscribers than what you have. You're reviews are so down to earth and helpful I love it man. 👌🏼👌🏼
A few days ago I saw a challenger r/t with a hellcat badge, smh lol
Angryeddie14 that triggers my loins when I see that
William upbadgers smh
Fake it till you make it 🙏🏽
Excellent review, it's rare to see someone not afraid of listing out their complaints.
Great review! Will be watching this until I get my own! Keep it comin bro!
Such boat, much weight, many horsepower
Exactly what a muscle car is
Averagejake96 the whole point of a muscle car
Averagejake96 doge challenger
WOW
What's up everybody subudux fan here
SUPER DUCKS!

Abbuud Jb yes
Great review bro very informative & detailed also yu showed us the drive 👌😁👍👍✌this is probably the best review of a scat pack that ive seen, now i gota check out some of your other cars you've reviewed.
Great review man! I've been watching your vids for almost 2 years now and I can say you are my favorite car reviewing UA-camr. I love your acceleration reactions😂 keep up the good work Matt
Thanks Kameron, I'm glad you like them!
Great review!
i am at the 0.37 second in to the video i have to pause it and write this comment
perfect intro so far by any channel i follow
you are killing it matt thank you buddy
bekir kurt he sucks
Nice video!! Can you try to do a charger scat pack or SRT 392.
Awesome Review Matt! I watched all 20:22
I waited for this reaction for the last two weeks, was it worth it? Hell yeah!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!
"a little net here to store your tickets..." haha love it
8:20 for the famous "lets turn on this back road" clip
Drove an srt 392 hemi at the Bondurant Race School and oh man, that thing actually handles 10x more than you would expect. With 285 goodyear tires it was amazing. Just enough power and it actually felt better than the hellcat around the track. The automatic is also not a joke for sure...
Nobodies reviews are more fun to watch. You feel like you're in the car with you!!! Thanks!!!
I have the 2015 Scat.. yes I totally agree the automatic transmission can jerk you around a lot as if it was manual. I live in the SF Bay area so driving it in this traffic can be tricky. Having said that, I LOVE MY CAR! VROOOOOM!
sarahrose74 - Just got my '17 ScatPack in Destroyer Grey w/275s two weeks ago. Amazing ride.
Enjoy!
Hoping to upgrade from my older rt. It's nice to see that at least someone is still making muscle cars.
Either they improved the downshifts or the other ZF equipped cars I've driven didn't have the latest version.
i 've been waiting for this. great video Matt
Thanks Matt! great review!. I was waiting on this one
Loved the video! The perfect reaction to the backroad!
Revisiting this video in 2021. Still a fair review of the car after all this time. Just paid off my 16 with75,000 fun and reliable miles on it. Also the car is much more stable with wider rear tires…..
Owned a Challenger for 4 years, the size is always a "feature", never truly escapes the back of your mind.
When he turned into that back road... pure joy
Camaro*
Danny Contreras thanks! I knew it looked wrong when I was writing that! fixt
No prob :D
Completely agree.
Another great review Matt! Thanks for what you do!
I have the 15 Challenger R/T manual and I average 23mpg. I can get up to 35mpg highway with drafting and easy on the throttle.
Our 2015 Scat-Pack has the leather/suede seats, sun roof, premium sound, ect.... Even fully loaded it was still about 9,000 dollars less than then the SRT
Must be something good about it ,same sheet metal for ten years straight and still a top seller
Had a chance to test drive one of these awesome muscle car, very fast for the majority of drivers on the road.
That Dodge Challenger Scat Pack looks nice man and it's a big for Mr.B.
Challenger is bad ass looking
one of the best "lets turn onto this back road" 's yet
"I love muscle cars" and I love your freaking review. I liked this review.
Awesome Review! Love the sound of this thing.
8:20 acceleration. Nice wheelspin :D
i have a 14 challenger and love it, the size thing for me wasnt a big deal but ive drove alot reg cab long bed trucks
Love the scat packs, that 8 speed kicks ass. See if you can get your hands on the charger version with leather seats!
Hands down the best sounding stock American car exhaust.
That good ole volume knob sucks for anyone that has a persistent shoulder problems, so in this case the Steering buttons are much nicer.
thanks for the review awesome as always. note: no way is that car doing 123 in the quarter-mile. I think they spec it at like 110ish
11:50. FYI Matt the transmission is not up there with the ZF 8 speed because it IS the ZF 8 speed.
Coming out of a pick up truck driven for the last 10 years I'm thinking that I wouldn't be missing any of the benefits of Camaro/mustang if I were to go to Challenger SRT-8?
Challengers are nice I like how they kept it with a true old school muscle car look, but I've always favored the chargers more.
It's a ZF-Sachs 258 mm twin-disc clutch . Come on Matt.
Mr. Hitdat71 it is a zf but not a twin disk.
Im about to get this one in a lease. Challenger is my fav american muscle car.
Parker mocked you recently, however it is the finest form of flattery. Goodluck and time to call the Porker out! Lets get ready to RRRRRrrrrrruuuumble!
I remember back in september i asked for this and you said in october Thanks !
The scatpack/392 does not run close to 123mph in the 1/4 mile, typically more like 112-115 depending on conditions.
very nice. a real 4 adult car.
