Muscle cars don't get any more traditional than a #Dodge #Challenger. With horsepower ranging from a rental car grade 300 ponies, all the way up to the insane 797 from the Hellcat Redeye, there is simply a Challenger for everyone. Those of you looking to stay in the middle should consider the #ScatPack with its 392 cubic inch N/A V8 with 485 ponies. Now offered in the $6,000 wide body package, it represents the goldilocks of the Challenger lineup.

@Atlantean ur gonna need at least 315 slicks rear that are heated up to the max to handle the insane torque that the demon engine makes. But a scatpack really is the sweetspot of the challengers and chargers. The hellcat, redeye, and demon can be daily driven. But ur gonna need hesvy restraint on your right foot and a big chunk of cash for gas n tires

I know this may be the sweet spot in terms of useable power, but the eargasmic SC whine of the hellcat is what really turns me on.

Mr dark man don’t forget the cost of brakes. Hellcat rotors are expensive, seems about $900 EACH for oem fronts, and around $500 for aftermarket.

In Fourteen years, I have rarely responded to a UA-cam videos until now. I currently own several Dodge vehicles, among them a 2015 Challenger Hellcat, a 2019 Challenger Shaker, a 2017 RAM and a 2017 Dodge Dart. All the vehicles are incredible values and well thought out. I also consider myself an avid fan of ALL Vehicles, and I would never use words or phrases like "Fat Pig" "Fat Americans" and "Pathetic Little Side Mirrors" or my favorite "Smells of the Cheapness of FCA." WHO ARE YOU? The smell of a new car is awesome in my opinion. The Interior of all my Dodge vehicles are well thought out and comfortable. You said you were privileged to have the pleasure to review and drive this vehicle. I would say respect the Brand, and think about how your review represents you and the products you speak of. Just something to consider moving forward. My journey with Dodge started with a 2013 Challenger V6 that I rented on a drive to Vegas. You said that was the "one you don't want". Obviously, the base model V6 was such a pleasure for me that I am now a FCA/Dodge fan! I recently sold my Billet Silver Challenger V6 (loved it) for a 2019 Shaker (Plum Crazy). The incredible thing about the Challenger is there is a version for everyone! I WOULD NEVER USE THE WORD "CHEAP" to describe ANY of the Vehicles I currently drive. You get great value for the dollar you spend with Dodge. I personally think your review was disrespectful to the Brand, and I would appreciate if you would re-think your words next time. I respect your review but I completely disagree with your presentation. Thanks for the Post!

I really like your reviews but I have to disagree that the Challenger is not a “pig” but rather a true muscle car. The Scat Pack is so much fun and is the best bang for your buck. I’m not a fan of the Widebody but that’s just my personal preference. Cheers.

John B a challenger is way more comfortable than a camaro. My brother has a zl1 and my cousin has a hellcat. The camaro is a monster for track but it’s a little uncomfortable as a daily. The challengers has more space but it’s still good for track days not as good as the camaro but it still goes around a track without a problem.

I thought the Mustang retro was the best design. It looked just like the 1970 Mach 1. They ruined it with the new version though. The Camaro had potential, but the front grill was always a fail. If they had put in a 1967 style front end with pop up headlights then they would have had something.

An absolutely gorgeous car! If I wanted more power, the Scat Pack WB would be my choice. I have a 2016 Challenger SXT in granite crystal that I absolutely love, and that I get thumbs up comments on every where I go. For me the 305 hp V6 has plenty of power and giddyups just fine, and gives me 30+ mpg on the hwy using 87 octane. Most probably aren't aware, but when this platform was launched, Dodge was owned by Daimler and the underpinnings of the Challenger is essentially a Mercedes E class from a decade ago, which makes for just absolutely the most comfortable long distance driver I've ever owned. Mine is just as stable and composed cruising at 100 mph as it is at 65. I've done numerous 600 to 700 mile days in my Challenger and always arrive at my destination just as refreshed as I was when I started the trip.

The timing on this review is amusing to me. I actually picked up a Dodge Challenger RT (non Scat Pack) base (so cloth seats) rental at an Avis on the same day this review came out. What I found MOST shocking was how much fun it was to drive given it is the slowest V8 Challenger in their lineup. It NEVER felt slow, the exhaust (even with the smallest displacement HEMI) ALWAYS announced its presence and when the area I was visiting got a bunch of rain dumped on it, the car handled SHOCKINGLY well for its size and being rear wheel drive. I hope you review the regular Challenger RT one day as my week of renting it told me that the Challenger RT is IMO the most underrated in their Challenger lineup right now given how much it is overshadowed by both the Scat Pack and the Hellcat.

An extra 113hp tends to have an "overshadowing" effect. I had an '09 Challenger R/T with the 5.7L in it. It was a decent performing car. I now have a '19 Challenger Scat Pack 392. There's a very very major difference between them..... I'm talking night and day.

Living in NYC I was getting 8-9Mpg with my Chally Scatpack, after 2 years of ownership I sold it, because having to go to the gas station 2x a week with high gas prices is very annoying, and on top of that I was getting weird seat sensor problems, and an intermittent check engine light that the dealership fixed 2x. love the car, it looks good, and very fun but it is made very cheaply. I now own a 2016 Audi S5 and even though its not as fast as the scatpack, it handles way better, cant wait to see the new generation of Challys tho. But even tho I miss it from time to time, the S5 is way more fun to drive, and gets way more attention.

As much as I enjoyed the review, I've noticed the mention about the "cheap" feature that the windows do not go automatic up. It's actually a safety feature by Dodge on 2 door vehicles, and has nothing to do with being cheap. I'm surprised that with the amount of different reviews of Challengers, the research on this has not been followed through. That said, the higher trims are always amazing, but the sxt trim is nothing to dismiss either. Other than that, I did enjoy the video :)

Sofyan: Your objectivity in certain reviews(read: FCA vehicles) really shows that your biases makes it hard to take you as seriously as other online reviewers. The Challenger is old. But why would you say this "looks and smells" like a rental car? That just reeks of snobbery. Seats are fatter Americans? Just wow....
Yes, the Challenger feels larger because it IS larger than the Camaro and Mustang. But this car offers far superior interior room, ride, hwy cruising, etc. Fat pig? Ouch.

    • @theredline
      @theredline  5 років тому +3

HellKitty 101 We understand that stating a car smells like a rental car can make it look like you’re a snob, so let’s clarify. If you watch our previous reviews on a Mustang and Camaro, we never say those vehicles smell that way simply because they don’t. Before Sofyan did this full time, he worked part time for Enterprise cleaning cars so he was in and out of rentals and just picked up the typical “odor” those cars had. Please don’t think of his statement of smelling like a “rental” car as snobbery, the odor inside this car just reminds him of those days. That being said, new FCA products from Jeep, Ram, Alfa, etc have a completely different design and feel a lot more premium. We’d like to see them carry this through into the Challenger. Also, regarding his “fatter” Americans comment on the seats, perhaps he could have chosen a less offensive phrase, we’re seeing most viewers laugh it off, which is what our intention was, as we didn’t want it to be an insult but more a joke. This car is not a very serious car but a car that puts a smile on your face because it encourages you to have some fun and we wanted that energy to come through in the review. Hope that helps to clarify a few things and thanks for watching!

Challenger is the only two door American muscle that can actually fit two adults in the back seat and has a large enough trunk space. It is the best practical muscle car in the market.
It compromises in handling due to all the space and weight but you don’t buy a challenger to take on curvy roads, you buy it to enjoy the cruising and straight line pulls.
There are ways to make this car handle but than you will loose the ride quality with really stiff suspension components.
