Have you looked at the quaife/m-performance diff as an upgrade? Looking at it on my m135i for improving grip on the rear end as the single tyre fire makes it more unpredictable when one wheel starts to break traction
@@finlaymann5386 If I had more $$$ or did more track days then I would consider it for sure. Mark has the LSD upgrade and says it transforms the handling though.. dunno I need to decide on like what Im doing car wise for the future.
John that was brilliant to watch. Loved the overtake you did on the Porsche towards the end, well planned and executed. The car sounded fantastic and very well driven. Big thumbs up.
cheers alan he let me go there. everyone drives really nice and its safe, lots go faster than me and I move over and ease off the gas.. its a great place to learn to go a bit faster on the track in a safe environment. highly recomend.
Forensic Detailing Channel , thanks John this is something I’d like to do. I have the BMW 335i which I think is a similar engine to yours and from what you’ve said, the track is a good safe place to enjoy the car.
Great drive 👍 Were you in manual mode for this track session? My gear changes seem much more aggressive than yours, especially when I use Sport plus manual mode. I've not had my M140i from new so I'm wondering if my gearbox had been flashed to make it more aggressive. Cheers. Jon.
ive been man flu'd out badly.. but im starting to shrug it off now. car has not been cleaned yet so hopefully yer I will do a really good clean of it. needs it.
Brilliant video, very nice driving 👍 impressed how good the Khumo tyres performed. Do you use oem pads or track pads? Do you need lessons or instruction before being allowed out on track, sorry for so many questions but I'm very envious!
Amongst other things I daily a well breathed on n54 335i, one of the best things I did to it was a xhp stage 3 gearbox map. Totally transformed the car, Might be worth looking into it mate it’s worth it 💯
Good driving man. In my oppinion I think you should keep the revs a bit higher and shift earlier. But good driving, you know the track I don't miss the apex. I also own an m140i and it's a great car.
Did you find out what that Beemer X3M had under the hood? I'm guessing you managed to decent lap times, cos your car will be so slippery through the air 😉. Nice work, wouldn't mind taking my XFS 3.0sc out for a track day - but closest decent track for me in N'Ireland would be Mondello Park, down near Dublin. Are you looking to do a review of Chip-Ex paint repair in the future?
Good driving matey ! Love my M140i. I looked, and the X3M has a 0-60 of 4.1 secs, which is about what I am getting with my remapped M140i. A limited slip diff, bilstein shocks, and bracing underneath would see you overtake that X3M I reckon :-))
its vritually stock nik, just spings spacers and remus (motech package). I was thinking about lower front arms and a map but Ive nearly killed myself too many times in this car, more power might be the end!! :)
@@ForensicDetailing LOL, Fair play ! I heard the lower front arms and tension struts (also needed to counteract the moving forward in the arches of the front wheels after fitting the M4 control arms), can add a degree of camber to help turn in a lot. Heard great things about the bilstein shocks, when used with an underbody brace, really helps stop the back end being so wobbly. I think with mapping, a lot of places go for headline figures which might appear more but they only happen in a small part of the rev range, so you lose the stock cars drivability. I had a map done, which (on the graph), looks almost identical to the stock map, so the power & torque curves are smooth and linear. Mine makes just over 410bhp and 576nm torque, but it is very smooth, and very much usable. To be honest, I call bs on some of the claims made from a simple remap (450bhp etc), you know as well as I do, some dyno's are calibrated to read higher, so their remap figures look more impressive. Limited slip diff is a must, although one of the more expensive upgrades. I'm saving the pennies for one :-)
How does the insurance work, if you take your car onto a race track? Pretty sure mine (fully comp) says, a big no. What happens if you crash it, or someone crashes into you? Just interested, seems a lot of fun. Would love to see how my BMW 325 does around this track. Probably will go through a few tyres though. Are run-flats a bad idea on a race track?
handling is incredible. just obviously need to feed on the power and dont try and sort of power through a tight corner when the tyres and squeeling and you carrying speed. but the car handles great. its when its wet or greasey theres problems really and on bad UK road a lot of people loose the back ends.
@@Laflash1 this all day long. Maybe there will be a new M1 coming though? or a new M140. not sure dunno m135 is kind of cool but it feels to me BMW held back with it. Eco tyres :)
@@ForensicDetailing Yeah I get your point and you are right I guess haha. I mean the new one would be out of my price tag as I'm guessing it's to rival the A45s (beast) and that's 50k plus right? Have you had the limited slip diff put on yours?
I dont have any session following mark but he would pull away. I dont have massive experience so Im just trying to slowly build speed and gain some experience and try and stay safe..
Great video, the camera really doesn't give you a sense of speed though, when you said you were going 110 I was shocked. Would be interesting to listen to the passenger commentary, we can all learn something.
yer it does make it feel slow doesnt it. another thing is the tyres were howling through most of the corners but you can barely hear it. I had no audio of the clip I took with mark. my GP5 had the exterior mic but the input socket on the go pro has got damaged now. sometimes the audio works sometimes it does not. suxs. In fact the audio on my runs here is taken from the GP8 which is recording the forward facing stuff.

One thing missing.... some good old manual gear shifts
What a rush Jon! I took todays overcast but fair weather day to strip + powerlock+845 my golf, i'm knackered now mate!

Nice driving Jon, I've got an open pit lane event at Spa in less than two weeks time!
thats gonna rock :) awesome car for brilliant historic track enjoy mate.
Jon, if you ever do track days the other side of the country (brands, snett, donny etc) let us know in advance as I'd love to tag along in my 140i 👍🏼
