- In this video the bus conversion gets a new color scheme and all new lights! As usual, it didn't go smoothly, but I'm happy with the results.

This has QUICKLY became one of my favorite channels.
Same. Found it totally by accident last month.
Awe that's so sweet!! This guy really is a cool, knowledgeable, very intelligent guy who can figure out just about any thing mechanical and his channel just proves it.
- same here for a long time now !!
Me three!
Same here.
I like how he treats his viewers as a common sense 🤨type. Rather than the tic toc inept. 😮
😄🤣🤣🤣😅
This man is living the dream. A good place to work, fun projects, being left the heck alone. And great sense of humor!
“Luckily I run over the garden hose. The gift that keeps on giving…” 😂😂😂😂😂
That front bumper looks WAAAY better than the chrome one. Nice work James, enjoyed the video like always 😁👍 The LED lights are a nice touch as well 🔧🔩
I am always happy when someone gets rid of a big ugly chrome bumper. My first W900A Kenworth had one, and when it dropped a valve I had to take the bumper off to get a wrecker hooked up. Not very practical.
Watching a video, Not seen how old bumper looks, yet, when retrofitted
came here to say like WhY you getting rid of perfectly normal bumper and want to instal old rusty ugly one…
But I mean if actual owners are saying chrome one was ugly, I continue watching and will see how it goes 😅
P.S. I’m sorry, but chrome one looked WAY better, whole bus looked more modern and had a posture
old bumper is good only if you after authenticity or rigidity, otherwise it has added 20 years and nothing else
This bus is absolutely turning out to be one of my favorite projects you have done. I hope it continues. I hope you and your family get to enjoy many family trips together and have loads of fun. I always enjoy your content keep up the good work. I'll be watching and waiting for your next video as I normally do. Thanks for taking us along on your fun projects.
I don't know why I didn't discover this channel 3 years ago. But I have to say it was the best discovery of the year. The only channel that catches my attention and keeps my interest. Simply sensational. Keep it up James!!!!
I wish his name was Jimmy. James seems too formal.
Nice work! I think you made some good decisions on the bus, and the results speak for themselves. When it comes to troubleshooting, you're knocking them out of the park! Happy Holidays to you and yours!
4:59 smart move. That's gonna last beyond your life time and it will insulate the wire (which is a demanding one) from heat from the roof. I've seen soooo many of these bus projects burn down from the AC wires (tho, admittedly, likely because the teens had run wrong gauge wire).
10:40 keep them. You never know when they come in handy. I have a bucket of them and they always come in handy with various projects. The stainless ones are perfect for filler material when welding patches.
37:21 protip, using the center hub of the rear wheel (if you happen to have a piece of pipe that fits it loosely, perfect) make an L shaped tool that can accept (at the end) a small brush. You can then make the perfect arches with the darker blue paint using the wheel hub as the center. I'd add like a third of an inch extra over the furthest (currently) dark blue line. To make sure it works right, you'll need a roller to roll on the body work to keep the L bracket sturdy. A caster wheel should work.
Right that arc should be a perfect arc to set it off.
It's not hoarding if you actually use the stuff you hang onto. Real hoarders just collect crap because they have mental problems.
congratulations on a realistic , usable renovation . Far from perfect but perfect from afar!
The bus is looking great! I used that Durabak for the decks and roof of my old houseboat and it seemed to work really good. I don’t know how it held up long term because I’ve since sold it but I was quite happy with it.
Good vid.
Rope caulk makes a great gasket for lights. It seals water tight but is easy to remove. It's especially handy for vintage vehicles that are hard to find seals for. Best of all, it's cheap!
Very cool LBG, I love your channel the way you add humor to your undeniable knowledge. Can't wait for the next video.
I love that old bus! You've put a lot of work into it, but I say its well worth it!
Congrats on breaking 60K subs man! Been here since the beginning and watching you have fun. I think the bus is turning out to be a cherry of a ride.
The bus looks and sounds awesome. Its been fun watching the progress. Looking forwards to the next project.
Hi James, in my opinion the bus looks much better with the standard bumper bar and the paint job is great. One suggestion, perhaps put a roof mounted radio antenna up near front of the bus, that way if you forget about your clearance height the antenna will warn you before you rip the air conditioner off the roof. A simple fix for a potentially expensive mistake.
Cheers, Stuart 🇦🇺
I love it! Gorgeous color combo and more than presentable.
I think rattle canning the rims dark blue would look sweet. ;)
That paint is good from far like a bunch of my work. The pacific badge with the red paint is sweet. It really brings the whole bus together.
I like the paint colors and the scheme, but it needs a dark blue accent stripe along the top in line with where you replaced the metal. The way it is right now, the white top is just floating in the air by itself. It's not tied in to the rest of the paint scheme. Also, I've NEVER seen a paint so sticky!!! That looked to be more trouble than putting on bed liner! As always, informative, entertaining and educational! Thanks.
Hi James, One thing no one can ever say is you don't keep busy. My gosh Mr. where DO you get the energy and inclination let alone video and edit a show for me? You and about 3 others are my go to when I would have ordinarily sat in front of TV. I watch you on my phone and laptop. I haven't even turned my TV on since the election was stolen. I only get my news from RAV online. You and just a small handful of YT people are such a marvel you helped wean me off TV. I can't thank you enough. That bus is really looking good, and apparently your handy work is making the grade. It's on the job and not coughing or sputtering. I had a slide in camper for an old dilapidated Dodge Power Wagon that I used to carry to the North woods in Michigan's Upper Peninsula 2 or 3 times per year for hunting and your bus reminds me of those days. Thank you for posting and I hope things work out for you in the sub dept. ben/ michigan
The new bumper is better. LED lights seem awesome. The bus has been a great learning project.
I wish I had known someone like you when I was growing up. I would have learned so much more, so much faster.
Super cool project. It just keeps getting better.
One day this channel popped up about 6 months ago for me and it quickly became one of my favorite channels.
Well the paint job may be far from perfect. But looks perfect from far! This is a cool bus for sure.😃😃😎😎 Just watched it on tour and the paint job makes it look like a 'Push Me Pull Me' It looks the same which ever way its going. Think the dark blue arch paint should be on the back wheel arch only. Its the artist in me!
The bus is looking incredible, and the video, as always, is amazing. Love from Brasil!
The bus looks REALLY GREAT!! You have made great progress on that thing!
I totally love this guy! I don't know how this guy can do this without manuals ant the seeming impossible problems to solve. He is so mellow! Fun to watch and see the amazing results.
Great job again sir. This channel is so inspiring. Thank you.
Great job, James, I suggest a front air dam. Especially appreciate the details on the lighting and wiring.
That is indeed a complete win. I love how you have restored this beautiful bus and made it such a practical old vehicle with modern touches. Your videos are so entertaining and I love watching them. If I were your neighbour, I'd come over and hang out with you - if you'd have me. Great work, James.
One of the best knowledgeable channels here on Y,T.
ALSO EXPLAINS EVERYTHING WELL FOR US NEWBIE'S 👌Great content! Love the bus.. 👏👍
The continuous high level of sarcasm makes your videos even better. I love this stuff.
It looks good from far but far from good 😉 actually it really does look nice. You always do some incredible work and you do a wonderful job explaining all the details. Keep up the great work and happy camping. Oh and you really did an amazing job with the scenic shots.👍✌️🇺🇲
Another great video, love your thinking and just making things work. Some of the best times in life are when you do spontaneous things and enjoy them to the max….way to go
Wow, the old bus looks soo much better !!! Keep up the good work !!!
I believe your rear marker lights should be red 3 centered 1 on each corner 1 amber on each side in the middle 1 amber on each front corner with 3 in the front center
Red reflectors on the rear and sides amber middle each side and front corners
You might also add a step well light both inside and outside underneath
👍🇺🇸
IT LOOKS SO NICE
Compared To when
You First Got It
Nice JOB 👍
Can’t wait to see what your up to
Next 👀 Thank You for all your
Great Video !
Cool it's a low buck production.🛠️ Great Sunday evening everyone. Remember everyone Jesus Christ is the answer through the Good and the bad. He is the way ✝️🙏👍
James, I would like to know how the DIY COE project is going with that WW2 semi track, I don't know if I missed any videos, but I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes, any updates?
Have been watching this channel for a while now but just kinda for got about it... then today I told my self... "Hey what about that Low Buck Garage channel ya used to watch...?" "Didn't ya enjoy it when you were watching it...?" Hummm..., guess I have been missing it after all it was a fun one...?" So I typed in low buck garage and sure'nuff it's still there, so I said "Why not subscribe and help the feller out with his channel..." Now I am a proud subscriber of Low Buck Garage..." Hope the guy can forgive me for not subscribing earlier... 🙄
Look'en forward to future episodes and will get caught up on some of the one I have been missing.
Just found your channel this week. Love the low key sarcasm, reminds me of my Dad. LED lights are great aren't they? Believe it or not my Dad was making LED flashlights all the way back in the early 90's. They didn't have the output they do today with the new cob LEDs. He was soldering 4 or 6 together adapting them in the old cheap 2 cell D flashlights with LEDs he would get from American Science and Surplus. He was a radio tech in Nam in the Navy and taught me a lot growing up. Thanks for the great videos! Keep them coming brother!
Hi, super fun to watch, very informative and entertaining. Many many thanks from a wet place Nr Liverpool UK. Love your weather!!
Thank you for pointing out the dangers of hexavalent chromium. I work with that stuff at my job. Not fun to deal with. It DOES make one hell of a primer.
That was very interesting 🤔 content. The bus 🚌 looks really good at 20ft. Not bad, you added a few years to her. Thanks 👍 for sharing.
Excellent video James :) also one test can do see if Alternators putting right Volts and Amperage to batterys back on Reserve too ! Also when lights on go up hills to not kicking back and plus Fans keep motor coller to much more from previous problems had too! Like paint job to and all did so far on 1953 Kenworth Bus and should be fully restored up soon too!
You are for sure an aerospace machinist and i wasn't too sure till i saw this video lol the riveting and the paint is a dead giveaway. Some of the best materials from the aerospace industry iis some of the higher quality stuff. Some pop rivets i have for nearl 20yrs now sell for $8 pc. lmao
You need to measure out the catalyst very accurately..... So I just squeezed a blob of catalyst into the rest .... I actually laughed out loud when you said that 😅
Turned into a really awesome family vehicle
Looking good. The test drive...RV stands out smoothly as compared to how it would be a bit "loud" with the red.
I just love your outlook, especially when your good enough is great. I bet your family has a great time with all your projects. keep the videos coming, they're really fun to watch, thanks
I believe you said this color scheme is what your dad wanted, and that’s cool, makes dad happy…I must admit tho, a red, white, and blue scheme would sure look nice too! Job well done, James👍
Hey James/LBG, How old are you?
Been watching this project since the beginning. WOW what a task. great job my friend.
Love your channel ,love your videos.👍👍👍👍👍 Partsam round lights are great.
Opened up a can of tin worms hiding in that roof line. Holy smokes.
Nice lights. I upgraded to LED's too.
I really like those side lights.
Great job. Your bus looks very good.
Love your commentary! Excellent project. You’ve done a ton of work on it so far.
That dark blue paint sticking was insane.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I’d totally hire you for a project of mine. Your amazing 👍!!!!!!!
she's a beaut!
Zinc chromate. Put a lot of that on in the Navy. They did not warn us about any of that.
Laying in bed, it's nearly 3am and I've just finished binge watching your great series of videos. I will be checking out your other ones ASAP.
Cool clearance lights! Will look great.
Bus looks fab also.
That looks so much better, let us know how that coating holds up
That paint is pretty rugged, I think that's the same stuff I used some a few years ago when I replaced a rusted out floor in a ski area bus and it ripped my foam brush apart just about instantly. It still looked good when dry though. Nice job
One of my themes when it comes to projects is
"Far from perfect but perfect from afar!!"
Great job thanks for sharing your talents, style and adventures!!
You're smart, resourceful, and do the kind of projects we can all relate to. Thanks for sharing. I hope we cross paths someday.
Lol, when you were knocking out the reflector and throwing the back plate in the trash I was thinking "hey, you can still use that!".
You have given some answers to at least a dozen of my build problems that i said "I'll deal with that one later". Love your work and outside the box remedies.
I always learn from this channel I love it
I really like the new lights. They make the whole bus look brand new! And I think you did a great job cutting out the rusty metal and replacing it with new!
Awesome work in that vintage bus
This bus is really going to be cool. I love your channel. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes.
Always great to see another video from LowBuck Garage 👍👍👍
Great work , practical maintenance, update, upgrade, thanks for sharing 👍💨💨
The ability to decide when enough is enough is a skill I learned late in my work life. Thanks for another video.
Happy for You, Garfield !
With your "do it the cheapest and fastest" attitude...I'm surprised you are still living....just kidding.
What an AMAZING transformation. Thhanks for all.
Cool bus. Bought my first project recently. A stripped down 66 c20 with cut 1/2 ton coils in the back and seems lowered front and back.
Hi. I got stuck watching your video… very informative and easily understood.. so video on … youve got one viewer here from manila.. keep on.. thank you. For sharing
The new lights not just work but they look great too! Nice job!
Wow that turned out nice. More work than most people are willing to do. 😮
Love this project……agree that it’s a complete win👍
City of Rocks! Amazing landscape. I'm guessing that now the bus in in New Mexico, rust will slow way down. Your balanced approach will be fine.
Love the work you did on the Pacific badge! It really pops out! I'm enjoying your channel.
What a beautiful old bus. I like LED lights also. Unfortunately, my state doesn't allow them on certain applications.
I'm currently rebuilding 2 jeeps 1 military GPW the other military M151A1... Watching your video drilling out rivets replacing rusty sheet metal with a rivet gun really makes me jealous..... I have been doing a lot of welding grinding welding grinding welding grinding... And it gets old
This is turning out to be pretty nice. It kinda has early Wanderlodge vibes. Search for the #1, built in 1963, you’ll see what I mean. Nice work bud. Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas!
My favorite fix in this video is that Pacific trim piece - just the perfect touch. You need another channel, maybe "The King Of Backyard Engineering". Or, Practically Practical Practices. 🙂😛
Yep....love me some LowBuck....
Oh ya, that's awesome! When you get to a million subs, people will recognize you wherever you go and ask for help low-bucking their junk, I mean classic. I would. I just have to wait for my '04 Ram to become 70 years old. Hmmm, are you teaching your kids low-bucking? Or maybe your grandkids! They are lucky to have been born into such a family!
I really enjoyed that Series. Hopefully there will be something to do around and inside that thing, not because I like your suffering but because it's a cool project.
Also found your Channel by complete supprise, so UA-cam favors you right now. Found you via the 2$ Jeep. That's a whole new can of worms tho 🤣
Congrats LBG, on finally getting ur Dad"s RV 53 Kenny running/driving and looking great.. Rv camping trips.
Really is funny how UA-cam is only just now starting to take off big time. Anyhow been following Bus Grease Monkey since he got evicted from the State of Indiana which seems like a million Years now. Not as Ancient as Andrew Camerata but right up there. Pacific Northwest Hillbilly amazing too. In some ways the list is getting endless now and kind of annoying actually but for your reference everything and anything is there for downtime pointers. Amazing BGM didn't get swept away in a massive flood in Tennessee a few Years back actually. I really do wonder how anyone is selling new machinery at the moment with this whole "Industry" trending big time now. The Rise and Fall ...and Rise Again!...of Allis Chalmers alone is worth a full Year's worth of content. I almost feel sorry for that John Deere Kubota Massey Ferguson TYM Cat Takeguchi Case IH Volvo Mack Freightliner Peterbilt Kenworth Cub Cadet Simplicity David Brown JCB Le Tourneau guy...well, maybe not the Le Tourneau guy but yeah... incredible the amount of old and some "used once declared old" equipment out there.
I LOVE THAT BUS! I'm so envious! What a splendid job you've done on it. If there would be any updates, I would love to hear and watch a video about them
From N. Ireland I salute you Sir. A wonderful series of videos and I am gobsmacked at your ingenuity! Well done.
