Fenix: _(rambling about Danuth VII, worthy foes and what not)_
Aldaris: _'Does he always talks this much?'_
Executor: _'Yep. Once you get him in a fight he never shuts up'._
Completely Insensitive Matt after seeing Fenix in his Dragoon shell kicking butt: - 2 bases gone... Maybe the cripple has its use after all...
Considering that it is canon that the Executor is Artanis, imagine Skippy sporting the Protoss equivalent of a shit-eating grin when he says that.
EDIT: _Wait...you're Selendis?!_
@@HeIsAnAli Yep! If you were Artanis, then you couldn't be the same Executor. He's a separate character in BW but the expansion keeps the protagonists for the Protoss and Zerg campaigns.
@@donbionicle It's been made explicit that Artanis has been retconned as the base Starcraft Executor. There's still nothing official on if the BW Executor (who at the time was indeed treated as the same continuing character) has been retconned away, retconned into Selendis, or simply merged with Artanis (for what it's worth, retconned as Selendis seems to be the favored approach, but hasn't been made official AFAIK).
As for the Zerg Campaign, that's incorrect: the "Player Character" Cerebrate from base Starcraft was slain by Tassadar, and it's a different Cerebrate that Kerrigan took control of in BW.
Mind you, these are all things that were established later on, several by explicit retcon ("Executor" is a higher rank than the one Artanis holds in BW, for instance), and some by clarification (the BW Cerebrate being different from the OG Cerebrate).
Good one! :D
"like the reaver exists. but the reaver unfortunatly is not and never will be a siege tank"
alright modders, you know what to do
imagine if the LotV reaver was just a siege tank.
Reaver sieges, has 13 range, but the same attack and is hit scan, the horror
@@iaNdaveNport. Siege Reaver: has the same behavior as the Reaver but also has Siege Mode: in Siege Mode the Reaver is rooted like a Siege Tank and has the same range. When a unit comes into range, the Reaver locks onto it and shoots a projectile locked onto it. The projectile when it lands does the same amount of damage as a Siege Tank hit, and also spawns a scarab that immediately locks onto the nearest enemy and does the same area damage as a normal scarab shot. If the initial hit kills 3 or more units then two scarabs are spawned instead of one.
Your wish is granted. Reavers now launch scarab onto target location, which will charge towards closest enemy and explode.
God, picturing a reaver splaying its legs out, and lifting up its tail at a 45 degree angle... all accompanied by the same siege mode sound effect, of course...
It be funny if in every mission that Fenix dies in, you revive him as a dragoon
Time traveler: *Kick a rock a bit too far*
The timeline:
Can't wait to see Rashagal get captured and turned by the zerg... Oh, wait...
Terrans on Aiur? IMPOSSIBLE!
Makes the comparison of Mengsk Troopers are zerglings seem fitting and funny.
Terrans on Aiur? More likely than you think!
wE sHalL seE...
Search your feelings. You know it to be true.
I wouldn't mind watching a "bad game" series of a few videos in length.
I'd be down for watching it as well, although I think lampooning is best done with a live crowd in a place like Twitch, where you can get reactions to your ribbing (and additional jokes/comments from the crowd). Maybe he could stream it and upload the vods here?
"Canons have great pathing" is certainly a sentence.
Especially compared to Dragoons, which literally have goo in their name.
Well, I've certainly never had a canon wander somewhere I didn't want it. The same can not be said of literally any non-structure unit in starcraft 1.
@@BoredomItself I didn't have any wandering canons, but I am 100% sure it would have had a way better pathing compared to dragoons :)
This must be why they get used in *cannon rushes*
@@LuminousLead LMAO
"Hey, that thing's leaking blue fire. You can't fix it. You can't fix my ship, either."
"We're the most advanced race with the oldest space empire and literal magic technology, ofcourse we can't repair any hull damage."
at least they learn to repair in legacy of the void
Finding a random Psi Emitter in one of the Mar Sara missions that you can't interact with is a neat idea from a story standpoint. It would have been one of those things that you don't understand why its there at first, but learn about it later.
Yeah, it'd lend credence to the Confederacy experimenting with drawing Zerg or that Arcturus was setting the commander up so he could "rescue" them.
@@LuminousLeadI’d go with the Confederacy. It’d go along with the whole “bad group usurped by an even worse one.” Thing. Plus Mengsk doesnt get emitters til later on. I don’t like the idea of having him as this great xanatos gambit planner
Homeworld 3 would be pretty cool to see on the channel, as much as I like SC1 and SC2, having something different is nice. Plus I want to see how they bungled the story even more than last time (homeworld 2, not kharak).
You can look at other UA-camrs and see that the game looks and sounds like Homeworld but that's where the similarities end. Plus, Denuvo DRM and a crazy intrusive EULA are a huge red flag to me.
I had zero expectations for a good story after the HW2 sci-fi trope mumbo jumbo that will make even Zeratul cringe. DoK was somewhat better but then they've leaned too much into personal stuff, which was never the strong suit of HW and it was mostly weird.
But then Gearbox came with very obvious desire to milk this franchise with mobile games, gaas and other nonsense, stretching the developer efforts thin - and now I have negative expectations for a good story, campaign or just even just the game itself.
I am now only waiting for my fig collectors edition with the mothership model - the only real reason I bought it. Can't have too many spaceship models
@@NightNord the story is pretty bad, the gameplay is disrupted with lengthy (NOT ingame)cutscenes in allmost every other mission. Even the fact that there are lengthy cutscenes is an anathema to Homeworld. DoK's were already quite a bit too long, but they never were that cringy toi watch
Finally people fucking agree that hw2s story sucks
Thank God
And yeah I was getting a weird feeling about how hw3 was going to go, I'm still sad when it turned out to be bad though
That PSI emitter being there is cool. One of the StarCraft novels, Speed of Darkness i think, added that to the lore. A group hunkered down in a bunker and activated a PSI emitter to distract the Zerg to give the Sons of Korhal dropships time to evacuate everyone else!
Cool Easter egg
'Prepare to die' is a sentence in starcraft 1 that's equivalent to 'Kirov Reporting' in Red Alert. You hear it, you panic
Aldaris will be Mensk, Fenix will be Raynor then Tassadar will be Kerrigan? He has a cute fox face in the old starcraft 1.
Back in the day I thought Tassadar's portrait was a raccoon, and Aldaris was a dog with a stethoscope.
@@runzeeducation5621 Looks like you mashed some poor fella's dog, Sarge
@@tindroyes It's a Judicator, Lester. Smaller type of Protoss
@@runzeeducation5621 Aldaris always looked like 2001 era robots in disguise Optimus prime to me when I was a kid.
>Kirov Reporting
_[LAUGHS IN AEGIS CRUISER]_
It's always worthwhile to lampoon a bad campaign. I say go for it.
I'd like to see Homeworld series. I just hope the writing is bad not because that is where solar Kerrigan went after messing up SCII story :D
I cannot overegzagerate how much i love the fact that your hero got army upgrades in sc1.
I know its super silly that kerrigan ends up with 50+3 dmg, but well, she gets up to 5 armor so , not a total loss.
It just makes hero feel like its a part of the faction , rather than beeing separate entity.
Scout: That thing is on fire! Send a probe to repair it, and it can fix my ship too!
Fenix: Executor, these are Scout bikes, aren't they?
Executor: Good eye, Fenix
Hey Grant - you probably won't even see that but lets try anyway :D
You should try an "StarCraft Alternative" - it has all 6 campaigns reworked with same idea of what you are giving us here in the video... but better.
Since here what we see is just Terran -> Toss / Toss -> Terran while Zergs are just Zergs
in StarCraft Alternative you have:
Terran -> Zerg
Zerg -> Toss
Toss -> Terran
For Broodwar campaign they also added small changes here and there - as i remember that durring Human (UED) campaign, you play not just as normal Zerg, but Primal zerg
And you get Draliska, the most badass Hunter-Killer in the galaxy
@@micuu1 amen brother!
Homeworld would be a fun game to watch. Either as a stream or a series
Honestly I'd like to see more plays like the AoM run, so the Homeworld 1/2 remasters as well, not just 3 because of the meme, more Starship Troopers, Haegemonia has a really good story that could be fun too (It's on GOG), go back to Dawn of War, etc. Have it alternating with an SC mod like happens already.
Keyword: Fun. And question: Would it be?
HW1 campaign had nice story, decent difficulty and somewhat steep learning curve.
HW2 campaign had bad story and hard difficulty due to basically forcing metagaming or flawless execution to have chance of survival.
While HW1 was fun, HW2 was not (talking of campaigns).
So how much fun would HW3 be if it's more of HW2 style?
I'm not against Grant trying it, but at the same time wonder if it would be fun enough to play/watch.
Perhaps stream would be better for it? I'll watch it nonetheless if he gives it a try.
@@kotor_fan you forgot the gem that isw Cataclysm or whatever the rerelease was called again, the standalone expac for HW1, that is basically HW in terms of story and mission deisgn but cranked to 11, and probably one of the best horror games in existance.
Yay! SC1 mod campaign! It is kinda rare to see SC1 content so it always gets me excited.
“Did it ping a random zealot because Fenix was dead?” No, I’m pretty sure the zealot it pinged was the revived Fenix. I think I saw that particular one zooming up from the first base.
I also noticed how fast it was running, so it definitely was Fenix
mod creator here: yes, the revived ones don't have teal because that would involve janky triggers.
@@kamikazegargoyle Out of interest, what happens if Fenix is still dead? Does the cutscene play out with no one being pinged?

Fenix has been killed. (author's note: no way)
He can be revived at your Nexus for 200 minerals. (Second author's note: a regular Zealot costs 100 minerals. Per the rules in mission 1, hero units cost double the base unit in minerals/gas. Hence, 200 minerals for one Fenix. Sounds like a steal to me.)
Edits pending post additional missed text.
31:05 Not missed text, but from memory, Protoss and Zerg are horrendous at showing production. Zerg is worse than Protoss, since unless you're mutating a building or unit, you get no feedback at all about what buildings are performing research.
For the Protoss, I believe the only structures that show feedback are the Nexus (little crystal on the top flashes repeatedly), Stargate (the inner fins flash), Forge (the gear spins), the Cybernetics Core (the light circle spins), and I believe that's it.
And before anyone asks, every Terran building has either some sort of light, motion, or both to indicate production. The Control Tower add-on for the Starport might be the only exception? Unsure.
A reply on this comment confirmed that all Terran buildings have feedback.
_aggressive probe noises_
Control tower lights flash when it’s researching.
@@DestructivelyPhased I thought it did, but I didn't remember, so thank you for confirming.
Hi Finley! I like that you have already changed up the lore from minute 0. Pretty seeeeek.
Ok since Protoss is Terran, I have believe that Terran is Zerg. SO.
Man I can't wait for Zerg Kerrigan to revert back to human form after being captured by the Terran equivalent of the Overmind.
yasss
6:55 "I had to do a quick debugging"... after going at 2x through the first mission, I misheard this as "a quick depot-ing" and assumed it was a euphemism for pooping, before I listened again.
(Aldaris is briefing the executor about Fenix's death at the hands of the zerg)
"Oh that happens all the time, just toss 200 minerals into the Nexus he'll be back on his feet in no time."
Homeworld 3 story is like a fanfic, random self insert main character shit on the previous MC because of how dumb they were when dealing with the current Big bad.
"I'll never lose a hero again."
Seconds later: "Woah woah woah, infested terrans!"
It's even better than that, because between these two there's:
"Prepare to die!"
:D
As for Homeworld 3, hell yeah, why not? So long as the gameplay's any fun, it should be alright at the very least
HUH. That Psi Emitter? That's sick.
The Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak campaign is quite good! The sound design, high ground rules and carrier power shunting are very fun. Please cbeck it out 😊
Aldaris: Artanis is sus
Artanis: Aldaris be reasonable!
Artanis has been ejected.
Artanis was not the impostor.
26:00 All I'm hearing is Professor Quirrell from Harry Potter, but instead of a troll in the dungeon it's "Zergliiiiings, in the backline!"
Beeing able to revive heroes? Now thats a real MVP move
Homeworld 3, yes.
I started playing HW3 last night, couple hours into it. I think the game suffers from being in the shadows of its predecesors, but it has been an awesome experience nonetheless. There's lots of potential for GGG shenanigans!
1:11 10 Zealots?! That's like double the mineral amount of the regular mission! I think 5 would have been enough. I wish there was something to this mission that made it worth (re)playing.
I love watching different variations of the 1st Starcraft! (Reverse company for example). Thanks to the community for such wonderful mods! Continue in the same spirit !
Ayeeee been wondering if you were gonna do these. Always love SC1 stuff
Yes. I want to absolutely see that series Grant.
I'd watch the homeworld 3 playthrough if it was on youtube
I always like watching you play other stuff. Seeing your take on things is always entertaining, and if it's something I happen to be familiar with I really enjoy the Grant experience.
Now I just need a Mass Recall race-swap campaign series and I'll be set.
just please, dear gods, no cutscenes...
Oh that's clever. You first see Zeratul in an installation mission and the next mission is one.
Always impressive to watch you play. I used to think I was awesome at the game but you're on another level completely. C:
Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak was really fun for me.
I'd still love you to finish MARAUDERS! campaign. I hope you come back to it.
more upvotes for this comment right here, the marauder campaign was just stupid fun, and thats the best kind of fun.
I would like you to play Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak, really interested in how you gonna play it! *Especially when you realize, that hotkeys there are cursed to be forever set in stone of default configuration!*
I'm 100% rpo Homeworld 3 campaign. Especially enjoying the (as far I've I seen) nonsense of a campaign narrative. Also, even tho it seems kinda buggy/unpolished, the core gameplay is still neat so there's some positives.
PS: I've seen a video of someone who had early acces reacting to the worst moments of the campaign, I think, that if you do the series, there episode should end with a 2-3 recap of the narrative to process the moon logic
Grant: “Reavers are not and never will be siege tanks.”
Random modder: “Hold my beer.”
About Homeworld 3: I think you should do it. maybe you can use your RTS Advisor skills and evaluate what was good, what was bad and what you would have done differently.
Play-through of Homeworld 3 you say? I would love to see you play it! I like space themes and I've played a bit of Homeworld 1, it is a nice strategy game in full 3D space! I had a lot of fun with it, hopefully the new one in terms of gameplay is just as fun! And besides, I think most of us are not here just for the games and mods, but also you, Grant! For your persona, kindness and random interesting trivia!
I'd honestly LOVE to see the Homeworld 3 Gameplay. Homeworld it's a saga that my dad gas always loved and I'd like this to be a thing, so he can also watch It.
Thanks for the fun executor! ^^
And seeing how bad a rts campain can be could be enjoying, like watching a bad film that is so bad that it becomes funny. :)
Waow this was really fun to watch. And fun how they used the different voice lines✌️✌️✌️
29:00 Since I didn't see anybody else mention it. I'm fairly sure that Psi Emitter is something added in the mod.
This was rad to watch - very seamlessly put together! Looking forward to more. ^-^ As for Homeworld 3... As a fan of Homeworld and Homeworld: Cataclysm (or "Emergence" after Blizzard decided to trademark the word "Cataclysm" >.>), my heart aches seeing what has become of the series. If you're likewise at least somewhat familiar with the series, I'd say go for it! Elsewise, I would suggest you just go play one of those, cuz they're awesome (if a little clunky).
Finlay? Finley? Tychus...Finlay? Confirmed, Grant is Jimmy Raynor
About the Homeworld 3 campaign: absolutely. Let's all laugh together.
I could have sworn that a Gateway's Crystal glowed rapidly as units were being produced.
There is a very neat custom campaign for sc1 called heroes y silencio, i don't know if there is an english translation but they did a really cool job with it, it even features weather effects
5:45 New challenge run idea? "Can GiantGrantGames complete a full playthrough of StarCraft without saying a word?"
And, if you don't like that, here's another challenge: how many Games could a Giant Grant game if a Giant Grant could game Games?
Bad rts where we just have a 'so bad it might be good' approach would be so fun!
"interested in doing a bad RTS campaign together?"
yes absolutely! that sounds hilarious to go thru
No one:
Aldaris: We shall see.
Some people may complain but I'd love to hear each of the mission starts I do love the story of StarCraft 1.
hell yes on the homeworld 3 thing, even just stream archives
I would love to see all homeworld games on this channel.
Oh hell yeah I'd love to see you play some more games! Sounds great! Please play Homeworld, I will watch the hell out of it!
Oh I would 150% watch every episode of a Homeworld 3 playthrough, hopefully here because I can't catch streams
HW3 YESSSSSS!!!
Go for it on the home world game. Can't speak for everyone, but I always enjoy your videos even if they stray from the content that brought me here originally. No matter the path you chose, get on out there and GL HF :)
A Homeworld 3 series would be pretty fun. While the story has it's issues, the gameplay is an absolute blast.
I would love either poking fun at Hoeworld 3, or playing Homeworld 1 seriously. It's been ages since I played that series, and it was REALLY cool.
I dunno how interested you are into other older games, but Ground Control, Metal Fatigue, and Hostile Waters are some excelent strategy games as well.
Nice :)
Homeworld 3: ABSOLUTELY!
This was fun
9:12 send a probe to gather it, then gather minerals and the psi emitter might disappear, unless the probe cannot mine
One more in favor of the Homeworld 3 campaing! Also, I seldomly comment but have been lurking for a while: Thanks of all the amazing free content!!
Jerry just wanted to be like Fenix.
I would love to watch you play Homeworld 3. So long as you'd enjoy yourself, of course.
Grant I can confirm that the Psi Emitter is a Finlay Easter Egg. its not in base game, I loaded it up to check. maybe recall?
I would love to see homeworld 3 in all its glory
OOOO THIS WILL BE GOOD
Did anyone else notice the probe that ended up standing next to the minerals around 10:00? XD
Id love to see homeworld 3 with you Grant. Your commentary on anything bad would be great
Homeworld 3 vids sound awesome! That way I won't be super disappointed when I play it myself lol
I would totally enjoy a Homeworld series from you, I highly recommend playing 1 and 2 first if you haven’t, but even if it’s just on stream or on the archives it would still be cool.
23:24 Hell yeah, Grant, do it.
Homeworld 3 could be fun, so long as 'bad campaign' doesn't mean another multi-hour tutorial from the darkest pits of horror.
Getting Scouts on the third mission is pretty funny. I would have thought the player would get them when they normally get Wraiths, but the Protoss lack a fast ground unit in the first Starcraft so it's fine. I guess instead of the Wraith Grant will get the Corsair as the primary flying unit of the campaign.
Already a great campaign, the next missions are going to be so much fun to watch.
Yes I am interested seeing Homeworld 3.
top notch thumbnail :D
"protoss yell"
But grant...they have no mouth
@mission 1 Grant, I think most people are here for you, yeah, interesting stuff in mission is good but it is not all.
I like Hommeworld 3 gameplay and story so far (tbh I'm only few missions in fing asteroids) it's cheesy, but fun. I'll be glad to see you play it :).
Yes to homeworld,
also, Hydras are good agaisnt Battle cruisers
possibly carriers.
They deal explosive damage somehow.
"If Fenix die, we can just rebuild him." Yeah like he already been rebuild to Dragoon and Immortal, so it sure be fine that we can rebuild him again lol.
In mission 3, I have noticed going back and playing it it seems super easy with no units that really attack you. I'm not sure if it's because I was young and didn't know how to play, but when I was playing this off the CD on the Windows 95, I remember this mission actually being pretty hard if you didn't set up defenses and have a bunch of units ready. I remember swarms of zerg attacking, especially the last 3 minutes. I wonder if the original game had triggers that would just spawn tons of enemies got lost with updates and revised versions.
I’d love to see Homeworld on here
I've watched you play starcraft but you play the enemy factions, starcraft reverse or whatever, that was fun watching you do that, so SC1 has these neat little openings that people get in an edit the mission briefings, the problem is in sc2, you just fast forward through premade cutscenes when they mod stuff around, the modders don't quite get to be as creative there, missed and unfortunate.
I suspect this might also be remastered maybe, I just don't remember this panel being like this, very fancy.
Grant:"Nnow if I DO remember correctly, this is a mod that does have enhanced difficulty compared to the base Campaign. Simply because you..."
The Adviser: "You require more Vespene Gas!"
ill watch homeworld
