Who knows the names of all the bridges they have crossed by train. In The Netherlands, when I live, there are many bridges and a well developed rail network. I have crossed thousands of bridges and for the life of me cannot recall the names if I even knew them at any time. So what? Sleepy Joe is the most alert and best informed Presiden of the USA of the last 3 decades, at least. He is old enought to be wise. He is experienced enough to know how to avoid serious errors. He is mature enough not to react impulsively. There has not been a better President of the Union in recent times.

They can happen because some resigns, or leaves for whatever reason, and an election is held to replace them. Yes, it does matter because Alabama is about as conservative as you can find in the US and to lose by 25 points. Not a strong showing by the GOP just 7 or 8 months out from a Presidential election.

I don't think so. I do think RK Junior could mess the whole thing up and it's anyone's guess. In Canada we've got the liberals and the conservatives and the NDP which in the US in the McCarthy era would be called communists, they actually just function as champions of specific causes like recognition for native people or something like that. I know Reagan was already in the beginning stages of Alzheimer's in the last year or so of his presidency ... ok Nancy was always consulting astrologers etc. but if you're going to be POTUS whatever your platform you need your wits about you. To me that's the biggest issue. I know there are many many unsung civil servants and bureaucrats keeping the wheels turning but the buck stops at the top. Look at the narrow escape during the Bay of Pigs incident. JFK averted a nuclear disaster. I would hate to see either of those two on the spot like that.

Populist movements happen because people feel excluded and a lot was promised to people, little Englanders I think is the term who were pro Brexit and it's understandable. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I remember when Mitterand was President of France and Laurent Fabius was Prime Minister that they switched to proportional representation. France doesn't have states but it has administrative regions and this move was meant to level the playing field so to speak, given that Le Pen senior was already causing trouble in the south of France. In an ideal world, given the great disparity of sheer demographic numbers in various states, would this not level the playing field? I do understand that in the US individual states are virtually independent bodies much more so even than provinces in Canada and I know it's a pipe dream but it would help ...
It's not about Trump at all, never mind fighting the Republicans for uncommitted voters, he (Biden) isn't even willing to appeal to his own Democratic base. He's far too reliant on the assumption that his base will show up to oppose Trump, even if they aren't exactly happy with him or his policies.

It could also simply be that when someone on the “campaign trail” travels in a “train”. A “convoy” is used for trucks, a “caravan” is camels across the desert and sometimes used to mean vehicles in tandem, but “train” is also a word used.
So my advice is to not have an English person analyse the language of Americans - or comment about politics she knows nothing with.
Though I can completely understand her trying to further her career by hanging on Trump’s coat-tails.
Its really good to hear a knowledgeable American talking about their electoral system and candidates. Biden really cannot go on for another term but the voters will vote as to what suits their individual pockets in the end - it is not a personality contest.
